2023 Hyundai IONIQ 5 Reviews, Pricing & Specs

Overview
Now entering its second model year, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 gets a range boost for its AWD models for 2023.
The 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 5 is an all-electric crossover with a striking design and a versatile cabin. The Ioniq 5 was introduced in 2022 as an all-new model, and it carries over into 2023 with minimal changes. The electric range for all-wheel-drive (AWD) models gets a boost from 256 miles to 266 miles. The Ioniq 5 provides up to 59.3 cubic feet of cargo space. With the rear seats in use, the Ioniq 5 provides 27.2 cubic feet of cargo space.
Trims for the Hyundai Ioniq 5 are SE, SEL, and Limited. Standard features on the SE trim include 19-inch alloy wheels, cloth upholstery, LED head- and tail-lights, an eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and push-button start. The SE also comes with a fully digital instrument panel, as well as a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Moving up to the SEL adds wireless device charging, a heated steering wheel, synthetic leather upholstery, and a hands-free power liftgate. The range-topping Limited trim adds a panoramic sunroof, heated and ventilated front seats, a power-adjustable front passenger seat, and a Bose premium stereo system.
The Ioniq 5’s battery pairs to either a single motor at the rear wheels or to dual motors in the available AWD configuration. The SE Standard Range’s single motor makes 168 horsepower and can travel up to 220 miles. The non-Standard Range models make 228 horsepower and have a range of 303 miles. Dual-motor AWD models put out a combined 320 horsepower and can travel up to 266 miles.
Using a 240V Level 2 charger, the Ioniq 5 can be charged in 6 hours and 45 minutes. It also has DC fast charging, allowing the battery to be charged from 10% to 80% in 18 to 25 minutes. This fast-charging time depends on the power output of the charging station.
The Ioniq 5 comes equipped with a host of standard driver-assistance features, including automatic emergency braking, forward-collision avoidance, lane-departure warning, pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, traffic-sign recognition, rear parking sensors, driver drowsiness monitoring, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. Available safety tech includes a 360-degree parking monitor, parking assist, front parking sensors, and a head-up display.
Base MSRP for the 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 5 is $41,450 for a Standard Range SE model. The SE trim with the upgraded range starts at $45,500. The SEL starts at $47,450 and the Limited starts at $52,600. The SE AWD model starts at $49,000. The AWD SEL starts at $50,950 and the range-topping AWD Limited starts at $56,500. The Hyundai Ioniq 5 is backed by a 10-year/100,000-mile warranty for the battery and electric components.

What owners say
"Overall, owners of the 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 5 are really impressed with its beautiful design, roomy interior, and impressive range of over 300 miles. They appreciate the smooth and quiet ride along with the advanced technology features. However, some drivers wish for more comfort in the seats and find that the price might be a bit high considering the minimalist interior. A few also mentioned challenges with getting in and out of the car, particularly for those with back issues."
Excellent value, heated and cooled front seats and heated steering wheel. Great safety features.
February 9, 2024This car feels like you are driving on a cloud. Extremely smooth and comfortable! The inside space is a plus - I have 2 car seats in the back seat and no one is squished. The technology on the dash is next level and very user friendly. Love love love this car!

May 11, 2023Absolutely Magnificent Well Made Vehicle , Great Suspension, Magnificent Range, Super Fast Charge
February 18, 2024I have owned a Tesla Model 3 and a Chevy Bolt. My wife currently owns a Ford Mustang Mach E. This car is well positioned competition for the Mach E and Model 3. There are a few curious decisions such as I-pedal not being available in reverse or by default in drive (you have to use the paddle shifter to select I-Pedal during drive). The IONIQ 5 is a bit rolly on the turns, but the acceleration is extremely impressive. The lane assist will tend to over-correct for sharper curves at higher speeds, but works well otherwise. The interior and comfort amenities are superb. The seats in the SEL are comfortable, but not as comfortable as the Mach E or Model 3 seats. The range on this vehicle makes it a no-brainer. The miles remaining meter seems to be the most accurate out of all of the cars that I have driven.
October 19, 2022Best EV car ever. I wish I could have the N variant of this car. But the standard AWD version is still very promising!
October 1, 2024The vehicle is spacious inside and has quick acceleration with smooth ride. Ultra quiet and great sight lines due to high seat placement. Only downside is price given the minimalist interior. Not luxurious. Expect more comfort features and quality materials at this price point.
November 9, 2023Bang for your back you can’t go wrong with the SE Ioniq 5. It’s checks off all the boxes for most drivers plus it has a ton of space inside of it’s small shell. Technology is up to par with most all manufacturers and quite frankly aesthetically it has to be one of the best and most unique vehicles on the road.
January 10, 2023Quality build, long range battery, very quiet inside, Loaded with safety features!!!!
July 21, 2023value for money- you get autopilot, smart cruise. battery life needs improvement.
