2024 Genesis GV70 Reviews Summary

Verdict: The GV70 offers style, impressive tech, and a well-executed electric variant. Launched as a 2022 model and thus still very fresh, the Genesis GV70 is the Korean luxury brand’s answer to the BMW X3, Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class, Lexus NX, Volvo XC60, and other small luxury crossover SUVs. The GV70 checks most of the boxes needed to compete in this segment while offering something the competition doesn’t: an all-electric powertrain option.

2025 Cadillac Escalade Reviews Summary

The 2025 Cadillac Escalade maintains the momentum of one of the most recognizable SUV nameplates. The current-generation Escalade was introduced as a 2021 model, but for 2025 it gets a refresh that includes styling changes and a redesigned dashboard display. The all-electric 2025 Cadillac Escalade IQ joins the lineup as well, but that’s covered in a separate review. This gasoline Escalade competes against full-size luxury SUVs like the BMW X7, Infiniti QX80, Land Rover Range Rover, Lexus LX, Lincoln Navigator, and Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class.

Verdict: If you’re willing to spend extra on a well-optioned example, the Escalade is a credible luxury vehicle. But its platform’s shortcomings can’t be erased.

2024 Genesis GV70

9/10

2025 Cadillac Escalade

9/10

The 2024 Genesis GV70 distinguished itself within the Genesis lineup and among its competitors with its sleek design. It retained signature Genesis styling elements like split headlights and a large grille for brand recognition, yet it was sleeker than the larger GV80 and avoided the quirkiness of the smaller GV60. Notable features included a hatchback-like rear window profile, large round exhaust outlets on the Sport Prestige trim, and unique 21-inch wheel designs. The GV70 struck a balance between SUV presence and luxury-car style, outperforming competitors like the Audi Q5 and BMW X3 in finesse, while maintaining a luxury brand image.

The 2025 Cadillac Escalade, aside from the Celestiq EV, was Cadillac's largest and most expensive offering, embodying traditional Cadillac luxury. The updated design further distinguished it from its Chevrolet and GMC counterparts. The new front end aligned the gasoline Escalade with Cadillac's EVs, featuring large vertical headlights and tall taillights reminiscent of classic Cadillacs. Available 24-inch wheels enhanced its imposing presence. Cadillac offered various trims, including the performance-focused Escalade-V, with the Premium Luxury Platinum models featuring an illuminated crest and grille surround.

Performance

2024 Genesis GV70

7/10

2025 Cadillac Escalade

6/10

The 2024 Genesis GV70 offered unchanged powertrain options, with a standard 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 300 horsepower and 311 pound-feet of torque, and an optional 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 with 375 hp and 391 lb-ft. Both engines came with an eight-speed automatic transmission and standard all-wheel drive. The Electrified GV70 featured front and rear electric motors delivering 429 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque, with a Boost Mode increasing output to 483 hp. Despite its power, the GV70's chassis tuning didn't match its sporty rivals, and its ride quality was average for its class.

The 2025 Cadillac Escalade dropped the Duramax turbodiesel option, leaving the 6.2-liter V8 with 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. The Escalade-V boasted a supercharged V8 with 682 hp and 653 lb-ft. All models featured a 10-speed automatic transmission, with rear-wheel drive standard and four-wheel drive optional. The Escalade-V had a performance-oriented AWD system. Magnetic Ride Control was standard on most trims, but the Escalade's handling couldn't match luxury rivals like the Range Rover or BMW X7. Brembo brakes were available for enhanced stopping power.

Form and function

2024 Genesis GV70

8/10

2025 Cadillac Escalade

9/10

The 2024 Genesis GV70 offered competitive interior space, with slightly less headroom than some rivals but more front-seat legroom than the BMW and Mercedes. It provided 28.9 cubic feet of cargo space, better than the Mercedes but less than the Audi. Folding the rear seats yielded 56.9 cubic feet. The Electrified GV70 had minimal impact on interior space, with slight reductions in legroom and headroom. Stylish interior design limited small-item storage, but features like automatic side bolsters in Sport mode added to its appeal.

The 2025 Cadillac Escalade, available in standard and long-wheelbase ESV versions, offered ample space. The ESV increased third-row legroom and cargo capacity significantly. The Escalade had the most first-row headroom in its class, with competitive legroom across all rows. Cargo space was best-in-segment, with the ESV providing even more. The Escalade's towing capacity met segment expectations, though it lacked some advanced towing features offered by competitors.

Technology

2024 Genesis GV70

2025 Cadillac Escalade

9/10

The 2024 Genesis GV70 featured a 14.5-inch touchscreen with wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Higher trims had a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster with a 3D effect and a 12-inch head-up display. The infotainment system was user-friendly, with a rotary controller and fingerprint scanner for driver profiles. A digital key allowed phone-based vehicle access.

The 2025 Cadillac Escalade introduced a 55-inch display spanning the dashboard, incorporating multiple touchscreens and a rotary dial. A 19-speaker AKG audio system was standard, with a 36-speaker option available. The Escalade retained wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, with intuitive screen layouts and haptic feedback. The Executive Second Row Package added luxury features for rear passengers, including screens and massage seats.

Safety

The 2024 Genesis GV70 received the IIHS Top Safety Pick+ award, with standard safety features like lane-keep assist, forward-collision warning, and Highway Driving Assist. The Electrified GV70 shared these accolades. NHTSA ratings were incomplete, but the 2023 model received a five-star overall rating.

The 2025 Cadillac Escalade included adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, and Super Cruise, GM's hands-free driving system. The Safety Alert Seat provided tactile warnings. Crash-test ratings were unavailable at publication.
