2024 Ford Bronco Reviews Summary

Ford reintroduced the Bronco for the 2021 model year, and it’s been an exciting run ever since. Initial demand far outstripped supply, but Ford went ahead and added the more-capable Everglades and Raptor versions to the 2022 Bronco lineup. Heritage-inspired variants followed them up for 2023. Now, the 2024 Bronco adds a standard 12-inch Sync 4 infotainment system, a more rugged front bumper on the Bronco Badlands, and two new colors for the Bronco Raptor.

Verdict: In the summer of 2024, Ford is still clearing unsold 2023 Broncos from inventory, suggesting cooling demand for the rough and tough SUV. A federal investigation into V6 engine problems and poor fuel economy ratings aren’t helping to sell them. Nevertheless, there is plenty to love about the 2024 Ford Bronco.

2025 Nissan Armada Reviews Summary

The everyman’s version of the Infiniti QX80, Nissan’s full-size SUV gets an expanded range for 2025. It’s still offered in familiar SV, SL, and Platinum trims, but Platinum Reserve has joined the roster and so, for the first time ever, has PRO-4X. We tested both new trims on a first drive program hosted by the automaker in Franklin, Tennessee.

Verdict: Nissan has undeniably improved the Armada with this new generation, and the PRO-4X and the Platinum Reserve trim levels both bring something new to the table. The PRO-4X adds just enough adventure-ready content to make it worth a look to shoppers who may not have considered it before, while the Platinum Reserve challenges the value of stepping up to an Infiniti.

Look and feel

2024 Ford Bronco

8/10

2025 Nissan Armada

9/10

The 2024 Ford Bronco embraced a retro design that harkened back to the 1960s, particularly in its two-door variant, which was more successful in capturing the nostalgic aesthetic than the four-door model. The Sasquatch Package, a notable upgrade, enhanced the Bronco's rugged appearance with a suspension lift and 35-inch mud-terrain tires, giving it a wide stance and a purposeful look. Without this package, the Bronco's standard tires appeared awkwardly small within the fender flares. The Bronco offered nine trim levels, including the Raptor performance model, and a choice between two-door and four-door body styles, with prices ranging from $41,525 to $91,930, including destination charges. The interior featured an 8-inch digital display and a 12-inch touchscreen infotainment system, with a design that paid homage to the original 1960s Bronco. Despite its rugged charm, the Bronco's marine-grade upholstery was less breathable, potentially causing discomfort on hot days.

The 2025 Nissan Armada showcased a bold design with a high beltline and a prominent grille, setting it apart from its predecessor. The PRO-4X trim, designed for off-roading, featured a skid plate and unique front fascia for improved approach angles. The Armada's side profile appeared larger and more business-like, with distinctive design elements like the ARMADA-emblazoned accent strip. The interior of the Armada, particularly in the Platinum Reserve trim, exuded luxury with leather seats and a padded center console. The cabin offered various color combinations, with the Chestnut with Rye theme in the Platinum Reserve test car being particularly appealing. The Armada's three-row seating configuration provided ample space, with the third row folding flat for increased cargo capacity. Overall, the Armada's design and interior features contributed to a sense of luxury and comfort.

Performance

The 2024 Ford Bronco offered a range of engine options, starting with a standard turbocharged 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine producing 300 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque. A seven-speed manual transmission with a low first gear for rock crawling was available, along with a 10-speed automatic transmission. The optional turbocharged 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 engine delivered 330 horsepower and 415 pound-feet of torque, while the Raptor model featured an exclusive turbocharged 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 with 418 horsepower and 440 pound-feet of torque. The Bronco's towing capacity ranged from 3,500 to 4,500 pounds, depending on the engine. Off-road capabilities were enhanced by technologies like Trail Control, Trail One-Pedal Drive, and Trail Turn Assist. However, the Bronco's fuel efficiency was a concern, with an EPA rating of 18 mpg in the city and 17 mpg on the highway for the Big Bend Sasquatch model.

The 2025 Nissan Armada introduced a new powertrain with a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 engine, inspired by the high-performance GT-R, producing 425 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque. The old seven-speed automatic transmission was replaced with a nine-speed automatic, and the Armada offered rear-wheel drive or Nissan's Intelligent Four-Wheel Drive, except for the PRO-4X trim, which was 4WD-only. The PRO-4X featured dedicated 20-inch wheels, all-terrain tires, and an electronic locking rear differential. The Armada's adaptive electronic air suspension, available on the Platinum Reserve trim, provided a 33-degree approach angle and 9.6 inches of ground clearance. The Armada's towing capacity reached 8,500 pounds, with standard trailer sway control and a trailer brake controller. On-road, the Armada's electric power steering offered a nice sense of engagement, while off-road, the adaptive air suspension provided better ground clearance.

Form and function

2025 Nissan Armada

The 2024 Ford Bronco's interior offered comfort in both two-door and four-door body styles, with the latter providing more room than a Jeep Wrangler. The marine-grade vinyl upholstery, however, trapped moisture, making cloth seats in the Heritage Edition a preferable option. The Bronco's two-door model featured a standard hardtop with removable roof panels, while the four-door had a standard fabric soft top with an optional hardtop. Cargo space varied, with the two-door offering 22.4 cubic feet and the four-door providing up to 83 cubic feet with the rear seats folded. The Bronco's interior storage was enhanced by MOLLE panels on the front seat backs.

The 2025 Nissan Armada featured a push-button transmission, freeing up center console space for a wireless charging pad. The Armada's "Zero Gravity" seats provided comfort, with eight-way driver's-side power adjustment standard, increasing to 12-way with four-way lumbar on higher trims. Heated front seats were standard on the SL trim, with cooling available on Platinum and Platinum Reserve trims. The Armada's three-row seating configuration offered flexibility, with the third row folding flat for increased cargo space. Cargo volume increased across the board, with 20.4 cubic feet behind the third row, 56.3 behind the second row, and 97.1 in total. The Armada's headroom and legroom varied depending on the presence of a sunroof, with improvements in third-row legroom.

Technology

The 2024 Ford Bronco came standard with a 12-inch touchscreen Sync 4 infotainment system, featuring wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, FordPass Connect services, and SiriusXM 360L satellite radio. Higher trims offered a connected navigation system and a Bang & Olufsen premium sound system. However, the Sync 4 technology experienced issues with Apple CarPlay connectivity and voice recognition. The Bronco Trail App provided access to maps and information for trails across North America.

The 2025 Nissan Armada featured two large screens, with 12.3-inch displays on the SV and SL trims and 14.3-inch screens on higher trims. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto were standard, along with six USB-C ports. The SL trim added a wireless charging pad and Google Built-In, allowing Google Maps to be viewed on the driver-information display. A head-up display was optional starting at the SL trim level. The base Armada SV had a six-speaker sound system, while a 12-speaker Klipsch Premium Audio System was standard on higher trims.

Safety

The 2024 Ford Bronco Big Bend included standard safety features like forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and a backup camera. The Mid Package added Ford Co-Pilot360 technologies, including lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. The Bronco received favorable crash test ratings from the IIHS, except for its headlight performance, which received a Marginal score. NHTSA ratings were incomplete, with a four-star frontal-impact rating and a three-star rollover resistance rating.

The 2025 Nissan Armada came standard with Nissan's ProPILOT Assist suite of advanced driver-assistance technologies, with enhanced versions available on higher trims. ProPILOT Assist 1.1 added proactive speed management, while ProPILOT Assist 2.1 offered hands-free highway-driving assist technology. Nissan Safety Shield 360 included features like traffic-sign recognition, automatic emergency braking, and blind-spot warning. A surround-view camera was standard on the SL trim, with higher trims offering Nissan's 3D Around View Monitor and Invisible Hood View.
