2024 Mercedes-Benz GLC Reviews Summary

We reviewed the GLC SUV when it was all-new for the 2023 model year–and available with only one powertrain. AMG variants have rejoined the GLC 300 for 2024, and the GLC Coupe, which was a carryover last year, now catches up with the redesigned GLC SUV. For the purposes of this review, we’ve focused our attention on the Mercedes-AMG GLC 43, which we spent a week putting through its paces on our home turf.

Verdict: We suspect the AMG-tuned GLC misses the mark on what most shoppers are looking for in a luxury crossover, but for the right driver, it may very well prove worth the wait. For everyone else, the GLC 300 has everything we feel we have a right to hope for from a sub-$50k Mercedes-Benz.

2025 Dodge Durango Reviews Summary

In production since 2011, the Durango exits stage left following the 2025 model year. For its final run down the Detroit assembly line, Dodge cuts the lineup in half, dropping the SXT, Citadel, and SRT 392 versions while retaining the GT, R/T, and SRT Hellcat. Dodge will sell the Durango in a series of special edition models, including an R/T 20th Anniversary Edition and three “Last Call” Hellcats: Silver Bullet, Hammerhead, and Brass Monkey.

Verdict: Though the Durango is now 15 years old, it has aged remarkably well and remains a likable if flawed midsize three-row SUV. However, time waits for no vehicle, and the Dodge Durango has reached the end of its road. For now.

Look and feel

2024 Mercedes-Benz GLC

8/10

2025 Dodge Durango

7/10

The 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLC underwent a generational redesign, maintaining a familiar aesthetic to avoid alienating its loyal fanbase. The exterior changes were subtle, with new taillights and repositioned door handles, while the headlights became narrower and more aggressive. The rear design saw updates with a trim piece connecting the taillights and a less chrome-heavy look. The GLC Coupe retained its distinctive fastback roof, and the grille design differentiated AMG models from the GLC 300. Inside, the GLC's interior was luxurious, featuring two-tone leather upholstery and a wood-and-metal dash treatment. The cabin was filled with screens, buttons, and ambient lighting, offering a gadget-heavy experience typical of Mercedes.

The 2025 Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat Premium, especially with the Silver Bullet special edition package, exuded a more aggressive visual attitude. The satin black hood, unique wheels, and dark badges enhanced its presence. Inside, the Durango maintained a subdued yet premium feel with dark red Nappa leather seats and a suede headliner. The cabin was well-constructed, though some plastic surfaces detracted from the overall luxury. The Durango's interior was spacious and comfortable, with thoughtful features like heated and ventilated seats, a large center console, and ample storage options. The third-row seating was surprisingly accommodating for adults, and the cargo space was generous, making it a practical choice for families.

Performance

2024 Mercedes-Benz GLC

7/10

2025 Dodge Durango

8/10

The 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLC 43 was powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine from AMG, producing an impressive 416 horsepower, surpassing the previous generation's 385 hp V6. This engine was complemented by a 48-volt mild-hybrid system, enhancing its performance. The base GLC 300, with 255 hp, offered a more modest power output but was still competitive in its class. The GLC 43 featured a nine-speed automatic transmission with a multi-clutch system, providing faster shifts and better torque handling. However, the performance suspension and rougher shifts made it less suitable for daily commuting. Enthusiasts appreciated the sporty nature and standard four-wheel steering, which enhanced cornering capabilities.

The 2025 Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat boasted a formidable 710-hp supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine, delivering 645 lb-ft of torque. This powerhouse enabled the SUV to accelerate to 60 mph in just 3.5 seconds, with a top speed of 180 mph and a towing capacity of 8,700 pounds. Despite its impressive performance, the Durango's fuel economy was a downside, with an EPA rating of 12/17/13 mpg. The SUV featured a full-time AWD system, electronic limited-slip rear differential, and a high-performance exhaust system. The adaptive damping suspension, performance steering, and Brembo brakes contributed to its track-ready feel, making it a standout in its class.

Form and function

2024 Mercedes-Benz GLC

7/10

2025 Dodge Durango

9/10

The 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLC's cabin was designed with a driver-focused layout, featuring a center touchscreen and controls angled toward the driver. The interior was filled with buttons, especially in AMG models, and offered standard heated and memory front seats. The GLC SUV provided 21.9 cubic feet of cargo space, expandable to 59.3 cubic feet with the rear seats folded. The GLC Coupe, with its tighter interior, offered 17.6 cubic feet of cargo volume, expanding to 52.6 cubic feet. The power-folding rear seats and flat-folding capability added convenience, though the cargo space was not class-leading.

The 2025 Dodge Durango excelled in form and function, offering a roomy and comfortable interior with thoughtful features. The SRT Hellcat Premium model had heated and ventilated front seats with Nappa leather, though they lacked secure support during spirited driving. The second-row captain's chairs provided good leg support and legroom, while the third-row seat accommodated adults comfortably. The Durango's cargo space was generous, with 17.2 cubic feet behind the third row, expanding to 43.3 cubic feet with the third row folded, and a maximum of 85.1 cubic feet. The power liftgate and ample storage options added to its practicality.

Technology

2025 Dodge Durango

The 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLC featured a prominent 11.9-inch touchscreen running the third-generation MBUX infotainment system. The system included a responsive voice command feature, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and optional upgrades like a 15-speaker Burmester sound system and augmented reality navigation. The GLC's tech offerings were comprehensive, with options for additional USB ports and advanced navigation features.

The 2025 Dodge Durango came equipped with the Uconnect 5 infotainment system, featuring a 10.1-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a native navigation system. The system supported dual-phone Bluetooth pairing, Alexa compatibility, and wireless smartphone charging. The SRT Hellcat included SRT Performance Pages for tracking performance metrics. The Harman Kardon audio system provided excellent sound quality, and the voice recognition system, while effective, required specific commands.

Safety

2024 Mercedes-Benz GLC

7/10

2025 Dodge Durango

4/10

The 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLC earned a Top Safety Pick+ award from the IIHS, with an "Acceptable" rating for the standard front crash-prevention system. Standard safety features included active brake assist, attention assist, blind-spot monitoring, and Pre-Safe, which prepared the vehicle for an imminent crash. Optional advanced driver-assistance systems were available through the Driver Assistance Package.

The 2025 Dodge Durango's safety features were less impressive, with standard offerings like forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and blind-spot monitoring. Optional upgrades included adaptive cruise control and lane-keep assist. The Durango received a four-star overall rating from the NHTSA and a concerning performance in the IIHS small overlap frontal-impact test.
