2025 Porsche Cayenne Reviews Summary

Verdict: Even the base model Cayenne delivers an agile driving experience, but those willing to dig deep into their bank account for one of Porsche’s more expensive Cayenne models are rewarded with a spirited drive like no other. The competition here is stiff, in the form of other German SUVs like the Audi Q8, BMW X5, and Mercedes-Benz GLE, and their performance variants. However, the Cayenne is not here to lose.

2025 Hyundai Kona Reviews Summary

That there are no major changes beyond a couple of new trim levels for the 2025 Hyundai Kona is neither a surprise nor a bad thing. Not a surprise because this second-generation model only made its debut one year ago, making it too soon to expect any major updates. And not a bad thing because, frankly, this second-generation Kona was already a great subcompact SUV.

Time does not stand still, however, particularly when it comes to crossovers, so it’s time to find out how the Kona performs one year on, and whether it continues to deliver value in an increasingly busy part of the market.

2025 Porsche Cayenne

9/10

2025 Hyundai Kona

8/10

The 2025 Porsche Cayenne presented itself as a versatile luxury SUV, available in both a standard SUV form and a sporty Cayenne Coupe. The GTS trim, which was the focus of our review, stood out with its high gloss black trim and bronze exhaust tips, complemented by a unique front fascia with larger air intakes and tinted headlights. The 21-inch wheels in anthracite gray and red brake calipers added to its sporty appeal. Inside, the Cayenne offered extensive customization options, from color choices to trim and seat belts, allowing owners to create a unique interior. Despite the high level of personalization, the cabin layout was practical, with mechanical controls for essential features and a dashboard-mounted shifter toggle for added storage space.

In contrast, the 2025 Hyundai Kona maintained its fresh appearance from the previous year, with a distinctive single-piece grille and ultra-slim LED light bars that gave it a futuristic look. The Kona's increased size, being six inches longer than its predecessor, provided more interior space and a more assertive road presence. The N Line S and N Line trims offered a sportier design with body-colored bumpers and cladding. The interior remained unchanged from 2024, featuring solid construction and ample tech, with the addition of 64-color ambient lighting on higher trims. The Kona's practicality was evident in its spacious cargo area and comfortable seating, making it a versatile choice for families.

Performance

2025 Hyundai Kona

6/10

The 2025 Porsche Cayenne offered a range of engine options, each delivering impressive performance. The base model featured a 3.0-liter V6 engine producing 348 horsepower and 368 lb-ft of torque, while the Cayenne S boasted a V8 with 468 hp. The Turbo GT, available only as a coupe, delivered a staggering 650 hp. For those seeking peak performance, plug-in hybrid options offered up to 729 hp. The GTS trim, with its twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 producing 493 hp and 486 lb-ft of torque, struck a balance between sporty and comfortable driving. The Cayenne's agile handling was enhanced by components borrowed from the Turbo GT, including a lower center of gravity and precise steering. The GTS excelled in both Sport and Sport Plus modes, offering a thrilling driving experience, while Normal mode provided a comfortable commute.

The 2025 Hyundai Kona, while not as performance-focused as the Cayenne, offered two engine options for its gas-powered models. The SE, SEL, and SEL Convenience trims featured a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine with 147 horsepower and 132 lb-ft of torque, paired with a CVT for fuel efficiency. The N Line S, N Line, and Limited trims offered a more powerful turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine with 190 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque, mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. The turbo engine provided a broader torque band, enhancing performance, although it could feel flat at low revs. All-wheel drive was available across the lineup, offering improved handling and a dedicated Snow mode for added versatility.

Form and function

2025 Hyundai Kona

8/10

The 2025 Porsche Cayenne offered a customizable interior with a wide range of options, but standard features were limited. The base model included eight-way power-adjustable seats, heated but not cooled or massaged, and two-zone climate control. The GTS trim added a GT Sport steering wheel and Race-Tex headliner, with options for Race-Tex or leather upholstery. The Cayenne accommodated five passengers comfortably, with ample headroom in the second row. Cargo space was slightly smaller than competitors, with 27.3 cubic feet behind the second row in the standard model, expanding to over 60 cubic feet with seats folded. The coupe version offered less space, and plug-in hybrid models further reduced cargo capacity.

The 2025 Hyundai Kona impressed with its practicality, offering 25.5 cubic feet of cargo space with rear seats in place, expanding to 63.7 cubic feet when folded. Rear legroom was adequate at 38.2 inches, and front seats provided a generous range of movement. The Kona's interior featured various storage compartments, enhancing its usability. Upholstery options varied by trim, with cloth on lower trims and Alcantara or H-Tex leatherette on higher trims. Heating and ventilation features improved with trim level, with dual-zone climate control available on most models. The Kona's interior was well-equipped for comfort and convenience.

The 2025 Porsche Cayenne featured a 12.6-inch digital gauge cluster and a 12.3-inch touchscreen display with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. An optional 10.9-inch passenger screen allowed for media control and video streaming. The system was user-friendly, with quick response times and voice control options. A head-up display provided essential information, although it appeared dim with polarized sunglasses. The Cayenne included four USB-C charging ports and a cooled wireless charging area, ensuring devices stayed charged and cool.

The 2025 Hyundai Kona offered a 12.3-inch central touchscreen infotainment display with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Higher trims included wireless smartphone charging and a digital key. The SEL Convenience trim and above featured a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, enhancing customization and cohesion. The N Line and Limited trims offered an eight-speaker Bose audio system, while lower trims had a six-speaker setup. Hyundai's Bluelink connectivity allowed for over-the-air updates, ensuring features remained current.

Safety

2025 Hyundai Kona

9/10

The 2025 Porsche Cayenne included standard safety features like parking sensors, forward collision warning, and blind-spot monitoring. However, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and lane-departure warning were optional. Porsche's InnoDrive adaptive cruise control system offered advanced features but was not tested. The Cayenne lacked ratings from NHTSA and IIHS, leaving its safety performance unverified.

The 2025 Hyundai Kona impressed with its comprehensive safety features, including Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, and Blind-Spot Collision Warning as standard. Higher trims added Highway Driving Assist and enhanced Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist. The Limited trim included parking assistance features. The Kona's safety credentials were bolstered by its Top Safety Pick+ rating from IIHS, reflecting its strong safety performance.
