2024 Cadillac LYRIQ Reviews Summary

After a shortened 2023 introduction, the 2024 Lyriq is the first full model year of Cadillac's midsize electric SUV. The Lyriq is the luxury version of the GM Ultium EV platform used in other EV SUVs, including the Chevrolet Blazer EV, Honda Prologue, and Acura ZDX. With ample power, just over 300 miles of range, and a properly upscale interior that finally looks different than a Chevy, the Lyriq is a good contender if you're shopping for a higher-priced, two-row electric SUV. We tested a fully-loaded Lyriq Sport at nearly $80,000.

Verdict: As an EV, the Lyriq is average. As a Cadillac, it’s much better than anything else in the showroom. Traditional brand hallmarks, such as a cavernous back seat and a gentle ride, blend with big screens and significantly improved material quality. But it's still not up to the luxury standard that Cadillac promises.

2025 Toyota Sienna Reviews Summary

In addition to promising 35 to 36 mpg in combined driving, the 2025 Sienna distinguishes itself in several ways. First, it offers an available all-wheel-drive system for extra traction. Second, a Woodland Edition trim level provides half an inch of extra ground clearance for light off-roading capability. Third, while its maximum cargo capacity measurement falls short of rivals, you never need to remove the second-row seats to use it.

Verdict: Saving money on gas, making life simpler, and the option of AWD ruggedness are all good things in a minivan, and they make the Toyota Sienna worth considering if you’re also looking at cars such as the Chrysler Pacifica, Honda Odyssey, and Kia Carnival.

2024 Cadillac LYRIQ

9/10

2025 Toyota Sienna

6/10

The 2024 Cadillac LYRIQ was a striking vehicle with a design that commanded attention. Its exterior styling was reminiscent of a long sedan, despite being an SUV, with a long hood and low ground clearance. The vehicle's design drew inspiration from the classic Seville, featuring a long wheelbase, short tail, and wide track. The front of the LYRIQ was adorned with vertical light bars and nine LED headlights that performed a light show upon unlocking. The grille varied between trims, with the Sport trim showcasing a dark triangular motif. The LYRIQ's wraparound taillights and steeply raked glass window added to its unique style, while the interior boasted luxurious details like leather-wrapped seats, polished controls, and a sweeping 33-inch OLED display.

In contrast, the 2025 Toyota Sienna maintained the traditional minivan aesthetic, albeit with some modern touches. Its trapezoidal grille and upswept body lines gave it a distinctive look, while the narrow taillights and swollen rear fenders added a touch of style. The Sienna's Platinum trim featured new flower-petal wheel designs and a Magnetic Gray paint color. Despite these efforts, the Sienna still resembled a minivan, prioritizing practicality over style. Inside, the Sienna offered an updated interior with a woodgrain finish, although opinions on its appearance varied. The Sienna's design focused on functionality, providing ample seating and cargo space for families.

Performance

2024 Cadillac LYRIQ

5/10

2025 Toyota Sienna

5/10

The 2024 Cadillac LYRIQ was designed for comfort rather than sportiness, excelling on long interstate drives. It featured a dual-motor powertrain with 500 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque, providing continuous all-wheel drive. The standard setup included a single rear motor with 340 hp and 325 lb-ft. The LYRIQ's 102-kilowatt-hour battery pack offered a range of 314 miles with rear-wheel drive and 307 miles with all-wheel drive, though real-world testing showed a range closer to 260 miles. Charging was efficient, with the battery reaching 80 percent in about 30 to 35 minutes. However, the LYRIQ's handling was hindered by its weight, resulting in understeer and uninspiring steering feel. The braking system was strong, but the vehicle's weight raised concerns about its performance under heavy use.

The 2025 Toyota Sienna featured a hybrid powertrain with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and a continuously variable transmission. It offered 245 horsepower, which was sufficient for city driving and highway cruising. The Sienna's hybrid system prioritized fuel economy, achieving an EPA rating of 36 mpg in combined driving. However, real-world testing showed an average of 26.3 mpg. The Sienna's handling was predictable but not particularly engaging, with a smooth and absorbent ride. The vehicle's brakes performed well under normal conditions but struggled during hard-braking events. The Sienna's hybrid powertrain provided a quiet and efficient driving experience, making it suitable for family trips.

Form and function

2024 Cadillac LYRIQ

5/10

2025 Toyota Sienna

5/10

The 2024 Cadillac LYRIQ faced challenges in terms of build quality and functionality. Issues such as misaligned rear fenders and a malfunctioning charging port detracted from its appeal. The interior design featured a floating center console that lacked practicality, and the glovebox was difficult to access while driving. Despite these drawbacks, the LYRIQ offered generous headroom and legroom, with a spacious back seat. However, its cargo space was limited, with only 28 cubic feet behind the seats and 60.8 cubic feet when folded.

The 2025 Toyota Sienna excelled in terms of form and function, offering a range of seating and cargo solutions. The front seats were power adjustable, heated, and ventilated, though they could become uncomfortable on long drives. The second-row captain's chairs with ottoman-style leg rests were popular with passengers, and the third-row seat accommodated adults comfortably. The Sienna's sliding side doors and hands-free power liftgate made loading and unloading easy. Storage space was ample, with a wide tray under the center console and a generous cargo area. The Sienna provided 33.5 cubic feet of cargo space behind the third-row seat, expanding to 75.2 cubic feet with the seats stowed. However, its maximum cargo capacity of 101 cubic feet was less than its rivals due to the design of the second-row seats.

The 2024 Cadillac LYRIQ featured a 33-inch OLED screen with three sections, offering touch-enabled controls for lighting and gauge cluster layouts. The infotainment system ran native Google Maps and Google Assistant, with simple menus and high-quality graphics. The available Super Cruise system provided hands-free driving capabilities, while the 19-speaker AKG stereo offered variable surround sound modes. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto were standard, enhancing the vehicle's connectivity.

The 2025 Toyota Sienna offered a 12.3-inch digital instrumentation panel and a 12.3-inch touchscreen display for the Toyota Audio Multimedia system. The Platinum trim included a four-zone automatic climate control system, a 10-inch head-up display, and a camera-based digital rearview mirror. The TAM system provided access to various connected services plans, with a digital assistant that responded to voice commands. The Sienna's infotainment system supported Apple and Amazon Music accounts, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto were available. The 12-speaker JBL premium audio system offered decent sound quality, though it could be improved. The Sienna's climate control system and digital rearview camera added to its convenience and functionality.

2025 Toyota Sienna

6/10

The 2024 Cadillac LYRIQ had not been crash-tested by the NHTSA or IIHS at the time of writing. It came standard with forward automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, and Cadillac's Safety Alert Seat. Optional features included adaptive cruise control, a 360-degree camera system, and rear emergency braking.

The 2025 Toyota Sienna featured Toyota Safety Sense 2.0, which included forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and adaptive cruise control. The Sienna also had blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert. The NHTSA awarded the Sienna a five-star overall rating, though it received lower scores in frontal crash tests. The Sienna's new rear-seat reminder technology added an extra layer of safety for families.
