I bought my car used; 2018 to be exact and for being 7 years old, it feels like a new car. It handles smoothly, and I feel like I’m floating. I’ve had it less than a week but am totally in love with it.

I like the interior, performance and technology. My first electric car so it is a little bit of adjustment with charging at home and surcharges. You do get range anxiety. The range isn't what I expected and hard to find chargers in some areas that you think should have some. Have to reroute longer routes to make it work. But car is amazing to drive. Not sure how getting things fixed will go as Tesas a couple hours from me. Seeting up the appointments is a little bit inconvenient.

You should start with a history report so you can confirm accident status and spot any title or ownership issues before you get too far into the process. Then prioritize a thorough inspection of the car’s software, infotainment behavior, and any features that matter most to you, since reviewers mention minor glitches and usability concerns. It also makes sense to focus on overall condition and how well the car’s tech systems operate, because that’s where used examples are most likely to vary.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Tesla Model 3?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully without feeling rushed.
- Deal availability: 31.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 1,332 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 76.5% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $17,880, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2018 Tesla Model 3's resale value?
The current average of $19,919 sits slightly above last year's $19,784.
That small increase suggests the market has stayed fairly stable, which is helpful if you plan to sell later. A steady price trend can support resale confidence because it shows buyers are still willing to pay near current market levels. The model’s strong owner satisfaction also helps keep demand healthy when you decide to move on.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2018 Tesla Model 3 or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2018 if:
- 31.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 76.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
The bottom line: The 2018 Model 3 is a strong choice if you want a used EV with standout owner satisfaction, steady pricing, and a healthy supply of listings. If you’re more price-sensitive, you may want to compare nearby model years and focus on whichever one gives you the best combination of condition, history, and deal quality.
