2024 Toyota Sequoia Reviews Summary

The Toyota Sequoia gained a standard hybrid powertrain when it entered its third generation, just last year. While the tech updates were widely celebrated and the facelift considered unobjectionable even by its harshest critics, the move to hybrid power proved to be something of a mixed bag. Increased towing and hauling power bolstered the obvious advantage of improved fuel economy, but impact was somewhat dampened by the reduction in cargo and third-row space to accommodate the new battery.

Verdict: The Sequoia may not be the most capable full-size SUV in the segment, and it’s certainly not the most spacious. It is, however, the only hybrid in its class, and it offers a blend of seating capacity, towing power, and fuel efficiency you won’t find elsewhere-at least, not if you don’t want to go diesel.

2025 INFINITI QX80 Reviews Summary

The 2025 Infiniti QX80 is the Nissan luxury brand’s de facto flagship. It’s a full-size SUV that competes with the BMW X7, Cadillac Escalade, Land Rover Range Rover, Lexus LX, Lincoln Navigator, and Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class. The QX80 benefits from a redesign for 2025 with new styling, a new powertrain, and updated tech features.

Verdict: The QX80 emphasizes interior space and tech gadgets over driving dynamics.

2025 INFINITI QX80

8/10

The 2024 Toyota Sequoia shared its platform with the Tundra pickup, featuring hexagonal grilles, strong fender creases, and a muscular stance. The exterior color significantly influenced its appearance. The Capstone model, with its chrome accents, appeared somewhat dated in Celestial Silver, reminiscent of a "cop car." However, a switch to Solar Octane orange with black accents transformed it into a playful "Tonka truck." Inside, the Sequoia mirrored the Tundra's blocky, geometric dashboard design, complete with physical dials and buttons. The Capstone trim boasted semi-aniline leather upholstery, while other trims offered a range of seating materials. All models featured power-adjustable front seats and a power moonroof, enhancing customization and comfort.

The 2025 INFINITI QX80 underwent its first redesign since 2017, growing slightly in size while retaining its body-on-frame architecture. The new frame improved torsional and lateral stiffness, aligning with other body-on-frame SUVs like the Cadillac Escalade and Lincoln Navigator. The QX80's styling updates were most notable at the front, with a larger grille and stacked-headlight setup, creating an imposing look. The rear retained its shape but featured full-width LED taillights. The QX80 offered trims from Pure to Autobiography, with varying wheel sizes and a standard panoramic moonroof. Inside, the cabin received a high-tech makeover with a large horizontal display and ambient lighting, though shiny black plastic trim detracted from the premium feel.

2025 INFINITI QX80

6/10

The 2024 Toyota Sequoia was exclusively available as a hybrid, utilizing Toyota's iForce MAX hybrid powertrain. This combined a twin-turbo V6 engine with an electric motor, producing 437 horsepower and 583 lb-ft of torque, surpassing its V8 predecessor. Fuel economy improved to 20 mpg combined with 4WD. The TRD Pro trim offered 4WD with off-road features, while other trims required an additional cost for 4WD. The 10-speed automatic transmission provided smooth operation. The Sequoia's towing capacity increased to 9,520 pounds, with various towing upgrades available.

The 2025 INFINITI QX80 featured a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6, replacing the previous 5.6-liter V8. This engine delivered 450 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque, paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. The QX80 felt more energetic, though active sound enhancement added artificial noise. Base models had steel-sprung suspension, while higher trims included air suspension with adaptive damping. The QX80 offered 10 inches of ground clearance and adjusted ride height for aerodynamics and ease of entry. Despite its size, handling was average, typical for large SUVs.

The 2024 Toyota Sequoia Capstone featured automatic power-deploying running boards, aiding entry. Cargo space maxed at 86.9 cubic feet with seats folded, while third-row seats affected headroom and legroom due to the hybrid battery. Second-row captain’s chairs were available on higher trims, though they lacked bolstering. Legroom varied across rows, with the Sequoia trailing some rivals in space.

The 2025 INFINITI QX80's redesign increased cargo space significantly, offering 101 cubic feet with seats folded. Power liftgate and power-folding seats facilitated reconfiguration. Passenger space was generous, with increased legroom in the first and third rows. Heated, ventilated, and massaging seats were available. The QX80's towing capacity reached 8,500 pounds, competitive among luxury SUVs.

The 2024 Toyota Sequoia Capstone included standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, accessed via an 8-inch or 14-inch touchscreen. The Toyota Audio Multimedia system prioritized functionality over flashiness. A 12.3-inch driver-information display and Panoramic View monitor were standard, with a 10-inch head-up display available. The JBL Premium Audio system was standard on higher trims.

The 2025 INFINITI QX80 featured dual 14.3-inch screens for the instrument cluster and infotainment, with a 9-inch touchscreen for additional controls. Google built-in apps provided navigation and voice recognition. The infotainment system's graphics resembled those of Nissan vehicles, and the lower touchscreen required firm presses. Klipsch sound systems varied by trim, with advanced audio tech in higher models. A 360-degree camera system offered multiple views, enhancing safety and convenience.

ProPilot Assist provided highway-driving assistance, with hands-free driving available on higher trims.
