2024 Lincoln Nautilus Reviews Summary

All-wheel drive is now standard and although the Nautilus is no longer offered with a turbocharged V6, Lincoln gives drivers the option of a hybrid powerplant with plenty of driving range. Also new this year is some seriously cool tech including a full-width display and Blue Cruise hands-free driving.

Verdict: Luxurious and laden with value, the new Lincoln Nautilus looks like a compelling option alongside pricier German alternatives. In particular, the available hybrid powertrain and impressive technology makes this luxury two-row crossover a standout in its class.

2024 Toyota Sequoia Reviews Summary

The Toyota Sequoia gained a standard hybrid powertrain when it entered its third generation, just last year. While the tech updates were widely celebrated and the facelift considered unobjectionable even by its harshest critics, the move to hybrid power proved to be something of a mixed bag. Increased towing and hauling power bolstered the obvious advantage of improved fuel economy, but impact was somewhat dampened by the reduction in cargo and third-row space to accommodate the new battery.

Verdict: The Sequoia may not be the most capable full-size SUV in the segment, and it’s certainly not the most spacious. It is, however, the only hybrid in its class, and it offers a blend of seating capacity, towing power, and fuel efficiency you won’t find elsewhere-at least, not if you don’t want to go diesel.

2024 Lincoln Nautilus

9/10

2024 Toyota Sequoia

7/10

The 2024 Lincoln Nautilus presented a sophisticated and streamlined exterior, available in Premiere, Reserve, or Black Label trims. Its design featured a new grille reminiscent of Mercedes-Benz, with LED lighting extending through the grille to illuminate the Lincoln star logo. The rear mirrored this horizontal aesthetic with a full-width animated LED light bar and dual exhaust ports. The interior was a standout, boasting a full-width screen as its crown jewel, complemented by high-quality materials like open-pore wood and fine leather. The Jet Appearance Package offered additional customization with two-tone paint and black exterior trim.

In contrast, the 2024 Toyota Sequoia shared its platform and several design cues with the Tundra pickup, including hexagonal grilles and muscular stances. The exterior appearance varied significantly with color choices, with the Capstone model featuring chrome brightwork. The interior closely resembled the Tundra's, with a blocky, geometric dash layout and physical controls for climate and audio. The Capstone trim offered semi-aniline leather upholstery, while other trims provided a range of seating materials. The Sequoia's interior was functional, with power-adjustable front seats and a power-tilt and -slide moonroof standard across the lineup.

The 2024 Lincoln Nautilus came standard with a turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 250 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The hybrid option, available for an additional $1,500, increased output to 310 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque, with an EPA-estimated 30 mpg combined. The hybrid also offered a range of over 600 miles. All Nautilus models featured all-wheel drive and five drive modes, with the adaptive suspension enhancing the driving experience. The hybrid's CVT was smooth and unobtrusive, though the Nautilus was not considered a driver's car.

The 2024 Toyota Sequoia was exclusively offered with the iForce MAX hybrid powertrain, combining a twin-turbo V6 engine with an electric motor for a total of 437 horsepower and 583 lb-ft of torque. This marked a significant improvement over its predecessor, with a combined fuel economy of 20 mpg. The Sequoia's 10-speed automatic transmission operated smoothly, and the TRD Pro trim offered off-road capabilities with 4WD and specialized features. The Sequoia's towing capacity increased to 9,520 pounds, with various towing-related upgrades available.

Form and function

2024 Toyota Sequoia

5/10

The 2024 Lincoln Nautilus offered power-adjustable, heated, and cooled front seats across all trims, with the Black Label model featuring 24-way Perfect Position seats with massage and extended heating functions. Rear passengers enjoyed 43 inches of legroom, and the Rejuvenate feature combined massage, lighting, and screen images for relaxation. Cargo space measured 36 cubic feet behind the second row and 71 cubic feet with seats folded, though seating was limited to five.

The 2024 Toyota Sequoia provided up to 86.9 cubic feet of cargo space with both rear rows folded. The second-row seats were easy to move for third-row access, though the third-row seats did not create a flat load floor due to the hybrid battery. Headroom was reduced, and legroom varied across rows. Second-row captain's chairs were available on higher trims, though they lacked bolstering. The Sequoia's interior was practical, with automatic power-deploying running boards on select trims.

Technology

The 2024 Lincoln Nautilus featured a 48-inch curved display with customizable sections for various information, alongside an 11.1-inch touchscreen for infotainment with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The system included Google Maps, Alexa Built-in, and over-the-air updates. However, the touch-sensitive steering wheel controls and menu-based vent adjustments were considered distracting.

The 2024 Toyota Sequoia offered wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, with an 8-inch touchscreen on the SR5 trim and a 14-inch screen on others. The Toyota Audio Multimedia system prioritized functionality over flashiness. A 12.3-inch driver-information display and Panoramic View monitor were standard, with a 10-inch head-up display available on higher trims. The JBL Premium Audio system was standard on select trims.

The 2024 Toyota Sequoia featured the Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 suite, including a pre-collision system and adaptive cruise control. Trailer Merge Warning was standard, and the Tow Technology Package added advanced towing aids. The Sequoia had not been rated by safety organizations, but the similar Tundra received high marks.
