2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV Reviews Summary

The 2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV trades on the established Equinox nameplate to help ease the transition to battery-electric power, but the Equinox EV is just that: an EV, from the ground up. Its dedicated architecture is wholly independent of the internal-combustion-engined (ICE) Equinox compact SUV. It’s available in two well-known Chevy flavors, LT and RS, with additional differentiation among the more sedate 1LT, 2LT, and 3LT and the sportier 2RS and 3RS. Accounting for current availability puts base MSRP at $43,295, for the 2LT, but that will fall to $34,995 when the 1LT trim level becomes available later in 2024.

Verdict: The Equinox EV does exactly what its name promises, offering the benefits of electric power in a comfortable package, and at a price point that’s hard to beat.

2025 INFINITI QX80 Reviews Summary

The 2025 Infiniti QX80 is the Nissan luxury brand’s de facto flagship. It’s a full-size SUV that competes with the BMW X7, Cadillac Escalade, Land Rover Range Rover, Lexus LX, Lincoln Navigator, and Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class. The QX80 benefits from a redesign for 2025 with new styling, a new powertrain, and updated tech features.

Verdict: The QX80 emphasizes interior space and tech gadgets over driving dynamics.

2025 INFINITI QX80

8/10

The 2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV initially appeared similar to its internal combustion engine counterpart, sharing features like rounded wheel wells and a flat beltline. However, upon closer inspection, the EV version showcased more decisive lines, a thicker body-colored C-pillar, and a sleeker grille. The front fascia was predominantly body-colored, and the rear design was more defined, featuring hexagonal shapes and an LED light bar. Standard 19-inch aluminum wheels were available on the 1LT and 2LT trims, while higher trims boasted 21-inch versions. The Equinox EV offered vibrant color options like "Red Hot" and "Riptide Blue Metallic," with two-tone paint jobs available on select trims. Interior color choices expanded with higher trims, offering options like Adrenaline Red and black with red accents.

The 2025 INFINITI QX80 underwent its first redesign since 2017, growing slightly in length and width while maintaining its height. It retained its body-on-frame architecture with a new frame that improved stiffness. The QX80's styling became more expressive, particularly at the front, with a larger grille and a stacked-headlight setup. The rear end maintained its shape but featured full-width LED taillights. The QX80 offered trims like Pure, Luxe, Sensory, and Autobiography, with wheel sizes ranging from 20 to 22 inches. The interior received a high-tech makeover with a large horizontal display and 64-color ambient lighting, though some shiny black plastic trim detracted from the premium feel.

The 2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV featured a hands-free start and offered one-pedal driving across all trims. It provided a comfortable ride with its 19-inch wheels and was available in single-motor FWD with 213 horsepower or dual-motor AWD with 288 horsepower. The FWD model had an EPA-estimated range of 319 miles, while the AWD version offered 285 miles. The Equinox EV supported DC fast charging up to 150 kW, regaining about 77 miles of range in 10 minutes.

The 2025 INFINITI QX80 was powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6, producing 450 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque, paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. The QX80 felt more energetic than its predecessor, though active sound enhancement added an artificial noise during acceleration. The vehicle featured air suspension with adaptive damping, offering an off-road setting and improved aerodynamics. Despite its size, the QX80's handling was average, and the air suspension couldn't completely smooth out bumps.
