2024 Genesis GV70 Reviews Summary

Verdict: The GV70 offers style, impressive tech, and a well-executed electric variant. Launched as a 2022 model and thus still very fresh, the Genesis GV70 is the Korean luxury brand’s answer to the BMW X3, Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class, Lexus NX, Volvo XC60, and other small luxury crossover SUVs. The GV70 checks most of the boxes needed to compete in this segment while offering something the competition doesn’t: an all-electric powertrain option.

2025 Nissan Armada Reviews Summary

The everyman’s version of the Infiniti QX80, Nissan’s full-size SUV gets an expanded range for 2025. It’s still offered in familiar SV, SL, and Platinum trims, but Platinum Reserve has joined the roster and so, for the first time ever, has PRO-4X. We tested both new trims on a first drive program hosted by the automaker in Franklin, Tennessee.

Verdict: Nissan has undeniably improved the Armada with this new generation, and the PRO-4X and the Platinum Reserve trim levels both bring something new to the table. The PRO-4X adds just enough adventure-ready content to make it worth a look to shoppers who may not have considered it before, while the Platinum Reserve challenges the value of stepping up to an Infiniti.

2024 Genesis GV70

9/10

2025 Nissan Armada

9/10

The 2024 Genesis GV70 was a standout in the Genesis lineup, offering a sleek design that balanced SUV presence with luxury-car style. Its split headlights and large shield-like grille were signature Genesis features, while the hatchback-like rear window profile and distinctive wheel designs added unique touches. The GV70 managed to outshine competitors like the Audi Q5 and BMW X3 with its finesse and luxury brand appeal. The Electrified GV70 maintained the same stylish design as its gasoline counterpart, with a shiny grille housing the charge port for convenience at charging stations. Inside, the GV70 boasted a distinctive interior with quilted Nappa leather upholstery, a panoramic sunroof, and unique design elements like an elliptical pod for climate controls and a rotary infotainment controller.

The 2025 Nissan Armada featured a high beltline and a tall grille, giving it a commanding presence similar to its luxury counterpart, the Infiniti QX80. The PRO-4X trim stood out with a skid plate and unique front fascia. The Armada's side profile was business-like, with a parallel beltline and distinctive D-pillar accents. The PRO-4X trim added rugged elements like black plastic cladding and all-terrain tires. The Armada's rear featured C-shaped LED taillights and a fashionable lightbar on higher trims. Inside, the Armada offered comfort with leather seats and customizable power adjustments. Cargo space increased across the board, and the third row folded flatter for easier loading. The Armada's interior was spacious, with improved legroom in the front and third rows.

Performance

2024 Genesis GV70

7/10

2025 Nissan Armada

7/10

The 2024 Genesis GV70 offered two gasoline engine options: a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 300 horsepower and a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 with 375 horsepower. Both engines were paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and standard all-wheel drive. The Electrified GV70 featured front and rear electric motors producing a combined 429 horsepower, with a Boost Mode providing 483 horsepower for short bursts. While the GV70 delivered strong straight-line acceleration, its chassis tuning didn't match the sportiness of rivals like the Acura RDX or BMW X3. The ride quality was comfortable but not exceptional, with the suspension tending to crash over bumps. The Electrified GV70 offered adjustable regenerative braking and a 236-mile range, making it a viable alternative to the gasoline model.

The 2025 Nissan Armada introduced a new 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 engine, producing 425 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque. It replaced the old seven-speed automatic transmission with a nine-speed automatic. The Armada offered rear-wheel drive or Nissan's Intelligent Four-Wheel Drive, with the PRO-4X trim being 4WD-only. The PRO-4X also featured an electronic locking rear differential, skid plates, and adaptive electronic air suspension. The Armada's off-road capabilities were enhanced with hill-descent control and multiple drive modes. It could tow up to 8,500 pounds and included trailer sway control and a trailer brake controller. On-road, the Armada's electric power steering provided a nice sense of engagement, while the adaptive air suspension added comfort.

Form and function

2024 Genesis GV70

8/10

2025 Nissan Armada

7/10

The 2024 Genesis GV70 offered competitive interior space, with slightly less headroom than some rivals but more front-seat legroom than the BMW X3 and Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class. Cargo space was 28.9 cubic feet with rear seats up and 56.9 cubic feet with them folded. The Electrified GV70 had minimal impact on interior space, with slight reductions in legroom and headroom. The stylish interior design limited small-item storage, but features like automatic side bolsters in Sport mode added to the luxury experience.

The 2025 Nissan Armada featured a push-button transmission, freeing up center console space for a wireless charging pad. The Armada's "Zero Gravity" seats were comfortable, with power adjustments increasing with each trim level. Heated front seats were standard on the SL trim, with cooling and second-row heating available on higher trims. The Armada offered a three-row seating configuration, with the third row folding flatter for more cargo space. Cargo volume increased across the board, with 20.4 cubic feet behind the third row, 56.3 behind the second, and 97.1 in total. The Armada's headroom and legroom improved, with significant gains in the third row.

The 2024 Genesis GV70 featured a 14.5-inch touchscreen with wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Higher trims offered a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster with a 3D effect and a 12-inch head-up display. The infotainment system was intuitive, with a rotary controller for easy navigation. Genesis included a fingerprint scanner for driver profiles and digital key functionality, allowing a phone to replace the key fob.

The 2025 Nissan Armada came with two large screens, 12.3-inch on lower trims and 14.3-inch on higher trims. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto were standard, along with six USB-C ports. Google Built-In was available, allowing Google Maps to be viewed on the driver-information display. A head-up display was optional, and a 12-speaker Klipsch Premium Audio System was standard on higher trims. The Armada's infotainment system was user-friendly, with a flat display unit visible from the driver's seat.

The 2024 Genesis GV70 received the IIHS's Top Safety Pick+ award for both gasoline and Electrified models. The NHTSA gave the gasoline GV70 a four-star frontal and rollover crash-test rating, with a five-star overall rating for the 2023 model. Standard safety features included lane-keep assist, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and Highway Driving Assist. A more advanced Highway Driving Assist 2 system was available, adding automated lane-change capability and blind-spot monitoring. Genesis also offered a safe exit assist function and a radar-based rear occupant alert system.

The 2025 Nissan Armada featured Nissan's ProPILOT Assist suite, with adaptive cruise control and lane-centering steering assistance. Higher trims offered ProPILOT Assist 1.1 and 2.1, with hands-free highway-driving assist technology. The Armada also came with Nissan Safety Shield 360, including traffic-sign recognition, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot warning, and lane-departure warning.
