2024 Honda Accord Hybrid Reviews Summary

There aren’t any obvious downsides to buying a new 2024 Accord Hybrid unless you’re familiar with the previous-generation Accord equipped with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. It was legitimately fast, while today’s Accord Hybrid is merely quick enough. The upside is the hybrid model effortlessly returns fuel economy in the 40s, a worthy trade-off. Better yet, all 2024 Honda Accords except for the base LX and step-up EX get the hybrid powertrain as standard equipment.

Verdict: In addition to its impressive fuel economy, the 2024 Accord Hybrid is delightful to drive, thoughtfully detailed, and exceptionally practical, thanks to a roomy interior and a huge trunk. It is also a safe car, from its standard safety features to its crash-test ratings. Looking for a terrific family sedan? You’ve found it.

2025 Honda Civic Reviews Summary

As it previously did for the Accord and the CR-V, Honda has now divided the Civic lineup by powertrain. This review focuses on the gas-only Civic, offered in LX and Sport trims or as the Civic Si, which we flew to Nashville to test drive. The Civic Hybrid (offered in Sport or Sport Touring trims) and the Honda Civic Type R are covered as separate models.

Verdict: We absolutely recommend the 2025 Honda Civic Si for driving enthusiasts. For those new to the road and anyone looking for an affordable sedan or hatchback, the base Civic is a great choice.

2024 Honda Accord Hybrid

7/10

2025 Honda Civic

7/10

The 2024 Honda Accord Hybrid was available in four trim levels: Sport, EX-L, Sport-L, and Touring, with prices ranging from $32,895 to $38,890, excluding a $1,095 destination charge. Each trim offered distinct features, with the Sport being a popular value choice, the EX-L excelling in fuel efficiency, the Sport-L adding leather and black wheels, and the Touring providing luxury and exclusive technology. The redesign in 2023 gave the Accord a clean, technical look, enhanced by machined-finish 19-inch wheels on the Sport and Touring trims, which reduced the visual mass of its sides. The Touring model we tested came in Canyon River Blue metallic paint, paired with a black leather interior, and had an MSRP of $39,985, including the destination charge. The interior featured a gray headliner, contrast stitching, metallic finishes, and a mesh trim strip, though the shiny plastic in the lower cabin was a minor drawback.

The 2025 Honda Civic received subtle exterior updates, including a widened lower grille and slimmer air inlets, giving it a more aggressive look. The Civic Si featured a new honeycomb grille texture, LED headlights, and smoked tail lights. New colors like Solar Silver Metallic and Urban Gray Pearl were introduced, with body style-specific options for the sedan and hatchback. The Civic Si had a limited color palette, with Rallye Red being a standout choice. The Si also got a new 18-inch matte black wheel design, inspired by the Acura logo. Inside, the Si had red accents on the honeycomb dash and red seats, though the styling didn't extend to the back row, creating a distinct cabin area. The lack of a coupe option made the rear seats feel like an afterthought.

The 2024 Honda Accord Hybrid featured Honda's latest two-motor hybrid powertrain, combining a 2.0-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine with two electric motors. This setup provided a total output of 204 horsepower and 247 lb-ft of torque, with the latter available from zero to 2,000 rpm. The hybrid system operated without a conventional automatic transmission, yet felt normal to drive, with simulated gear changes for a traditional sound. The Accord Hybrid was front-wheel drive only, with no all-wheel drive option. It weighed around 3,500 pounds, depending on the trim level, and offered zippy city driving and effortless freeway cruising. The EX-L trim achieved 48 mpg in combined driving, while the Sport, Sport-L, and Touring trims, with larger wheels, earned 44 mpg. During testing, the Touring returned 43.1 mpg. The Accord Touring impressed with its blend of ride and handling, making it an excellent daily driver.

The 2025 Honda Civic lineup included a base model with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine producing 150 horsepower and 133 lb-ft of torque. All Civics were front-wheel drive, with the base LX and gas-only Sport using a CVT, while the Civic Si featured a six-speed manual transmission. The Civic Si's turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine delivered 200 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 192 lb-ft of torque between 1,800 and 5,000 rpm. The Si's shifter had short throws and agreeable action, with a light clutch for easy management. The ride was stiffer than the base Civic but comfortable, allowing for responsive handling. The Si offered three dynamic drive modes, with Sport mode increasing throttle sensitivity. A new feature was the F1-inspired shift indicator on the digital display. The Civic Si was user-friendly for new manual drivers, though it lacked a traditional manual e-brake and gear indication on the dash.

Form and function

The 2024 Honda Accord Hybrid prioritized comfort, though taller drivers might find the seat lacking in rearward adjustment. All Accord Hybrids had a 10-way power-adjustable driver's seat, with leather-upholstered versions offering heated front seats. The Touring trim added ventilated front seats and heated rear seats. The front seats were comfortable, with ample leg support, while rear passengers enjoyed generous legroom and headroom. The Touring's air conditioning vents and USB ports enhanced rear passenger comfort. Interior storage was excellent, though the driver's seatback lacked a storage pocket. The trunk offered 16.7 cubic feet of cargo space, surpassing rivals in its class.

The 2025 Honda Civic Sedan and Hatchback provided 39.3 inches of headroom and 42.3 inches of legroom in the front. The Civic Si, with a power moonroof, had slightly reduced front-seat headroom. Rear passengers had 37.1 inches of headroom and 37.4 inches of legroom. The Si's trunk offered 14.1 cubic feet of cargo volume, slightly less than other Civic Sedans. The Civic Hatchback's cargo space reached 24.5 cubic feet. Heated front seats were standard on the Civic Hybrid Sport and Si, with leather seats exclusive to the Hybrid Sport Touring. The Si's front cabin was sportily decorated, though the rear felt more economical.

The 2024 Honda Accord Hybrid came with a 10.2-inch digital instrumentation display and a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Standard features included wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Alexa Built-in, and HondaLink services with a Wi-Fi hotspot. The Touring trim added a 12-speaker Bose sound system, wireless smartphone charger, and a 6-inch head-up display. It was the only Accord with Google Built-in, offering Google Maps, Assistant, and Play Store with a three-year subscription. However, Google Assistant had issues during testing, leading to a switch to Apple CarPlay for a seamless experience. The digital instrumentation was practical, showing essential information like lights and turn signals.

The 2025 Honda Civic Si was equipped with a 9-inch touchscreen, Google Built-In, and a 12-speaker Bose sound system, matching the top Hybrid trim. It offered wireless smartphone projection and a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster with F1-inspired shift lights. The Civic Si's infotainment system included Google Maps navigation, displayed in the driver-information display. Lower trims had a 7-inch touchscreen and wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, with two front USB-C ports now standard.

Safety

2025 Honda Civic

The 2024 Honda Accord Hybrid earned a Top Safety Pick+ rating from the IIHS, thanks to its Honda Sensing suite of driver-assistance features. These included automatic high-beam headlights, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and adaptive cruise control with traffic-jam assist. The EX-L trim added parking sensors, while the Touring gained low-speed automatic braking. During testing, the bright sun affected some safety features, and the adaptive cruise control left gaps for other drivers to cut in. The lane-centering system required small steering corrections to avoid warnings.

The 2025 Honda Civic continued to offer Honda Sensing as standard, with enhanced features for the new model year. The collision-mitigation braking system improved detection of bicycles and motorcycles, while adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assist were updated for smoother performance. The Civic Hatchback and Sedan earned Top Safety Pick+ awards from the IIHS and five-star overall ratings from the NHTSA. The new Civic's increased frame rigidity contributed to its improved safety ratings.
