Dealer's description

Iconic roadster styling with a thorough rotisserie restoration! This is the introduction year of the 3000 model. It offered more power and comfort than its predecessors while retaining the agility that made them so popular. This one boasts top quality bodywork and paint, a refined interior and a rebuilt motor making it a frontrunner while considering these British classics. This one had the same owner for the last 19 years. EXTERIOR: What a handsome design, I have always admired the looks of these cars. This one has high quality paint and bodywork, looking down the side of the body it is extremely straight. The 2 tone paint has been applied with great attention to detail then polished to a shiny and reflective finish. All the panels are properly aligned with nice tight gaps. The bumpers and several trim pieces have been rechromed. The front grille appears to be original and in remarkable condition. The chrome knock off wire wheels really make the car gorgeous. They are wrapped in a set of 15" Michelin radial tires with tons of tread left. The blue convertible top is in excellent shape and includes matching side curtain windows. INTERIOR: Quaint and comfy! It's a really fun experience sitting so close to the road and throwing around that 4 speed manual shifter. All the seats have been recovered in navy blue genuine leather with very tasteful white piping that accents the exterior. The banjo style steering wheel and the Smiths gauges look so cool and appear to be original. There is an overdrive/normal switch for the transmission. Everything has been refinished and looks great including the dash pad, door panels, and carpeting. It has rear seats making it a 2+2. ENGINE COMPARTMENT: The engine compartment is restored to factory condition. The 2.9 liter inline 6 cylinder with dual carbs is a very spirited motor. It was rebuilt and repainted like when it left the factory. It has the correct radiator and fan shroud. The engine starts easily and runs smooth. The underside of the hood, fender wells, and firewall have all been repainted Iris blue just like the body. The wiring looks proper. TRUNK COMPARTMENT: The underside of the lid and jamb are painted Iris blue just like the exterior. There is a prop rod to hold the lid open. The inside is all clean metal with the correct vinyl cover. The battery is properly secured on the passenger side. UNDERSIDE: Rotisserie restoration with many new parts! The steering and front/rear suspension components have been totally rebuilt and repainted. The front has a swaybar. The brakes were rebuilt, lines and hoses were replaced. It has disc brakes in front, American muscle cars did not have disc brakes until the late 60s! It has a dual stainless exhaust with a single polished muffler. All the fuel lines are fresh. Looking up at the rebuilt motor everything has a refinished look with no visible leaks. The transmission appears to have been serviced also. The rear end has a fresh coat of black paint. The frame and floors are all solid with body colored Iris blue paint. SERVICE: Our lead mechanic completed a thorough inspection of this car and we replaced the brake shoes, replaced a wheel cylinder, cut the rotors, bled the brakes, sealed the axles, replaced the antenna, replaced the fuel level sending unit, and repaired the start button wiring. CONCLUSION: The Austin Healy 3000 remains a beloved symbol of British sports car engineering and design from the late 1950s. It is captured the hearts of enthusiast for decades and I know why, it is a very good looker and driving it is so much fun. I love that British sports car sound!
