2025 Nissan Rogue Reviews Summary

The 2025 Nissan Rogue is one of the main players in the highly competitive compact SUV segment. Ever since the first Rogue went on sale for the 2008 model year, Nissan has made sure to constantly update and improve what’s now the automaker’s best-selling model in the U.S.

For the 2025 model year, the Rogue gets a little off-road bravado added to its winning recipe. The Rogue Rock Creek trim is equipped with adventure gear like all-wheel drive (AWD), all-terrain tires, a tubular roof rack, a surround-view camera system, and hill-descent control. It also has trim-specific exterior design touches like red trim pieces on the alloy wheels and front grille and “Rock Creek” badges on the front seats. Nissan’s ProPilot Assist 2.1 highway driving assist system is also newly available on the Rogue.

Verdict: With its reasonable price tag and impressive array of comfort features and tech touches, the Rogue is aimed right at the heart of the compact SUV segment. This year’s improvements add a little more polish to the Rogue, particularly with the outdoorsy Rock Creek model and latest generation of Nissan’s hands-free highway driving technology. This is an extremely well-rounded choice, though not everything is perfect.

2026 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid Reviews Summary

There aren’t many subcompact crossovers on the market with hybrid powertrains. As such, it’s tough to weigh the 2026 Subaru Crosstrek against a field of other options. The Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid is its primary competition; the Kia Niro Hybrid is exclusively front-wheel drive, and vehicles like the Hyundai Tucson Hybrid, Honda CR-V Hybrid, and Toyota RAV4 Hybrid all compete in the larger compact crossover segment. If shoppers want a fuel-efficient and genuinely small crossover with great all-wheel-drive capability, the new Crosstrek Hybrid is the best available choice.

Verdict: With its attractive styling, comfortable interior, and tested AWD system, the 2026 Subaru Crosstrek delivers a terrific package, even if it’s not as efficient as some larger (and more expensive) competitors.

Look and feel

2025 Nissan Rogue

8/10

2026 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid

8/10

The 2025 Nissan Rogue was available in five trims, with the SV trim being particularly popular due to its balance of features and price. Priced at $30,930, it included amenities like an eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, Wi-Fi hotspot, and adaptive cruise control. The Platinum trim, which we tested, offered a luxurious experience with semi-aniline leather seating, a panoramic sunroof, and a 10-speaker Bose audio system. The 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen with Google built-in was a standout feature, providing seamless navigation on our test drive in Tennessee. The exterior, finished in Champagne Silver Metallic with a two-tone color combo, featured a sporty black roof and 19-inch alloy wheels, enhancing its bold styling. Additional packages like the Tech Package and Platinum Premium Package added advanced features such as ProPilot Assist 2.1 and a hands-free power liftgate.

The 2026 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid, in its third generation, continued to evolve with subtle design improvements. The front fascia featured a frameless grille with a curved wing bar, creating a distinctive look. The Hybrid was available in Sport and Limited trims, with the Limited offering a balance of rugged utility and comfort. The interior featured durable materials, with gray StarTex seats and orange contrast stitching. The cabin was thoughtfully designed, with chrome-trimmed power window switches and "Hybrid"-stitched floor mats. The Limited Hybrid added a heated steering wheel and an optional power moonroof. Despite its compact size, the Crosstrek Hybrid offered a spacious interior with practical storage solutions.

Performance

2025 Nissan Rogue

2026 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid

8/10

The 2025 Nissan Rogue was powered by a 201-horsepower turbocharged 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine, which provided adequate performance for everyday driving. While it lacked the punch of a four-cylinder engine, the Rogue's drivetrain was smooth and quiet, thanks to its continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). The CVT, a Nissan specialty, delivered a refined driving experience without sacrificing fuel economy. The Rogue's steering was light and accurate, making it easy to maneuver, though it didn't offer the sporty feel of some competitors. Braking was smooth and predictable, adding to the overall driving comfort.

The 2026 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid featured a 2.5-liter Boxer H4 engine paired with a 118-hp traction motor, delivering a total system output of 194 horsepower. This made it the fastest Crosstrek to date, with improved acceleration and smoothness. The hybrid system utilized two motor-generators for engine start/stop and regenerative braking, enhancing efficiency. During our test drive, the Crosstrek Hybrid achieved 31 miles per gallon, slightly below the EPA estimate of 36 mpg. Subaru's AWD system, combined with X-Mode traction management, provided excellent off-road capability. The steering was light but precise, and the revised dual-pinion steering rack reduced body lean, improving handling.

Form and function

2026 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid

9/10

The 2025 Nissan Rogue offered a well-designed interior with quilted leather seating and upmarket trim in the Platinum model. The cabin was spacious, with 38.5 inches of rear legroom and 31.6 cubic feet of cargo space. The Divide-and-Hide storage system added versatility to the cargo area. The Rogue's interior featured practical storage solutions, including a compartment beneath the center console for valuables. The layout was user-friendly, with physical controls for HVAC settings and heated seats, ensuring convenience for the driver.

The 2026 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid improved upon its predecessors with more horsepower and cargo space. The trunk offered 18.6 cubic feet of space, expanding to 50.6 cubic feet with the rear seats folded. The gas tank remained at 16.6 gallons, allowing for long-distance travel without frequent refueling. Rear-seat legroom measured 36.7 inches, providing ample space for passengers. While front storage was limited, the Crosstrek Hybrid included a wireless charging pad and deep door pockets for added convenience.

Technology

2026 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid

5/10

The 2025 Nissan Rogue featured an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen in the S and SV trims, while upper trims boasted a 12.3-inch screen with wireless smartphone connectivity. The infotainment system was user-friendly, with quick response times and crisp graphics. Google navigation was particularly helpful during our test drive. ProPilot Assist allowed for hands-free operation on pre-mapped roads, enhancing highway driving. A wireless charging pad kept devices secure and charged during the journey.

The 2026 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid came with an 11.6-inch touchscreen, but the software was slow and prone to lag. The screen was a fingerprint magnet, and many controls were accessed via touchscreen buttons, which could be frustrating. However, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto were standard, providing an alternative to the Starlink software. The Limited Hybrid included a Harman Kardon stereo and a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, offering customizable displays, though it lacked Google Maps integration.

Safety

The 2025 Nissan Rogue received a five-star rating from the NHTSA, with standard safety features including automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, and lane departure warning. Optional features included a head-up display and ProPilot Assist. The IIHS had not yet rated the 2025 model, but the 2024 version scored well in most categories.

The 2026 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid did not receive a Top Safety Pick designation from the IIHS due to lower scores in crash tests. However, the NHTSA awarded it five stars for overall safety. Subaru's EyeSight ADAS included adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and pre-collision braking, providing a comprehensive safety suite.
