2023 BMW X1 Reviews Summary

The all-new, third-generation X1 is zippy and fun enough to be worthy of the distinction, but with new capability and plenty of cargo space, it’s bringing the utility, too.

2024 Toyota Land Cruiser Reviews Summary

Well, we say “finally.” In fact, the US market has only gone without the Land Cruiser for two years, but the fandom made it clear that was two years too many. The new stateside Land Cruiser is an all-new model for 2024. Its coming was presaged by the Lexus GX with which it shares a platform, but Toyota made sure that this midsize SUV falls squarely in its own segment.

Verdict: The new 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser is the latest in a spate of automotive reboots, and it just may be the best of them. The new Land Cruiser combines retro styling and excellent off-road capability with the latest in comfort and convenience and, of course, brand heritage. But Toyota may be relying too heavily on the revered nameplate to justify the price, particularly since it’s changed some of the fundamental characteristics of the model.

8/10

2024 Toyota Land Cruiser

9/10

The 2023 BMW X1 presented itself as a refined evolution of its predecessor, maintaining its recognizable X1 identity while enhancing its robustness and sophistication. The larger, squarer kidney grille was a subtle yet assertive update, signaling the vehicle's readiness for more dynamic air intake. The flush door handles, reminiscent of the i4, and the standard LED headlights and taillights added to its modern appeal. The exterior color palette expanded significantly, offering 13 choices, including five new vibrant options, which added a fresh dynamism to its appearance. The availability of 20-inch wheels for the first time, wrapped in performance tires, further emphasized its sporty character. Inside, the X1's cabin exuded a premium feel with its BMW Curved Display and clean, uncluttered design. The SensaTec 2.0 seat coverings provided comfort without the need for real leather, and the M Sport Package added sporty elements like bolstered seats and an M leather steering wheel. The panoramic moonroof was a standout feature, enhancing the sense of space and luxury within the cabin.

The 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser, with its boxy design and flat roof, paid homage to its iconic predecessors while incorporating modern elements. Each of the three trims featured details reminiscent of past models, such as the heritage grille and round or rectangular headlights, all now equipped with LED lighting. The vehicle's design updates included a lowered beltline for improved visibility and standard 18-inch alloy wheels, with 20-inch options available for the middle trim. The First Edition trim came with additional off-road gear, enhancing its rugged appeal. Inside, the Land Cruiser offered a range of seating materials, from cloth in the base trim to real leather in the First Edition, with heated front seats standard across all trims. The cabin design emphasized comfort and functionality, with features like a padded center console and contrast stitching. The Premium Package added luxury touches like a moonroof and ventilated front seats, making the interior a pleasant space for both on-road and off-road adventures.

The new seven-speed dual-clutch transmission replaced the previous eight-speed automatic, providing a more engaging driving experience, especially with the paddle shifters included in the M Sport Package. The Adaptive M Suspension and damping systems were upgraded for improved comfort and stability, minimizing body roll and enhancing the vehicle's agility.
