2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV Reviews Summary

It may share a name with the gasoline-powered Blazer crossover SUV, but the Chevy Blazer EV is in fact a new vehicle based on the General Motors Ultium electric vehicle (EV) component set. It’s Chevy’s belated answer to the crosstown rival Ford Mustang Mach-E and other electric SUVs like the Hyundai Ioniq 5, the Kia EV6, and the Tesla Model Y.

Verdict: The Blazer EV offers unique style and impressive technology, but it doesn’t really move the needle when it comes to range, fast charging, or interior packaging. It’s also priced at the higher end of the segment in its launch form.

2025 Hyundai Palisade Reviews Summary

The Palisade is the company’s largest SUV, debuting in 2020 as a replacement for the Hyundai Santa Fe XL. Since then, the automaker has steadily improved the SUV’s styling, technology, and packaging, and that’s also true of the 2025 Palisade. This year, the SEL Premium is a trim level instead of a trim package, and the XRT adds some standard equipment. A redesigned 2026 Palisade is on the way and will undoubtedly improve on this outgoing version.

Verdict: Though the 2025 Palisade marks the last year for the current-generation model, you should still consider one, especially if the deal is too good to pass up. This Hyundai has aged remarkably well and remains more appealing than many of its rivals in the midsize three-row SUV arena.

2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV

6/10

2025 Hyundai Palisade

9/10

The 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV marked a significant evolution for the Blazer nameplate, transitioning from its truck-based off-roader roots to a modern electric SUV. It retained some styling cues from the gasoline-powered Blazer, but its design was more aggressive, with a tall hood and boomerang-shaped taillights. Built on the General Motors Ultium platform, the Blazer EV shared a long wheelbase with the Cadillac Lyriq, giving it a stretched appearance. Despite its size, the Blazer EV maintained a sporty look, distinguishing itself from more aerodynamically styled rivals like the Ford Mustang Mach-E and Kia EV6. The Blazer EV launched with LT and RS trims, each offering unique styling elements, and promised a forthcoming SS model with even more distinctive features.

Inside, the Blazer EV offered a mix of sporty and practical elements. RS and SS models featured large round air vents and a flat-bottom steering wheel, reminiscent of the Camaro. While the interior had some flimsy components, it mostly avoided the overuse of piano-black plastic seen in other brands. The Blazer EV's cabin was designed to be fun and engaging, with optional red leather upholstery adding a splash of color. However, it didn't completely shake off the stereotype of cheap GM interiors, as some parts felt less robust.

The 2025 Hyundai Palisade, on the other hand, stood out with its bold and unmistakable design, especially after the 2023 refresh that gave it a more angular and technical look. The Palisade's exterior was characterized by balanced forms and tasteful body sculpting, giving it an upscale appearance that belied its sticker price. Inside, even the base SE trim offered a clean and modern look, while higher trims like the Calligraphy featured premium materials such as leather, artificial suede, and metal speaker grilles. However, some metallic-surface control markings were difficult to read in daylight.

The Palisade was packed with thoughtful details, including USB charging ports in the front seatbacks, smartphone storage pockets, and drink holders accessible to children. It was available in seven trim levels, ranging from the SE to the luxurious Calligraphy Night Edition. The Calligraphy trim, in particular, offered a host of premium features, including Nappa leather, massaging front seats, and a heated third row. The Palisade's interior was designed for comfort and convenience, with ample storage space and a Smart Liftgate for easy access to the cargo area.

Performance

2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV

8/10

2025 Hyundai Palisade

8/10

The 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV offered a range of powertrain options, including a single-motor rear-wheel drive (RWD) and a dual-motor all-wheel drive (AWD) setup. The RWD models delivered 340 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque, paired with a 102-kilowatt-hour battery pack. The AWD models, with 288 horsepower and 333 pound-feet of torque, came with an 85-kWh battery pack. Interestingly, the dual-motor AWD had a lower output than the single-motor RWD, positioning it as the base offering. A single-motor front-wheel drive (FWD) option was also planned for the 2025 model year. The Blazer EV SS performance model promised a dual-motor AWD powertrain with 557 horsepower and 648 pound-feet of torque, capable of accelerating from zero to 60 mph in under four seconds.

During testing, the RWD and AWD versions of the Blazer EV RS demonstrated strong acceleration, with the AWD model providing better traction off the line. The Blazer EV's handling was precise, but its stiff suspension compromised ride comfort. The steering-wheel paddle for regenerative braking added a level of driver involvement, allowing for adjustments to suit different driving styles and conditions.

The 2025 Hyundai Palisade was powered by a 3.8-liter V6 engine producing 291 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The Palisade's powertrain was smooth and refined, offering plenty of power and a satisfying sound. However, it wasn't particularly fuel-efficient, with recorded fuel economy falling short of EPA estimates. The Palisade's ride was firm at lower speeds but softened at higher speeds, providing a comfortable experience on highways. The Smart driving mode adjusted calibration automatically, while the automatic hold brake function required a firm push on the accelerator to disengage.

The Palisade's handling was reasonable, with well-calibrated brakes and a suspension that offered a good feel for the road. Despite its age, the Palisade's driving dynamics held up well, providing a satisfying experience for drivers who appreciated its V6 engine.

Form and function

2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV

5/10

2025 Hyundai Palisade

10/10

The 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV's interior felt spacious, but its headroom and legroom were comparable to the Ford Mustang Mach-E and Kia EV6. The Blazer EV lacked the commanding driving position of a traditional SUV, and its high side sills and deep dashboard created a unique driving experience. Cargo space was limited, with 25.5 cubic feet behind the second row and 59.1 cubic feet with the seats folded. The Blazer EV offered more cargo space than the EV6 but fell short of the gasoline Blazer and the Mach-E. The interior featured expected small-item storage, but some controls were moved to the touchscreen, requiring adjustment.

The 2025 Hyundai Palisade offered three rows of seats, with our test vehicle featuring a seven-passenger configuration with second-row captain's chairs. The Calligraphy trim provided premium features like Nappa leather, massaging front seats, and heated and ventilated seats in the first two rows. The third row was also heated, a rarity in the segment. The Palisade's interior was designed for comfort, with ample legroom and thoughtful storage solutions. The Smart Liftgate provided hands-free access to the cargo area, which offered 18 cubic feet behind the third row, 48.8 cubic feet with the third row folded, and 86.4 cubic feet with the second row down.

Technology

2025 Hyundai Palisade

9/10

The 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV introduced a new Google-based infotainment system with built-in Google apps, but it eliminated standalone Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The system featured a 17.7-inch touchscreen and an 11-inch digital instrument cluster, both with sharp graphics. The infotainment system included built-in route planning and over-the-air software updates. The Blazer EV also featured a hands-free start sequence, allowing drivers to start the vehicle by pressing the brake pedal.

The 2025 Hyundai Palisade's technology was functional but starting to show its age compared to newer Hyundai models. It featured a 12.3-inch digital driver display and a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, with wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Palisade offered two-device Bluetooth support, wireless smartphone charging, and a Harman Kardon audio system. The voice recognition system performed well, and the Palisade included a head-up display and a surround-view camera system.

Safety

2025 Hyundai Palisade

The 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV came with standard safety features like automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warning, and lane-keep assist. Optional features included reverse automatic braking and the Super Cruise hands-free driver assist system. Crash-test ratings were not available at the time of publication.

The 2025 Hyundai Palisade was equipped with Hyundai SmartSense, offering features like forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and Highway Driving Assist. Higher trims added features like a surround-view camera and Remote Smart Parking Assist. The Palisade earned a Top Safety Pick from the IIHS through 2024 but received a Poor rating in a new frontal-impact test for 2025. The NHTSA awarded it five-star frontal impact and four-star rollover resistance ratings.
