2024 MINI Countryman Reviews SummaryThe new Countryman arrives next year and we know at least one version of the 2025 Countryman will be electric, if not all of them. In the meantime, the 2024 Mini Countryman enters its eighth year in second-generation spec. The base Cooper model comes only in Classic trim this year, the Signature trim package adds a standard navigation system, and the Cooper SE plug-in hybrid is more appealing thanks to a lower-priced base version and more standard features in the top-of-the-line Iconic trim package.
2025 Nissan Pathfinder Reviews SummaryDespite a rich history and lengthy pedigree, the Nissan Pathfinder has struggled to compete against the most popular three-row crossover SUVs. That’s perplexing, as the Pathfinder offers excellent cargo capacity, comfortable seating, and a modern design, and it does it all at a competitive price. Slight updates for the 2025 model year are unlikely to vault the Pathfinder ahead of competitors like the Honda Pilot or Kia Telluride, but they nonetheless help make this attractive SUV even more appealing.. Verdict: The 2025 Nissan Pathfinder is missing the single killer app to put it clear ahead of competitors. Instead, it offers a beautifully well-rounded package, with no single area likely to let shoppers down, even if there’s no single area likely to wow them, either. An ideal workhorse for both adventurous and budget-friendly families, the 2025 Nissan Pathfinder delivers a solid, reliable experience across all aspects of ownership.

The 2024 MINI Countryman exuded a playful charm, staying true to its British roots with classic Mini styling cues, including Union Jack tail lights. Its design featured an erect wraparound windshield and a floating roof reminiscent of a bimini top. Buyers had the option to customize their Countryman with various paint treatments and wheel designs, although dark tinted rear privacy glass was an optional feature rather than standard. The Countryman lineup offered different models, each with distinct drivetrains, from the underpowered Cooper to the plug-in hybrid Cooper SE, and the more robust Cooper S and John Cooper Works versions. Our test vehicle, a Cooper S with the Iconic trim package, boasted premium leather, power-adjustable front seats, and a semi-autonomous parking system, among other features. Despite its digital instrumentation and 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, the Countryman retained its classic Mini character, making it a unique experience in a sea of small SUVs.
The 2025 Nissan Pathfinder, tested amidst a snowstorm near Mount Rainier National Park, showcased its rugged capabilities in Rock Creek trim. Equipped with 3-Peak Mud-and-Snow-rated tires, standard all-wheel drive, and seven selectable driving modes, including a dedicated snow mode, the Pathfinder handled the challenging conditions with ease. Redesigned for the 2022 model year, the Pathfinder featured an assertive front end and protective cladding, with the Rock Creek trim adding a mesh-patterned V-Motion grille and stacked LED lighting elements. A metal roof rack and exposed trailer hitch emphasized its adventurous spirit. Inside, the Rock Creek offered leatherette-and-cloth upholstery with bright orange "Rock Creek" logos, while higher trims provided more luxurious seating options. Despite its unibody construction, the Pathfinder delivered a comfortable ride, though it lacked the off-road prowess of some competitors.

The 2024 MINI Countryman offered a range of performance options, with the John Cooper Works model standing out for its turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, producing 301 horsepower and 331 pound-feet of torque. This powerhouse accelerated to 60 mph in just 4.9 seconds. The Cooper S, with its 189 hp turbocharged engine, provided a zippy and athletic feel, reaching 60 mph in 7.2 seconds. While the Countryman excelled in daily driving scenarios, it wasn't designed for off-road adventures. Our test vehicle achieved an EPA fuel economy rating of 28 mpg in combined driving, though real-world testing yielded 25.4 mpg.
The 2025 Nissan Pathfinder featured a single engine option: a naturally aspirated 3.5-liter V6. The Rock Creek trim received a power boost to 295 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque, though its all-terrain tires affected acceleration. A nine-speed automatic transmission replaced the previous CVT, offering smooth shifts. The Pathfinder's towing capacity reached 6,000 pounds with the right equipment, surpassing some competitors. While the Rock Creek trim excelled in light off-roading, its soft suspension resulted in a floaty ride on twisty roads. Fuel economy for the Rock Creek was 20 mpg city, 23 highway, and 21 combined, with other 4WD trims achieving slightly better efficiency.
The 2024 MINI Countryman accommodated four adults comfortably, with enough luggage space for a week-long road trip. The Iconic trim added dual-zone climate control, premium leather upholstery, and power-adjustable heated front seats. While the Countryman offered excellent outward visibility and easy parking, its cargo capacity was limited, with 17.6 cubic feet behind the rear seats and 47.6 cubic feet with the seats folded. Interior storage was reasonable, though the smartphone charging pad obstructed access to the tray beneath it.
The 2025 Nissan Pathfinder, though smaller on paper than some rivals, provided ample interior space. During a ski trip with four adults, it comfortably accommodated passengers and gear. Cargo space measured 16.6 cubic feet behind the third row, expanding to 45 cubic feet with the third row folded and 80.5 cubic feet with both rows down. The Pathfinder featured three-zone climate control and comfortable seating, with the Rock Creek trim offering captain's chairs and a removable center console. The EZ Flex Seating System allowed easy access to the third row without removing car seats.
The 2024 MINI Countryman wasn't a tech powerhouse but offered useful features. It included a small digital instrumentation display, a head-up display, and an 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with multiple interaction methods. The system, based on BMW's iDrive, lacked Android Auto but supported Apple CarPlay. The Iconic trim added a 12-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, enhancing the audio experience.
The 2025 Nissan Pathfinder lagged behind some competitors in terms of technology. Its infotainment system, while functional, appeared dated compared to newer models. The Pathfinder offered an 8-inch screen on lower trims and a 9-inch screen on higher trims, with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support. A 13-speaker Bose system was available on higher trims. Voice recognition, Bluetooth, and SiriusXM were standard, but navigation was limited to the SL and Platinum trims. The Platinum trim also featured a 12.3-inch driver-information display and a head-up display.
The 2024 MINI Countryman offered a limited array of advanced driving assistance systems (ADAS). Standard features included forward-collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, and automatic high-beam headlights. Adaptive cruise control was optional on higher trims. The Countryman received a Good rating in IIHS crashworthiness evaluations.
The 2025 Nissan Pathfinder excelled in safety, earning a Top Safety Pick+ award from the IIHS and a five-star overall rating from the NHTSA. It came equipped with a comprehensive suite of ADAS, including blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, automatic emergency braking, and rear automatic braking. Adaptive cruise control and ProPilot Assist were standard on most trims, with traffic sign recognition available on higher trims.
