2024 Toyota Sienna Reviews Summary

Now in its fourth generation, the latest family hauler is offered only as a fuel-sipping hybrid model with three rows of seating and power sliding doors. Plus the Sienna comes standard with plenty of safety features and it’s comfy to boot. Why even both with an SUV?

Verdict: The 2024 Toyota Sienna delivers impressive fuel efficiency, thanks to its standard hybrid engine. Toyota also offers optional all-wheel drive, and many shoppers may appreciate the Sienna's dramatic exterior styling. Performance, while efficient, isn't thrilling, and the Sienna's tech is looking a bit outdated. Otherwise, this minivan delivers great value.

2024 Ford Bronco Reviews Summary

Ford reintroduced the Bronco for the 2021 model year, and it’s been an exciting run ever since. Initial demand far outstripped supply, but Ford went ahead and added the more-capable Everglades and Raptor versions to the 2022 Bronco lineup. Heritage-inspired variants followed them up for 2023. Now, the 2024 Bronco adds a standard 12-inch Sync 4 infotainment system, a more rugged front bumper on the Bronco Badlands, and two new colors for the Bronco Raptor.

Verdict: In the summer of 2024, Ford is still clearing unsold 2023 Broncos from inventory, suggesting cooling demand for the rough and tough SUV. A federal investigation into V6 engine problems and poor fuel economy ratings aren’t helping to sell them. Nevertheless, there is plenty to love about the 2024 Ford Bronco.

2024 Toyota Sienna

8/10

2024 Ford Bronco

8/10

The 2024 Toyota Sienna was available in several trim levels, including LE, XLE, XSE, Woodland Edition, Limited, and Platinum, each offering a distinctive look. Despite the absence of the "swagger wagon" commercials, the Sienna maintained its stylish appeal with sleek front and rear fascias and a range of cool colors like deep blue, red, or green. LED lighting was standard, with upper trims featuring Bi-LED projector headlamps. The XSE trim, known for its sporty appearance, included a black metallic mesh front grille, black heated side mirrors, and 20-inch dark wheels. The Woodland Edition, available in exclusive Cement or Midnight Black Metallic colors, was designed for a bit more off-road readiness, featuring roof rails with crossbars, a tow hitch, and slightly increased ground clearance.

Inside, the Sienna offered standard cloth seats, three-zone climate control, and room for eight passengers. The XSE trim with the optional Premium package replaced the second-row bench seat with two captain’s chairs and added heated and cooled leather-trimmed front seats. The interior design featured horizontal lines for a spacious feel, a fixed center console with satin accents, and easily accessible cup holders and shifter. While not luxurious, the interior was practical for families, with upper trims offering a built-in vacuum cleaner for convenience.

The 2024 Ford Bronco embraced a retro design reminiscent of the 1960s, particularly successful in the two-door model. The Sasquatch Package, a popular upgrade, added a suspension lift, 35-inch mud-terrain tires, and other off-roading enhancements, giving the Bronco a rugged and purposeful appearance. The Bronco was available in nine versions, including the Raptor performance model, with prices ranging from $41,525 to $91,930. Our test vehicle, a four-door Big Bend trim with the Sasquatch Package, had an MSRP of $55,415.

Inside, the Bronco offered comfort in both two-door and four-door body styles, with the latter providing more room than its primary rival, the Jeep Wrangler. The marine-grade vinyl upholstery, while durable, did not breathe well, making cloth seats in the Heritage Edition a preferable option. The Bronco featured removable roof panels and doors, allowing for a customizable open-air driving experience. Interior storage was practical, with MOLLE panels on the front seat backs for customizable storage solutions. Cargo space varied depending on the model, with the two-door offering up to 53.3 cubic feet and the four-door up to 83 cubic feet with seats folded.

Performance

2024 Toyota Sienna

6/10

2024 Ford Bronco

8/10

The 2024 Toyota Sienna was powered by a hybrid system combining a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with two electric motors, producing a total of 245 horsepower. All-wheel drive models included an additional electric motor for the rear wheels. Despite a sport-tuned suspension and a Sport mode button, the Sienna's performance was not particularly thrilling, with a sluggish feel off the line and a continuously variable transmission (CVT) that contributed to a less engaging driving experience. The minivan excelled in smooth acceleration but struggled with highway merging and mountain passes. Around town, the Sienna offered a pleasant driving experience, with Normal or Eco mode being the most suitable. The brakes were occasionally grabby, but the steering was light and accurate, and visibility was excellent.

The 2024 Ford Bronco Big Bend came standard with a turbocharged 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine, delivering 300 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque. A seven-speed manual transmission with a low first gear for rock crawling was available, as well as a 10-speed automatic transmission. The Bronco's optional turbocharged 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 engine produced 330 hp and 415 lb-ft of torque, while the Raptor's exclusive 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 offered 418 hp and 440 lb-ft. The Bronco's part-time four-wheel-drive system was standard, with an advanced system available as an upgrade. The Bronco featured numerous G.O.A.T. (Goes Over Any Terrain) driving modes and off-roading technologies like Trail Control, Trail One-Pedal Drive, and Trail Turn Assist. The Bronco's fuel efficiency was a concern, with an EPA rating of 18 mpg in the city and 17 mpg on the highway for the Big Bend Sasquatch. During testing, the Bronco averaged 16.9 mpg, with its off-road capabilities shining on challenging terrain.

Form and function

The 2024 Toyota Sienna offered practical interior features, including a lower storage pass-through for bulkier items, four cupholders up front, and a shelf above the glovebox housing a wireless charging pad. The second-row captain’s chairs could slide fore and aft 25 inches, providing up to 40 inches of legroom. However, the slide function was complicated, and the seats couldn't be removed, limiting maximum cargo space. The third row was accessible for adults, with 39 inches of legroom when the second row was pushed forward. The Sienna featured tri-zone climate control, with an additional zone for the front passenger in the XSE trim. The rear liftgate revealed 33.5 cubic feet of cargo space, expandable to 101 cubic feet with the second row folded.

The 2024 Ford Bronco's interior was comfortable, with the four-door model offering more room than the two-door. The marine-grade vinyl upholstery was durable but trapped moisture, making cloth seats in the Heritage Edition a preferable option.

Technology

The 2024 Toyota Sienna was equipped with Toyota’s older infotainment technology, featuring a nine-inch touchscreen with wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The system included physical buttons for common menus, but the backup camera's grainy view was disappointing. The Sienna offered a standard Wi-Fi hotspot, SiriusXM satellite radio, and an optional 12-speaker JBL stereo system. USB ports were scattered throughout the cabin, and a 1500-watt inverter with a 120-volt outlet was available for the second row and rear cargo area.

The 2024 Ford Bronco featured a 12-inch touchscreen version of its Sync 4 infotainment system, with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, FordPass Connect services, SiriusXM 360L satellite radio, and a seven-speaker stereo system. Higher trims included a connected navigation system and a premium Bang & Olufsen sound system. The Bronco's Sync 4 technology experienced connectivity issues with Apple CarPlay and inconsistent voice recognition performance. The Bronco Trail App provided access to maps and information for trails across North America.

Safety

The 2024 Toyota Sienna came standard with the Toyota Safety Sense suite, including lane departure alert, automatic emergency braking, road sign recognition, full-speed adaptive cruise control, and automatic high beams. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert were also standard. The Sienna received a four-star rating from the NHTSA for frontal crash and rollover protection and a five-star rating for side crash protection. The IIHS rated the Sienna "Good" in crashworthiness but "Average" in front crash prevention.

The 2024 Ford Bronco Big Bend included standard safety features like forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and a backup camera. The Mid Package added Ford Co-Pilot360 technologies, including lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. The IIHS rated the Bronco four-door favorably, except for its headlight performance, which received a Marginal score. The NHTSA gave the Bronco a four-star frontal-impact rating and a three-star rating for rollover resistance.
