2025 Mercedes-Benz GLC Reviews Summary

Mercedes’ handsome compact SUV continues into the 2025 model year with a few revisions and a new plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) variant. With just two powertrain options and a simplified array of trims, the GLC shows us that a simple-yet-measured approach makes it a strong candidate up against compact luxury SUVs from Audi, BMW, Genesis, Lexus, Porsche, and Volvo.

Verdict: The 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLC-class is a handsome and compelling new car fit for most duties.

2027 Kia Telluride Hybrid Reviews Summary

The all-new second-generation 2027 Kia Telluride has big shoes to fill and seems to be easily up to the task. With ample power, an efficient Hybrid model, and clever design, it could very well be a class leader among very competitive rivals. There are also luxurious and terrain-capable variants to go along with the sensibly priced models, giving the Telluride even broader appeal than before.

Verdict: If the first-generation Telluride set the bar for value and family-friendly practicality, the second generation raises it. The latest Telluride adds a compelling hybrid option and a more upscale feel while keeping prices in check.

Look and feel

2025 Mercedes-Benz GLC

10/10

2027 Kia Telluride Hybrid

6/10

The 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLC adhered closely to Mercedes’ contemporary design ethos, presenting a visually appealing option in the compact crossover segment. Its taut lines and muscular shape flowed elegantly from the signature Mercedes star pattern grille and standard LED headlights. The taller, upright cabin and short overhangs suggested a multi-terrain capability, particularly in models without the AMG Line's painted wheel arch liners. The GLC's crisp headlights and detailed tail lights contributed to a fresh look, while the optional 20-inch AMG five-spoke wheels enhanced its athletic form. Inside, the GLC exuded luxury with contrasting leather-adorned interior door panels and premium materials. The GLC 350e PHEV featured supple white leather seats with heating and ventilation options, offering great adjustability and a commanding road view. The interior was further accentuated by faux carbon fiber, satin-stitched leather, and painted aluminum trim.

The 2027 Kia Telluride Hybrid showcased a bold design that could polarize opinions, particularly with its flat, wide grille. The vehicle's personality varied with color and trim, with body-colored vertical strakes that blended better in darker shades. The X-Line and X-Pro models replaced these strakes with rectangular grille blocks and distinctive amber accent lights. The side profile featured unique faceted fender sculpting and black plastic tabs atop each wheel well, while the rear view adopted a Range Rover-like style with rounded corners and vertical taillights. Inside, the Telluride's interior was less controversial, featuring a simple horizontal dashboard layout and a modern, buttonless appearance. The Hybrid SX Prestige trim offered a luxurious two-tone palette, though the silver button labeling was hard to read. The seats, covered in synthetic leather and suede, had firm cushions that could be uncomfortable on long drives. The surrounding materials were of excellent quality, with various trim surfaces available, including engineered wood and carbon fiber.

Performance

2025 Mercedes-Benz GLC

8/10

2027 Kia Telluride Hybrid

7/10

The 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLC offered a range of powertrains, including the GLC 300 with rear-wheel drive or 4Matic all-wheel drive, and the GLC 350e 4Matic plug-in hybrid. All models were powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. The GLC 300 produced 255 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque, while the 350e's output was slightly lower at 201 hp and 236 lb-ft. However, the 300's 48-volt mild-hybrid system added 23 hp and 148 lb-ft of torque, enabling a 6.2-second 0-60 mph time. The 350e's hybrid system, with a 23.3-kWh battery and electric motor, delivered a combined 313 hp and 406 lb-ft, matching the 300's 0-60 time despite its additional weight. The GLC excelled in urban and highway driving, with its hybridization providing substantial torque for quick acceleration and passing. The ride quality was solid, with excellent handling and steering, making it suitable for road trips and off-road adventures. The braking performance was adequate, with regenerative braking enhancing its 54-mile electric range.

The 2027 Kia Telluride Hybrid was powered by a 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 274 horsepower and 311 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The Telluride Hybrid added electric motors and a 1.65-kWh battery pack, increasing output to 329 hp and 339 lb-ft. It was mated to a six-speed transmission and was not available in the off-road-capable X-Pro trims. The Telluride Hybrid offered ample power and a quiet ride, with seamless transitions between electric and gas modes. The standard Telluride delivered a smooth ride, with the X-Pro Prestige trim providing comfort despite its off-road suspension. The Hybrid SX Prestige had a stiffer ride with its 20-inch wheels, but the suspension managed to absorb bumps effectively. On winding roads, the Telluride was composed and controllable, though not particularly sporty. The brake pedal effort was soft, requiring adjustment, but panic stops were immediate and controlled.

Form and function

2025 Mercedes-Benz GLC

8/10

2027 Kia Telluride Hybrid

8/10

The 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLC offered good front-seat space, with ample hip, shoulder, and legroom, even for taller drivers. However, the rear seats were tighter on leg and headroom, a common issue in the compact crossover segment. The front seats featured a clever design to maximize rear legroom, though rear passengers couldn't stretch out. The GLC's boxy shape provided 21.9 cubic feet of cargo space, expanding to 52.6 cubic feet with the rear seats folded. This was practical for stowing luggage and everyday items, despite being smaller than some competitors. The split rear seat dropped easily, allowing for larger items like an XL-sized road bike. The GLC's hybridization offered an estimated fuel economy of 29.3 mpg, with the 350e achieving 23 mpg city, 28 mpg highway, and 25 mpg combined in hybrid mode, and 60 MPGe city, 70 MPGe highway, and 64 MPGe combined in all-electric mode.

The 2027 Kia Telluride Hybrid provided ample space for adults in all three rows, though the rearmost row was better suited for smaller passengers. The seat cushions were low, reducing thigh support, but headroom and legroom were adequate. The elevated seating position offered a better view out the front. The Hybrid SX Prestige featured power-adjustable second-row seats with heating and ventilation, comparable to business-class airline seats. The middle-row seats had significant travel, allowing for more cargo or third-row legroom. The Telluride offered 22.3 cubic feet of cargo space behind the third row, expanding to 48.7 cubic feet with the seatbacks folded, and up to 89.3 cubic feet with the second-row seatbacks flat. The Hybrid models lost only about one cubic foot of cargo space. The Telluride could tow up to 5,000 pounds, or 4,500 for the Hybrid. For smaller items, the front seats had a large center bin, shallow armrest bin, and medium-sized door pockets, while the second row had a tray and bin, and the third row had dual cupholders.

The 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLC featured the third-generation MBUX infotainment system, with haptic controls for the steering wheel, climate control, and infotainment. The 11.9-inch touchscreen required precise swipe intensity, with occasional sluggish response. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Bluetooth connected seamlessly, and the screen resolution was good. The Burmester 3D surround sound system provided excellent audio quality, enhancing the driving experience with customizable ambient lighting.

The 2027 Kia Telluride Hybrid came with a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel, a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, and a 5-inch touchscreen for climate controls. The infotainment system was user-friendly, though it required a firm tap to register. The climate control screen was difficult to use while driving, but physical temperature control buttons were available. The infotainment screen could be customized with themes from various brand collaborations. The Telluride SX trim and above featured a 14-speaker Meridian premium audio system, delivering powerful and clear sound.

The 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLC came standard with advanced safety features, including blind-spot monitoring, active parking assistance, automatic high beams, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and active braking assistance. The optional Driver Assistance Package added adaptive cruise control, steering assist, lane-change assist, lane-keep assist, automatic emergency braking, evasive maneuvering, and speed limit assist. These features worked smoothly, enhancing the driving experience in traffic.

The 2027 Kia Telluride Hybrid included standard safety features such as frontal collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, parking proximity sensors, highway driving assist, and rear passenger sensors. Higher trims added a surround-view camera system, blind-spot camera system, side parking proximity sensors, and automatic reverse braking. The driver attention monitor had occasional operational issues, but the highway driving assist was effective on longer trips.
