Engineered as the last 911, the SC, for Super Carrera, was designed to be a world car, with few changes needed to meet standards across the many varied restrictions set by each country. This not only reduced R&D costs but also helped keep manufacturing overhead to a minimum. Initially only available as a coupe or targa, Porsche released the SC cabriolet in late 1982 for the 1983 model year this was the first full cabriolet for the company since 356 production ended in 1965. The resulting vehicle was a fabulous sports car well-known to pull hard in any gear thanks to its 3.0L Flat-6 derived from the 1974 911 Turbo along with the driving feel and handling expected of a 911. All without compromising on comfort, as ever more luxury features become standard. For the US market, power was limited to 180hp due to emissions restrictions. The European-spec cars, however, offered 204hp and a wider torque band for far superior drivability and performance. All told, the 911 SC sold in sufficient quantities to prove that the 911 still had a place in the companys portfolio, thereby paving the way for the 911s future. The fact it is still a fabulous driving machine by modern standards adds to the desirability of this exceptional investment. The exceptional 1983 Porsche 911 SC 3.0 Cabriolet featured here is finished in stunning Grand Prix White over a Black interior with a matching folding convertible top. This one-year-only, European-specification 911 SC was imported into the U.S. when new and was reputedly owned by the same meticulous owner for more than 30 years. Between 2015 and 2016, this Porsche was graced with over $38,000 in mechanical and cosmetic attention including a full repaint and a complete transaxle rebuild. Displaying only 24,389 miles, this Porsche performs wonderfully and is sure to bring years of enjoyment to its next caretaker. We are extremely proud to offer this remarkable 1983 911 SC Cabriolet to the most astute collector, investor, or enthusiast who appreciates the legacy of the Porsche marque.
