Verdict: The 2024 Toyota Prius is the right car for lots of people. Blending intriguing design with comfortable front seats and a practical interior at an appealing price, the Prius is perfect for daily driving and will save you plenty of money at the gas pump.

2025 Toyota Camry Reviews Summary

The Camry is a perennial favorite among families. It’s earned its popularity, with a reputation for reliability and safety, but it also hasn’t had as many competitors to contend with as its crossover siblings have. The few rivals it does have are all either new or recently refreshed, and now, the same can be said of the Camry. For 2025 it debuts a new look, new features, and a new hybrid powertrain, and it sets a new baseline standard for the high-selling midsize sedan.

Verdict: Toyota knows its audience. The new 2025 Toyota Camry gives the people what they want, with up-to-date styling and tech, a strong value proposition helped along by excellent fuel economy, and, most importantly, no fatal flaws that might push a brand loyalist out of their comfort zone.

2024 Toyota Prius

7/10

2025 Toyota Camry

7/10

The 2024 Toyota Prius retained its iconic wedge-shaped profile, but the redesign in 2023 introduced a more appealing and aerodynamic bodywork. The XLE and Limited trims stood out with their attractive 19-inch aluminum wheels, replacing the previous 17-inch alloys. Inside, the Prius maintained its quirky charm, with the instrumentation moving to a more driver-centric position, though visibility issues persisted depending on seating adjustments. The interior was marred by hard plastics, leading to a flimsy feel despite Toyota's reputation for durability. The 2024 model saw no changes, continuing in LE, XLE, and Limited trims, with prices ranging from $27,950 to $34,965, excluding destination charges. Our XLE test vehicle, equipped with options like Supersonic Red paint and a 12.3-inch touchscreen, had an MSRP of $35,532.

The 2025 Toyota Camry showcased a new front design, echoing the Prius and Lexus spindle grille, with standard LED headlights and DRLs. The profile remained similar, but the rear window surround extended further, emphasizing the coupe-like roof. The base LE trim featured 16-inch alloy wheels, while SE and XLE trims had black 18-inch wheels, and the XSE boasted 19-inch wheels in black and Smoke Gray. Sporty touches like front air ducts and rear diffusers adorned the SE and XSE trims. The XSE offered a two-tone paint option, including the new Ocean Gem color. Inside, the Camry's new dash layout impressed, though the quilted Dinamica microfiber in the XLE test car raised concerns about cleanliness. The base LE trim had fabric seating, SE had SofTex synthetic leather, and XSE featured perforated leather seats.

Performance

The 2024 Toyota Prius received a significant power boost with its redesign, boasting a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine paired with an 83-kilowatt electric motor and a lithium-ion battery. The hybrid system delivered 194 horsepower with FWD and 196 hp with AWD, achieving 0-60 mph in 7.2 seconds for FWD and seven seconds flat for AWD. The Prius LE was the most fuel-efficient, with EPA ratings of 57 mpg combined (54 mpg with AWD), thanks to its smaller wheels and lighter weight. The XLE and Limited trims offered 52 mpg (49 mpg with AWD). Our test car averaged 48.3 mpg on a mountainous route, showcasing the Prius's efficiency without sacrificing driving enjoyment. However, the steering felt artificial, and the CVT could be noisy under hard acceleration. Visibility was also a concern due to the dramatic windshield pillars.

The 2025 Toyota Camry introduced Toyota's fifth-generation hybrid system, combining a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with electric motors. FWD models had two motors, producing 225 horsepower, while AWD models had three motors, delivering 232 hp. The electronic AWD system provided extra traction with minimal impact on fuel economy, estimated at 50 mpg combined for AWD and 51 mpg for FWD. The Camry offered two suspension tunings, with the XLE focusing on comfort. The hybrid system transitioned smoothly between gas and electric power, though engine noise was noticeable at higher speeds. The braking feel was natural, and the EV mode allowed for battery-only driving at low speeds. The Camry's handling felt planted, and the acoustic laminated glass reduced road and wind noise.

Form and function

The 2024 Toyota Prius's dramatic exterior styling resulted in a snug interior. The driver’s seat was comfortable, but the windshield and gauges felt distant. The 7-inch display panel was too small and cluttered, with visibility issues depending on the steering wheel position. The rear seats felt cramped but were comfortable for two passengers. Storage space was adequate, with a wireless charging slot that could collect dirt over time. The Prius XLE and Limited offered 20.3 cubic feet of cargo space (23.8 cubic feet for the LE), but the cargo cover limited capacity. An optional digital rearview mirror provided a panoramic view when the cargo hold was full.

The 2025 Toyota Camry XLE test car featured a heated steering wheel, power-adjustable front seats, and dual-zone climate control. Heated and ventilated front seats were optional for XLE and XSE trims, and a panoramic moonroof was available. Interior dimensions were expected to be similar to the 2024 model, with front-row legroom comparable to the Honda Accord Hybrid. Trunk space was estimated at 15.1 cubic feet, slightly less than the Accord. The Camry's interior offered comfort and convenience, with dedicated rear-seat air vents and a spacious cabin.

The 2024 Toyota Prius featured a Toyota Audio Multimedia infotainment system with an 8-inch or 12.3-inch touchscreen, offering Bluetooth connectivity, wireless Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. It included five connected services plans with varying trial lengths, such as Wi-Fi Connect, Service Connect, and Safety Connect. Remote Connect offered features like remote start and find-my-car. Drive Connect provided cloud-based navigation and digital assistant services. The Limited trim offered an eight-speaker JBL sound system, though it was bass-heavy. A 360-degree camera system and semi-autonomous parking assistance were available with Limited trim.

The 2025 Toyota Camry came standard with an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen, supporting wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and managing two Bluetooth connections. A wireless charging pad and five USB ports were standard, with higher trims offering a 12.3-inch touchscreen and a fully digital driver information display. A 10-inch head-up display and a nine-speaker JBL audio system were available for XLE and XSE trims. Subscription services included 4G Wi-Fi connectivity and Drive Connect, which added voice recognition and real-time traffic updates. The voice recognition system had mixed results during testing.

Safety

The 2024 Toyota Prius came equipped with Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 (TSS 3.0), including adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, and more. Proactive Driving Assist added subtle steering and braking for maintaining safe distances. The adaptive cruise control and lane-centering assistance worked well, though the system occasionally braked too hard in heavy traffic. The Prius earned high safety ratings, with five stars from NHTSA and a Top Safety Pick+ from IIHS.

The 2025 Toyota Camry also featured TSS 3.0, with blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, and lane-tracing assist. The Premium Plus Package added front cross-traffic alert, lane-change assist, and traffic-jam assist. The lane-keeping assist system was firm yet deferential. While crash-test ratings were not yet available, the Camry was expected to perform well based on its technology and Toyota's reputation. The 2024 Camry had earned a Top Safety Pick award from IIHS and scored well in NHTSA tests.
