2025 Porsche Cayenne Reviews Summary

Verdict: Even the base model Cayenne delivers an agile driving experience, but those willing to dig deep into their bank account for one of Porsche’s more expensive Cayenne models are rewarded with a spirited drive like no other. The competition here is stiff, in the form of other German SUVs like the Audi Q8, BMW X5, and Mercedes-Benz GLE, and their performance variants. However, the Cayenne is not here to lose.

2025 Chevrolet Traverse Reviews Summary

Redesigned in 2024, the 2025 Traverse gets a few additional changes. The base LS trim level disappears and the upscale High Country trim level is new. Chevrolet also makes the formerly optional Trailering Package standard equipment—so it’s easier to take advantage of the Traverse’s 5,000-pound towing capacity—and a new Sun and Wheel Package is available. Those updates broaden this Chevy’s appeal but do not address perceived quality issues related to the powertrain and interior materials.

Verdict: Chevy gets a lot of things right with the 2025 Traverse. However, there are head-scratchers related to quality and usability. From the unpleasant engine note and cheap interior plastics to the fussy wiper controls and aggravating third-row folding process, the Traverse regularly draws unfavorable attention to itself.

2025 Porsche Cayenne

9/10

2025 Chevrolet Traverse

7/10

The 2025 Porsche Cayenne was available in two distinct styles: the standard SUV with a squared-off rear end and the sporty Cayenne Coupe. The trim levels ranged from the base Cayenne to the high-performance Cayenne Turbo GT, each featuring unique exterior elements. The GTS trim, which was the focus of this review, boasted high gloss black trim and bronze exhaust tips, along with a distinctive front fascia with larger air intakes and tinted headlights. The GTS also featured red brake calipers visible through 21-inch anthracite gray wheels. Inside, the Cayenne offered extensive customization options, from color choices to trim and seat belts, allowing owners to create a unique vehicle. The cabin was well-organized, with mechanical controls for essential features and a dashboard-mounted shifter toggle for added storage space.

The 2025 Chevrolet Traverse impressed with its exterior styling, consistent with Chevrolet's SUV lineup. Inside, the Traverse featured digital instrumentation and a Google-based infotainment system, though the quality of materials left something to be desired. The hard, glossy plastic and Evotex artificial leather detracted from the overall sense of quality. The Traverse was available in several trims, including the off-road-oriented Z71, which came with features like Radiant Red paint, a panoramic sunroof, and advanced driving packages. Despite its shortcomings in material quality, the Traverse offered a spacious and comfortable interior, making it a practical choice for families.

Performance

2025 Porsche Cayenne

2025 Chevrolet Traverse

6/10

The 2025 Porsche Cayenne offered a range of engines, all capable of delivering impressive performance. The base model featured a 3.0-liter V6 engine producing 348 horsepower and 368 pound-feet of torque. For those seeking more power, the Cayenne S offered a V8 engine with 468 hp, while the Turbo GT boasted 650 hp, though it was only available as a coupe. The GTS trim, with its twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine, delivered 493 hp and 486 lb-ft of torque, providing exhilarating acceleration. The Cayenne GTS could reach 60 mph in just 4.2 seconds and had a top speed of 171 mph. The vehicle's handling was exceptional, with precise steering and a low center of gravity, making it agile and responsive on the road. The GTS trim also featured optional carbon ceramic brakes for enhanced stopping power.

The 2025 Chevrolet Traverse was powered by a 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, producing 328 horsepower and 326 pound-feet of torque. While the engine's exhaust note was not particularly pleasing, it provided ample power for acceleration. The Traverse Z71 trim, designed for off-road adventures, featured an off-road suspension, all-terrain tires, and a Twin Clutch AWD system. The Z71's suspension handled rough terrain with ease, and the Terrain mode moderated power delivery for challenging conditions. The Traverse's driving modes included Tow/Haul, Normal, and Sport, though the vehicle's size and tires made it feel less sporty. The Traverse achieved an EPA-rated 21 mpg in combined driving, with our test vehicle averaging 21.5 mpg.

Form and function

2025 Chevrolet Traverse

7/10

The 2025 Porsche Cayenne offered a customizable interior with a range of options, though standard features were limited. The base model included eight-way power-adjustable seats, two-zone climate control, and ambient lighting. Higher trims like the GTS added features such as a GT Sport steering wheel and Race-Tex headliner. The Cayenne could accommodate five passengers, with a comfortable second row offering ample headroom. Cargo space was somewhat limited, with 27.3 cubic feet behind the second row in the standard model and 20.9 cubic feet in the coupe. The Cayenne's towing capacity was impressive, with the ability to tow over 7,700 pounds.

The 2025 Chevrolet Traverse excelled in interior space, offering a roomy cabin with eight-passenger seating. The front seats were comfortable, with an eight-way power-adjustable driver's seat. The Z71 trim featured heated front seats and a heated steering wheel. The second-row captain's chairs provided good comfort, though the lack of side window shades was a drawback. The third row offered adequate comfort but limited visibility. The Traverse provided 22.9 cubic feet of cargo space behind the third row, expanding to 97.6 cubic feet with the second row folded. However, folding the third row required adjusting the second-row seats.

The 2025 Porsche Cayenne featured a 12.6-inch digital gauge cluster and a 12.3-inch touchscreen display with the Porsche Communication Management system. The system included wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as Spotify, Apple Music, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. An optional 10.9-inch passenger screen allowed for media control and video streaming. The Cayenne also offered a head-up display, night-vision assist, and four USB-C charging ports, along with a cooled wireless charging area.

The 2025 Chevrolet Traverse boasted a standard 17.7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Google Built-in, offering Google Maps navigation, Google Assistant, and Google Play Store access. The system also included wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless smartphone charging, and SiriusXM 360L satellite radio. The Traverse's technology was user-friendly, with a simple interface and effective voice recognition. The vehicle also featured an 11-inch digital instrumentation panel with customizable views. Optional features included a digital rearview mirror and a high-definition surround-view camera system.
