GM's infamous racing ban of 1963 was prompted by the 1957 resolution from the Automobile Manufacturers Association, and this led to limited engineering support for teams that raced Corvettes. By the late 1980's, however, times had changed and GM began to openly support competition, mainly as a way to improve its cars. This rare 2009 Chevrolet Corvette GT1 Championship Edition celebrates the results of this factory effort: 8 American Le Mans Series GT1 team championships, 5-time 24 Hours of Le Mans class champions, and 74 victories in international sports car competition. Impressive! Although GM initially planned to build 600 examples, they ended at 125. This is one of only 10 Velocity Yellow Convertibles from that limited edition! This beauty further distinguishes itself with an upgraded Edelbrock E-Force supercharger sitting atop the already potent 436 hp LS3. Yes, it's FAST!!! This upgrade increases the performance of your LS3 engine to 599 horsepower and 547 ft-lbs of torque at the crank. The core of this system is the Eaton Gen VI 2300 TVS rotating assembly with a four-lobe design with 160 degrees of twist for maximum flow, minimum temperature rise and quiet operation for excellent drivability and emissions legal. Additional features include power rack and pinion steering, power 4-wheel disc brakes with ABS, power windows, power leather and heated seats, power door locks, power top, power telescoping steering column, dual zone climate control, 6-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters, dual mode exhaust system, head-up display, Bose premium audio system with 6-disc changer and MP3, memory package, navigation system, full width rear spoiler, and aggressive tires (245/40ZR18 F, 285/35ZR19 R) wrapped around alloy wheels. 3 autographs (including Antonio Garcia #3) are located under the center console cover, further separating this car from the field.
