Used 2015 Ford Expedition for SaleNationwide

How much does the 2015 Ford Expedition cost?

Prices have softened 6.63% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 589 listings available, which suggests a decent amount of inventory for you to compare.

Is the 2015 Ford Expedition a good car?

Yes — 4.5/5. The expert rating is 8.2/10, and the model scores 9/10 across Performance, Technology, and Safety.

The 2015 Expedition keeps its familiar full-size SUV shape while making a meaningful mechanical shift under the hood, which gives you a more modern powertrain direction without changing the vehicle’s core mission. It’s a straightforward choice if you want a large SUV with long-running design continuity, strong capability, and a focus on family hauling and cargo space.

31.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2015 Ford Expedition reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2015 Expedition’s reliability story is tied to its established design and its updated EcoBoost V6 powertrain, which gives you a more efficient setup than the outgoing V8. The expert evaluation also points to a vehicle that feels well suited to its job: carrying people and cargo with a smooth ride and solid highway power.

The fuel-economy improvement is a practical plus for ownership, and the warranty coverage adds some reassurance for used buyers. Even so, you should still plan for the usual long-term costs that come with a large SUV, especially if you drive a lot or need frequent towing.

What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Ford Expedition?

At 63.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on body panels, suspension behavior, and signs of heavy family or towing use. Because this is a large SUV, condition can vary a lot from one example to the next, so you’ll want to focus on maintenance records, interior wear, and how well the vehicle has been cared for overall.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base XLT includes manual air conditioning, rear auxiliary climate control, power windows and door locks, a reverse-sensing system, and a rear-view camera, while higher trims add more comfort and convenience features. The Limited and Platinum bring much more standard equipment, so base-trim shoppers should pay close attention to feature gaps.
• Powertrain: Every trim uses the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 with 365 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque paired with a 6-speed SelectShift automatic transmission. The switch away from the V8 is the big mechanical story for this year, and the engine is described as strong enough that you won’t feel short on power.
• Safety package: Standard safety equipment includes 6 airbags, rear-door child-safety locks, power 4-wheel antilock disc brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution, a tire pressure monitoring system, SOS post-crash alert system, AdvanceTrac with Roll Stability Control on RWD versions, traction control, a rear-view camera, and reverse sensing. Blind-spot information, cross-traffic alert, and forward sensing are available on higher trims.
• Infotainment: The base system uses Sync with MyFord Voice and a 4.2-inch center display with AM/FM/SiriusXM satellite radio, a single-disc CD player, USB port, AppLink, and 911 Assist. Higher trims get Sync with MyFord Touch with an 8-inch touchscreen and 2 USB ports.
• Fuel efficiency: The Expedition is EPA rated at 15 mpg city/20 highway/17 combined, with a test-drive average of 16.8 mpg.

Which 2015 Ford Expedition trim should I buy?

The 2015 Ford Expedition is offered in 8 trim levels: XLT, XLT EL, Limited, Limited EL, King Ranch, King Ranch EL, Platinum, Platinum EL.

Here's the short version:

• XLT: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Expedition experience with seating for 8, the 4.2-inch Sync with MyFord Voice system, and standard safety and towing basics. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the model, but you should be aware that it has the most dated infotainment setup.
• XLT EL: Choose this if you want the XLT formula with a longer wheelbase and more cargo-oriented packaging. It’s the better fit if space matters more than luxury, and it keeps the same basic equipment as the standard XLT.
• Limited: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it turns many optional features standard, including perforated leather-trimmed heated and cooled front seats, HD Radio, a power liftgate, second-row heated outboard seats, dual-zone climate control, remote start, and the upgraded Sync with MyFord Touch system. It’s the sweet spot if you want a more polished Expedition without jumping all the way to the top end.
• Limited EL: Pick this if you want the Limited’s equipment with the longer wheelbase. It adds the extra space without changing the core feature set.
• King Ranch: This trim leans into a more distinctive upscale look with Mesa Brown leather, King Ranch badging, power deployable running boards, a power moonroof, and heated and cooled front seats with multiple levels. It suits you if you want a more premium, character-rich cabin.
• King Ranch EL: This is the long-wheelbase version of the King Ranch, so it’s the right choice if you want the same upscale personality with more room.
• Platinum: At the top of the lineup, the Platinum makes nearly every available feature standard, with only a few options left. It’s the right pick if you want the most luxurious and fully equipped Expedition.
• Platinum EL: Choose this if you want the most upscale version with the added space of the extended wheelbase.

The safety package includes standard rear-view camera and reverse-sensing equipment, with blind-spot information, cross-traffic alert, and forward sensing available on higher trims.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Ford Expedition?

The market looks moderately favorable if you’re a selective buyer.

• Deal availability: 31.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 589 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.63% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 63.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $11,262, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2015 Ford Expedition's resale value?

The current average of $11,412 sits slightly below last year's $12,222.

That tells you the market has softened, which can work in your favor as a buyer but may put some pressure on future resale if you plan to sell soon. For a future owner, the current pricing suggests the Expedition is still accessible, but not immune to broader depreciation trends that affect large SUVs.

If you maintain the vehicle well and keep service records, you’ll be in a better position when it’s time to sell. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2015 Ford Expedition safe?

The 2015 Ford Expedition earns five-star overall ratings from NHTSA, with five-star frontal and side crash ratings; rollover ratings vary by drivetrain, with four-star ratings on 4WD models and three-star ratings on RWD versions.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes 6 airbags, rear-door child-safety locks, power 4-wheel antilock disc brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution, a tire pressure monitoring system, SOS post-crash alert system, AdvanceTrac with Roll Stability Control on RWD versions, traction control, a rear-view camera, and reverse sensing. Available upgrades include forward sensing, blind-spot information, and cross-traffic alert.

The main caveat is the lower rollover rating on rear-wheel-drive versions, so if safety is a top priority, you may want to pay close attention to drivetrain choice.

Should I buy a 2015 Ford Expedition or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 31.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 63.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.63% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Expert or safety highlight specific to this year: Ford replaces the V8 with a more fuel-efficient EcoBoost V6, making this model year notable for its mechanical update.

The bottom line: The 2015 Expedition makes the most sense if you want this generation’s familiar full-size SUV formula with the important EcoBoost V6 update and you’re shopping the used market for value. If you’re price-sensitive, this year’s softened pricing and decent deal share make it worth a close look; if you want newer tech and more advanced driver-assistance features, a later model year may be the better path.
