2025 Jeep Wrangler Reviews Summary

You know what you’re getting with the Jeep Wrangler: Iconic looks and legendary off-road ability but an overall package somewhat out of step with the times. Even so, it’s a model that’s continually evolving and Jeep does its best to appeal to the broadest cross-section of customers possible. You can get a Wrangler with two-door or four-door body styles, and your choice between three engines and seven trim levels. This year, all 2025 Wrangler models have standard power windows and door locks, the V6/automatic drivetrain returns to the lineup, while new colors include ’41 (drab green), Mojito (bright green), and Joose (orange).

Verdict: Rough, raw, and unrefined, the 2025 Wrangler is made for adventure and getting dirty. The top comes off. The doors come off. There are drain holes in the floor so that you can hose it out. This Jeep can be unpleasant to drive daily, yet we love it just the same.

2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 Reviews Summary

It would appear to be the calendar, not the competition, that has the Ioniq 5 due for a mid-cycle refresh. We liked it when it burst onto the scene as an angular oddball in a sea of soft-lined sameness, and it has only improved over the last few years.

Verdict: Hyundai makes minor but welcome changes and avoids tweaking the many things that were working well, successfully making a good thing better.

2025 Jeep Wrangler

6/10

2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5

9/10

The 2025 Jeep Wrangler Sport S, with its black-on-black color scheme, was not the ideal choice for a tropical climate like Hawaii. Despite the initial disappointment, the vehicle's open-air design, with removable panels and windows down, made the color less of an issue. The Wrangler's design, rooted in its military heritage, evoked a sense of American freedom and adventure. The Sport S trim, priced at nearly $50,000, offered a few options like a turbocharged four-cylinder engine and a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system. However, the interior focused more on functionality than luxury, with durable materials designed to withstand dirt and sand.

In contrast, the 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 maintained its distinctive retro-inspired design, reminiscent of the Lancia Delta, with minor updates to its front fascia. The new XRT trim stood out with its red tow hooks and digital camouflage pattern, adding a rugged aesthetic. The Ioniq 5's interior remained minimalistic and modern, with a focus on functionality. The movable center console and standard heated front seats added to the comfort, while the transition to the North American Charging System (NACS) allowed access to Tesla's Supercharger network, enhancing its practicality for electric vehicle owners.

Performance

8/10

The 2025 Jeep Wrangler offered two engine options: a 3.6-liter V6 with a six-speed manual transmission and a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The latter produced 270 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque, offering a lively performance, especially at higher elevations. The Wrangler's standard four-wheel drive, high ground clearance, and generous approach and departure angles made it well-suited for off-road adventures. However, its rough ride and three-star rollover resistance rating from the NHTSA were concerns for on-road driving.

The 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 XRT, designed for light off-road use, featured a Terrain Mode with options for Snow, Mud, and Sand, adjusting throttle mapping and power distribution. The XRT's all-wheel drive and dual motors produced 320 horsepower and 446 pound-feet of torque, providing a fun driving experience with instant electric torque. The Ioniq 5's range varied by trim, with the XRT offering 259 miles on a single charge. The vehicle's regenerative braking system allowed for smooth off-road handling, while its on-road performance was expected to be similar to the Limited trim.

Form and function

2025 Jeep Wrangler

4/10

2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5

9/10

The 2025 Jeep Wrangler's high ground clearance and narrow door openings made entry and exit challenging. The Sport S trim's cloth upholstery and heated front seats added comfort, but rear-seat legroom was limited. Cargo space was reasonable, with 31.7 cubic feet available, expandable to 72.4 cubic feet with the rear seats folded. However, accessing the cargo area was cumbersome due to the tailgate and rear window design.

The 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 addressed previous complaints by adding a rear windshield wiper and improving the center console's functionality. The interior offered generous head and legroom, with cargo space measuring 26.3 cubic feet, expandable to 58.5 cubic feet. The Ioniq 5's transition to the NACS charging system and inclusion of a CCS adapter enhanced its charging capabilities, making it a practical choice for electric vehicle owners.

Technology

The 2025 Jeep Wrangler's Uconnect 5 infotainment system featured a 12.3-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and an optional nine-speaker Alpine sound system. The Convenience Group pack added a 7-inch digital display and passive entry, enhancing the vehicle's technological appeal. However, the Wrangler's tech offerings were limited compared to more modern vehicles.

The 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 boasted a pair of 12.3-inch screens with improved functionality and faster processing speeds. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto were standard, and the Bose Premium Audio system was available on higher trims. The Ioniq 5's tech features included navigation, dynamic voice recognition, and a head-up display, providing a comprehensive and user-friendly experience.

Safety

The 2025 Jeep Wrangler added side curtain airbags as standard equipment, but advanced driver assistance systems were mostly optional. The Wrangler received a four-star frontal-impact rating and a three-star rollover resistance rating from the NHTSA. The IIHS rated it Good for side-impact protection but Marginal for small overlap frontal-impact tests.

The 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 continued to earn high safety ratings, with a Top Safety Pick+ award from the IIHS and a five-star rating from the NHTSA. New safety features included an enhanced driver attention system and parking-distance warnings. The Ioniq 5's Highway Driving Assist systems provided advanced driver assistance, making it a safer choice for consumers.
