2024 MINI Countryman Reviews SummaryThe new Countryman arrives next year and we know at least one version of the 2025 Countryman will be electric, if not all of them. In the meantime, the 2024 Mini Countryman enters its eighth year in second-generation spec. The base Cooper model comes only in Classic trim this year, the Signature trim package adds a standard navigation system, and the Cooper SE plug-in hybrid is more appealing thanks to a lower-priced base version and more standard features in the top-of-the-line Iconic trim package.
2025 Jeep Wrangler Reviews SummaryYou know what you’re getting with the Jeep Wrangler: Iconic looks and legendary off-road ability but an overall package somewhat out of step with the times. Even so, it’s a model that’s continually evolving and Jeep does its best to appeal to the broadest cross-section of customers possible. You can get a Wrangler with two-door or four-door body styles, and your choice between three engines and seven trim levels. This year, all 2025 Wrangler models have standard power windows and door locks, the V6/automatic drivetrain returns to the lineup, while new colors include ’41 (drab green), Mojito (bright green), and Joose (orange). Verdict: Rough, raw, and unrefined, the 2025 Wrangler is made for adventure and getting dirty. The top comes off. The doors come off. There are drain holes in the floor so that you can hose it out. This Jeep can be unpleasant to drive daily, yet we love it just the same.

The 2024 MINI Countryman exuded a playful charm, staying true to its British roots with classic styling cues like the Union Jack tail lights. Its design featured a wraparound windshield and a floating roof reminiscent of a bimini top. Buyers had the option to personalize their Countryman with various paint treatments and wheel designs, although dark tinted rear privacy glass was surprisingly optional. The lineup included several models, each with distinct drivetrains, from the underpowered Cooper to the plug-in hybrid Cooper SE, and the more robust Cooper S and John Cooper Works. Our test vehicle, a Cooper S with the Iconic trim, boasted premium features like leather upholstery, a head-up display, and a semi-autonomous parking system, all for an MSRP of $41,945.
In contrast, the 2025 Jeep Wrangler Sport S, with its black-on-black color scheme, was less about aesthetics and more about rugged functionality. Despite its heat-absorbing exterior, the Wrangler's appeal lay in its ability to transform into an open-air vehicle, perfect for the Hawaiian climate. The Wrangler lineup offered a range of trims, from the basic Sport to the powerful Rubicon 392. Our rental Sport S came with a few options, including a turbocharged four-cylinder engine and a hardtop, bringing its MSRP to $49,175. The interior was utilitarian, with a focus on durability over luxury, and the Wrangler's design paid homage to its military roots, emphasizing its capability to tackle diverse terrains.

The 2024 MINI Countryman offered a range of powertrains, with the John Cooper Works model standing out for its performance. It featured a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine producing 301 horsepower and 331 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed sport automatic transmission. This setup allowed the JCW to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.9 seconds. The Cooper S, while less powerful, still provided a spirited drive with its 189 hp engine, achieving 60 mph in 7.2 seconds. The Countryman excelled in daily driving scenarios, offering a zippy and athletic feel, though it wasn't designed for off-road adventures. Fuel economy was decent, with our test vehicle averaging 25.4 mpg.
The 2025 Jeep Wrangler offered a choice between a 3.6-liter V6 engine and a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. The latter, which powered our rental, delivered 270 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. While the turbocharged engine was more fuel-efficient, achieving 21 mpg in combined driving, our real-world testing in Hawaii resulted in an average of 19.2 mpg. The Wrangler's off-road capabilities were its standout feature, with standard four-wheel drive, high ground clearance, and excellent approach and departure angles. However, its on-road performance was less refined, with a rough ride and disconnected steering feel.
Inside the 2024 MINI Countryman, there was ample space for four adults and their luggage, making it suitable for road trips. The Iconic trim added luxury touches like dual-zone climate control and heated front seats. While the Countryman could technically seat five, four passengers were more comfortable. Visibility was excellent, and the compact dimensions made parking easy. However, cargo space was limited, with 17.6 cubic feet behind the rear seats and 47.6 cubic feet with the seats folded.
The 2025 Jeep Wrangler's high ground clearance and narrow door openings made entry and exit challenging. Once inside, the front seats were comfortable, and the cloth upholstery was climate-friendly. The Wrangler could seat five, but rear-seat legroom was limited. Storage space was minimal, with small bins and cupholders for personal items. Cargo access was cumbersome due to the tailgate and rear window design, but the Wrangler offered 31.7 cubic feet of cargo space, expandable to 72.4 cubic feet with the rear seats folded.
The 2024 MINI Countryman featured a user-friendly infotainment system with an 8.8-inch touchscreen, utilizing BMW's iDrive technology. It offered multiple interaction methods, including a touchscreen, steering wheel controls, and voice recognition. However, it lacked Android Auto, providing only Apple CarPlay. The Iconic trim included a 12-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, enhancing the audio experience.
The 2025 Jeep Wrangler's Uconnect 5 infotainment system was a highlight, featuring a 12.3-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The system was easy to use, even with the roof panels removed. The Convenience Group added a 7-inch digital display and passive entry, while the Active Safety Group offered rear parking sensors. The Wrangler's technology package was robust, with options for navigation and connected services.
The 2024 MINI Countryman offered basic safety features, including forward-collision warning, pedestrian detection, and automatic emergency braking. However, it lacked advanced systems like blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) rated the Countryman as Good in crashworthiness evaluations.
The 2025 Jeep Wrangler added side curtain airbags as standard, a significant safety improvement. Optional safety features included blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, but forward collision warning was limited to higher trims. The Wrangler received a four-star frontal-impact rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and a Good rating for side-impact protection from the IIHS, though it had a Marginal rating in the small overlap frontal-impact test.
