2024 Genesis GV80 Reviews Summary

Genesis introduced the GV80 in 2021, and the crossover SUV is getting a minor refresh in 2025. Still, the 2024 GV80 remains a good choice unless you want to wait for the fancier styling, more high-tech interior, or new supercharged GV80 Coupe coming next year. Otherwise, today’s GV80 is pretty much the same as tomorrow’s GV80, and in some respects, it is the more elegant and traditional choice.

Verdict: Based on our evaluation of the 2024 Genesis GV80, seat comfort is not what it should be. Also, to use Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, you need a USB cable. This Genesis is thirsty, too. But otherwise, we have few complaints about this stylish, safe, and mostly rewarding midsize luxury SUV.

2025 Dodge Durango Reviews Summary

In production since 2011, the Durango exits stage left following the 2025 model year. For its final run down the Detroit assembly line, Dodge cuts the lineup in half, dropping the SXT, Citadel, and SRT 392 versions while retaining the GT, R/T, and SRT Hellcat. Dodge will sell the Durango in a series of special edition models, including an R/T 20th Anniversary Edition and three “Last Call” Hellcats: Silver Bullet, Hammerhead, and Brass Monkey.

Verdict: Though the Durango is now 15 years old, it has aged remarkably well and remains a likable if flawed midsize three-row SUV. However, time waits for no vehicle, and the Dodge Durango has reached the end of its road. For now.

2024 Genesis GV80

9/10

2025 Dodge Durango

7/10

The 2024 Genesis GV80 offered a choice between the 2.5T turbocharged four-cylinder and the 3.5T twin-turbocharged V6 models, with trim levels ranging from Standard to Prestige Signature. Prices varied from $57,700 to $81,750, plus a $1,350 destination charge. Our test vehicle, a GV80 3.5T in the top-tier Prestige Signature trim, featured an optional Matterhorn White Matte paint, bringing the MSRP to $84,600. The Prestige Signature trim came with exclusive exterior colors and a stylish 22-inch wheel design, though the dark paint obscured the wheel details. Inside, the Ultramarine Blue over Dune interior exuded luxury with diamond-stitched Nappa leather, a suede headliner, and a wide touchscreen display. Despite its opulence, the Prestige Signature trim was not deemed more attractive than the regular Prestige model.

The 2025 Dodge Durango, on the other hand, ranged from about $43,000 for a base GT with a V6 engine to nearly $100,000 for the SRT Hellcat with a supercharged V8 engine. Our review focused on the Durango SRT Hellcat Premium with the Silver Bullet special edition package, which included Triple Nickel paint and brought the MSRP to $115,315. The Silver Bullet edition added visual flair with a satin black hood and dark badges. Inside, the SRT Hellcat featured dark red premium Nappa leather seats and a suede headliner, though some plastic surfaces detracted from the premium feel. The Durango's interior was solidly constructed, but the performance seats lacked the secure hold needed for spirited driving.

The 2024 Genesis GV80 2.5T featured a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine producing 300 horsepower and 311 pound-feet of torque, outperforming some rivals' larger V6 engines. Our 3.5T test vehicle boasted a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 engine with 375 hp and 391 lb-ft of torque, offering satisfying performance but lower fuel efficiency, with an observed 17.2 mpg compared to the EPA's 20 mpg estimate. Both engines paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and standard all-wheel drive, with five driving modes available. The GV80 3.5T included upgraded brakes and an adaptive damping suspension, providing a rewarding driving experience with swift acceleration and commendable grip on mountain roads.

The 2025 Dodge Durango offered a simplified lineup with the GT's 295-hp 3.6-liter V6, the R/T's 360-hp 5.7-liter V8, and the SRT Hellcat's 710-hp supercharged 6.2-liter V8. The SRT Hellcat's engine delivered 645 pound-feet of torque, accelerating to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds and towing up to 8,700 pounds. However, its fuel economy was poor, with an EPA rating of 12/17/13 mpg and an observed 12.2 mpg. The Durango SRT Hellcat featured a full-time AWD system, adaptive damping suspension, and Brembo brakes, offering a firm yet comfortable ride with outstanding grip and braking performance.

Form and function

2025 Dodge Durango

9/10

In 2024, the Genesis GV80 3.5T Advanced was the only model with a third-row seat, while the Prestige Signature seated four with second-row captain's chairs. The GV80's interior featured premium materials and amenities like a panoramic roof and triple-zone climate control. However, the seats were uncomfortable for long trips, and second-row legroom was limited. Cargo space measured 34.9 cubic feet behind the second row, expanding to 84 cubic feet with the seats folded.

The 2025 Dodge Durango excelled in form and function, offering roomy and comfortable seating for six. The SRT Hellcat Premium featured heated and ventilated Nappa leather seats, though they lacked secure support during spirited driving. The second-row captain's chairs provided good leg support, and the third row accommodated adults comfortably. Cargo space measured 17.2 cubic feet behind the third row, expanding to 85.1 cubic feet with the seats folded.

The 2024 Genesis GV80 featured a 14.5-inch touchscreen infotainment display, though its placement encouraged use of the center console control dial. Standard features included navigation, SiriusXM, and wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Prestige Signature added wireless charging in the second row. The GV80 also offered a digital key system and a Lexicon premium sound system, with a head-up display showing blind-spot warnings.

The 2025 Dodge Durango came with a Uconnect 5 infotainment system, featuring a 10.1-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a native navigation system. The SRT Hellcat included an Alpine premium sound system, with an optional 19-speaker Harman Kardon audio system. The Durango also offered SRT Performance Pages for tracking performance metrics, adding a unique touch to the family-friendly SUV.

Safety

2025 Dodge Durango

The 2024 Genesis GV80 came equipped with numerous advanced driving-assistance systems, including a Blind-Spot View Monitor, Remote Smart Parking Assist, and Highway Driving Assist. The GV80 earned a Top Safety Pick+ rating from the IIHS and a five-star overall rating from the NHTSA, though it received four stars in the frontal-impact test.

The 2025 Dodge Durango's safety features were less impressive, with standard forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and blind-spot monitoring. The Durango earned a four-star overall rating from the NHTSA, with a concerning three-star rollover resistance rating for AWD models. The IIHS's small overlap frontal-impact test results were also a cause for concern.
