2024 Toyota Sequoia Reviews Summary

The Toyota Sequoia gained a standard hybrid powertrain when it entered its third generation, just last year. While the tech updates were widely celebrated and the facelift considered unobjectionable even by its harshest critics, the move to hybrid power proved to be something of a mixed bag. Increased towing and hauling power bolstered the obvious advantage of improved fuel economy, but impact was somewhat dampened by the reduction in cargo and third-row space to accommodate the new battery.

Verdict: The Sequoia may not be the most capable full-size SUV in the segment, and it’s certainly not the most spacious. It is, however, the only hybrid in its class, and it offers a blend of seating capacity, towing power, and fuel efficiency you won’t find elsewhere-at least, not if you don’t want to go diesel.

2024 Hyundai Venue Reviews Summary

A small multi-purpose vehicle that Hyundai sells as a crossover SUV, the 2024 Venue has a base price of $21,275, including the destination charge. Three versions are available, each equipped with a 121-horsepower four-cylinder engine and front-wheel drive. It holds four adults (five if you squeeze) and can carry up to 31.9 cubic feet of cargo. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and the Venue includes important safety features. You can expect 31 mpg in combined driving.

Verdict: One of the best things about the Venue is the value it provides. You get a long warranty with roadside assistance, complimentary scheduled maintenance for three years or 36,000 miles, and with the top trim level, lifetime access to connected services. Affordable to buy and own, the 2024 Hyundai Venue is a budget-friendly choice.

2024 Hyundai Venue

8/10

The 2024 Toyota Sequoia shared its platform and design cues with the Tundra pickup, featuring hexagonal grilles, strong fender creases, and a muscular stance. The exterior color significantly influenced its appearance. The Capstone model, with its chrome accents and Celestial Silver paint, appeared somewhat dated, reminiscent of a "cop car." However, a switch to Solar Octane orange and black accents transformed it into a playful "Tonka truck." Inside, the Sequoia mirrored the Tundra's blocky, geometric dashboard design, complete with physical dials and buttons. The Capstone trim boasted semi-aniline leather upholstery, while other trims offered fabric, SofTex, or leather seating. All models featured power-adjustable front seats and a power-tilt and -slide moonroof, enhancing customization and comfort.

The 2024 Hyundai Venue, available in SE, SEL, and Limited trims, offered a stylish and mature design, especially in Ecotronic Gray. Despite its affordability, the Venue exuded genuine style. Inside, it featured hard plastics but maintained a sense of quality with striped seat designs and white dashboard trim. The Limited trim added digital instrumentation and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment display. The Venue's controls were user-friendly, and the overall design was thoughtfully executed, making it a high-quality small SUV.

The 2024 Toyota Sequoia was exclusively available as a hybrid, utilizing Toyota's iForce MAX hybrid powertrain. This system combined a twin-turbo V6 engine with an electric motor, producing 437 horsepower and 583 lb-ft of torque. This marked a significant increase over its predecessor, with improved fuel economy rated at 20 mpg combined with 4WD. The Sequoia offered a 10-speed automatic transmission and a maximum towing capacity of 9,520 pounds. The TRD Pro trim featured off-road enhancements, including all-terrain tires and an off-road suspension.

The 2024 Hyundai Venue was equipped with a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine, generating 121 horsepower and 113 lb-ft of torque. Weighing 2,612 pounds, the Venue's CVT maximized its power for city and suburban driving. While it handled well in urban environments, the Venue's suspension struggled on rough roads. It maintained highway speeds but lacked power when fully loaded. The Venue's front-wheel-drive setup and 6.7 inches of ground clearance made it suitable for light snow but not off-road adventures. It achieved an EPA rating of 31 mpg combined, though real-world testing yielded slightly lower results.

The 2024 Toyota Sequoia Capstone featured automatic power-deploying running boards, aiding entry for shorter passengers. Cargo space reached a maximum of 86.9 cubic feet with seats folded, while third-row legroom ranged from 28.1 to 33.7 inches. Second-row captain's chairs were available on higher trims, though they lacked bolstering. The Sequoia's interior dimensions placed it behind some rivals in terms of space.

The 2024 Hyundai Venue offered increased ground clearance, facilitating easy entry and exit. The driver's seat had manual height adjustment, and the steering wheel was tilt-and-telescopic. The Venue's back seat was best for two passengers, with limited storage and no rear air vents. Cargo space was 18.7 cubic feet, expanding to 31.9 cubic feet with the rear seats folded.

The 2024 Toyota Sequoia Capstone came equipped with a 14-inch touchscreen, offering wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Toyota Audio Multimedia system prioritized functionality over flashiness. A 12.3-inch driver-information display and a Panoramic View monitor were standard. The Capstone trim also featured a 10-inch head-up display and a 14-speaker JBL Premium Audio system.

The 2024 Hyundai Venue featured an 8-inch touchscreen with modern graphics and logical menus. Standard tech included Bluetooth, wireless Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. The Limited trim added navigation, SiriusXM, and a wireless charger, though it required wired connections for smartphone integration. The Venue's infotainment system was sophisticated, with impressive voice recognition.

The 2024 Hyundai Venue came with Hyundai SmartSense, offering forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, and blind-spot monitoring. The Limited trim added cyclist detection.
