2025 Jeep Wrangler Reviews Summary

You know what you’re getting with the Jeep Wrangler: Iconic looks and legendary off-road ability but an overall package somewhat out of step with the times. Even so, it’s a model that’s continually evolving and Jeep does its best to appeal to the broadest cross-section of customers possible. You can get a Wrangler with two-door or four-door body styles, and your choice between three engines and seven trim levels. This year, all 2025 Wrangler models have standard power windows and door locks, the V6/automatic drivetrain returns to the lineup, while new colors include ’41 (drab green), Mojito (bright green), and Joose (orange).

Verdict: Rough, raw, and unrefined, the 2025 Wrangler is made for adventure and getting dirty. The top comes off. The doors come off. There are drain holes in the floor so that you can hose it out. This Jeep can be unpleasant to drive daily, yet we love it just the same.

2026 Lexus TX Reviews Summary

You may not have heard much about the Lexus TX, the company’s full-size three-row SUV. Introduced for the 2024 model year, it’s still a young’un compared to its competition, but has made its mark by offering a spacious interior and three different powertrains, wrapped in a stylish package.

In Lexus’ seven-model SUV lineup, the TX slots between the GX and LX—two body-on-frame models focused on off-roading. You can snag a gas-powered TX or one with a hybrid powertrain, but for this review we're focused on the 550h+ plug-in hybrid model. The PHEV offers the most power and best fuel economy, but also has the highest price.

Verdict: The 2026 Lexus TX 550h+ is a great option for large families that need a spacious third row, but some of the technology comes with a steep learning curve.

Look and feel

2025 Jeep Wrangler

6/10

2026 Lexus TX

7/10

The 2025 Jeep Wrangler Sport S, with its black-on-black color scheme, was not the ideal choice for a tropical climate like Hawaii. Despite the initial disappointment, the vehicle's appeal became apparent once the windows were down, and the overhead panels were removed. The Wrangler's design, rooted in American freedom and military history, remained a popular choice despite its lack of sophistication compared to other modern vehicles. The interior, while functional, lacked luxury, focusing instead on durability and utility, with features like a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system and metallic accents.

In contrast, the 2026 Lexus TX offered a more refined aesthetic with its various trim levels and luxurious features. The 550h+ plug-in hybrid model stood out with its standard panoramic glass roof and Matador Red Mica paint. The exterior design retained the large grille and sharp bi-LED headlights, while the interior provided spacious seating, ambient lighting, and a mix of materials that, although not top-notch, were functional. The redesigned door handles were a unique touch, though some might have preferred more attention to detail elsewhere in the cabin.

Performance

2025 Jeep Wrangler

7/10

2026 Lexus TX

7/10

The 2025 Jeep Wrangler offered a choice between a 3.6-liter V6 engine with a six-speed manual transmission and a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The latter produced 270 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque, offering a slightly more fuel-efficient option with an EPA rating of 21 mpg in combined driving. Despite its rugged capabilities, the Wrangler's ride was rough, and its handling traits were less than ideal, especially given its three-star rollover resistance rating from the NHTSA.

The 2026 Lexus TX 550h+ plug-in hybrid delivered a more powerful performance with 404 horsepower from its 3.5-liter V6 and hybrid system. The vehicle offered multiple drive modes, including electric-only and hybrid options, providing flexibility for different driving conditions. The ride was smooth and quiet, with the suspension effectively absorbing bumps and potholes. The AWD system allowed for power distribution between the front and rear wheels, enhancing traction on various surfaces.

Form and function

2025 Jeep Wrangler

4/10

2026 Lexus TX

7/10

The 2025 Jeep Wrangler's high ground clearance and narrow door openings made entry and exit challenging, though the front seats were comfortable and supportive. The interior was designed for utility, with limited storage space and a cargo area that required maneuvering to access. The Wrangler offered 31.7 cubic feet of cargo space, expandable to 72.4 cubic feet with the rear seats folded.

The 2026 Lexus TX 550h+ provided a more spacious and luxurious interior, with features like multi-zone climate control and heated seats. The third row was notably roomy, accommodating full-sized adults comfortably. The vehicle offered ample cargo space, with 20.2 cubic feet available with all seats in place, expanding to 97 cubic feet with the second and third rows folded. The TX also boasted a towing capacity of up to 5,000 pounds.

Technology

2025 Jeep Wrangler

7/10

2026 Lexus TX

7/10

The 2025 Jeep Wrangler featured the Uconnect 5 infotainment system with a 12.3-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and an optional nine-speaker Alpine sound system. The system was user-friendly, even with the roof panels removed, and offered additional features like a Wi-Fi hotspot and GPS Trail Logs for off-road navigation.

The 2026 Lexus TX's technology was a mixed bag. The 14-inch touchscreen was responsive, but some features lacked polish, such as the inability to manually input satellite radio stations. The vehicle offered wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, though connectivity issues occasionally arose. The TX also included advanced parking systems and multiple USB ports, ensuring devices remained charged.

Safety

2025 Jeep Wrangler

4/10

2026 Lexus TX

7/10

The 2025 Jeep Wrangler came with standard side curtain airbags and optional advanced driver assistance systems, such as blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert. However, crash test ratings were mixed, with a four-star frontal-impact rating and a three-star rollover resistance rating from the NHTSA.

The 2026 Lexus TX included the Safety System+ 3.0 as standard, offering features like forward collision warning, lane departure warning, and traffic sign recognition. While the NHTSA had not rated the 550h+, other TX models received five-star ratings. The IIHS gave the TX an "Acceptable" rating for the small overlap front crash test and a "Good" rating for the passenger side.
