2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV Reviews Summary

It may share a name with the gasoline-powered Blazer crossover SUV, but the Chevy Blazer EV is in fact a new vehicle based on the General Motors Ultium electric vehicle (EV) component set. It’s Chevy’s belated answer to the crosstown rival Ford Mustang Mach-E and other electric SUVs like the Hyundai Ioniq 5, the Kia EV6, and the Tesla Model Y.

Verdict: The Blazer EV offers unique style and impressive technology, but it doesn’t really move the needle when it comes to range, fast charging, or interior packaging. It’s also priced at the higher end of the segment in its launch form.

2025 Buick Enclave Reviews Summary

The Enclave kicks off its third generation, benefitting from Buick’s slick new design language and a host of feature updates. The three-row SUV gets a full redesign, a new powertrain, and tons of tech and safety features that are standard across all three trim levels.

Verdict: Like any vehicle, the new Enclave has its strengths and weaknesses. We think Buick was strategic in its approach to these, focusing its efforts on the areas Enclave shoppers most likely prioritize.

Look and feel

2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV

6/10

2025 Buick Enclave

8/10

The 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV marked a significant evolution for the Blazer nameplate, transitioning from its truck-based off-roader roots to a modern electric SUV. It retained some styling cues from the gasoline-powered Blazer, such as the scowling front end and boomerang-shaped taillights, but was built on a new EV-specific platform. The Blazer EV was designed around its battery pack, sharing a long wheelbase with the Cadillac Lyriq, which gave it a stretched appearance. Despite its larger dimensions compared to rivals like the Ford Mustang Mach-E and Kia EV6, the Blazer EV maintained a bold SUV look rather than adopting the aerodynamic styling of its competitors.

The Blazer EV launched with LT and RS trims, each offering distinct styling elements. The LT featured a color-coordinated front fascia, while the RS boasted a blacked-out front fascia and larger wheels. The forthcoming SS model promised even more unique styling and performance features. Inside, the Blazer EV offered a distinctive interior with large round air vents and a flat-bottom steering wheel, reminiscent of the gasoline Blazer and Camaro. While some interior components felt flimsy, the overall design was free from the piano-black plastic common in other brands, providing a more engaging and fun atmosphere.

The 2025 Buick Enclave presented a bold new look, drawing inspiration from the compact Envista crossover. Its front end featured slim DRLs, a large angular grille, and a high beltline, giving it a sharp appearance. The Enclave's side profile was more generic, but it had a flatter roof and slightly sharpened wheel arches compared to its predecessor. Standard 20-inch wheels adorned the base Preferred trim, while the Sport Touring trim added unique High Gloss Black touches. The top-tier Avenir trim came with 22-inch wheels in a special finish.

Inside, the Enclave offered a modern and premium feel with a floating center console and a large curved display. The Sport Touring trim featured perforated leatherette seats with contrast piping, enhancing the interior's upscale feel. However, the limited availability of a panoramic sunroof was a drawback, as it was only standard on the top trim. Despite this, the Enclave's interior was well-appointed, with features like tri-zone climate control and power-adjustable seats, making it a comfortable choice for families.

Performance

2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV

8/10

2025 Buick Enclave

6/10

The 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV offered a range of powertrain options, including a single-motor rear-wheel drive (RWD) and a dual-motor all-wheel drive (AWD) setup. The RWD models delivered 340 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque, paired with a 102-kilowatt-hour battery pack. In contrast, the AWD models produced 288 horsepower and 333 pound-feet of torque, with an 85-kWh battery pack. Interestingly, the dual-motor AWD had a lower output than the single-motor RWD, positioning it as the base offering. The Blazer EV also introduced a single-motor front-wheel drive (FWD) option for the 2025 model year, expected to be the most affordable and popular configuration. The performance-oriented Blazer EV SS promised a dual-motor AWD powertrain with 557 horsepower and 648 pound-feet of torque, capable of accelerating from zero to 60 mph in under four seconds.

The Blazer EV's driving experience was characterized by strong acceleration, particularly in the RWD and AWD RS models. While the RWD model felt traction-limited, the AWD version provided better off-the-line performance. The Blazer EV's handling was precise, but its stiff suspension compromised ride comfort. The vehicle's regenerative braking system, controlled via a steering-wheel paddle, allowed for adjustable regen levels, enhancing driver involvement.

The 2025 Buick Enclave came equipped with a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, producing 328 horsepower and 326 pound-feet of torque. Power was transmitted through an eight-speed automatic transmission to either the front or all four wheels, with AWD available for an additional $2,000. The Enclave's fuel economy was slightly reduced with AWD, achieving 21 mpg combined compared to 23 mpg for FWD models. The Enclave's towing capacity reached up to 5,000 pounds when properly equipped.

Buick offered two versions of Active Noise Cancellation for the Enclave, with the road noise-targeting iteration standard across all trims. However, the engine noise cancellation was only standard on the top trim, leaving lower trims with a louder turbo engine. The Enclave's driving dynamics were more akin to a full-size vehicle, with loose steering at slower speeds. While not a sports car, the Enclave's driving experience was comparable to competitors like the Mazda CX-90.

Form and function

2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV

5/10

2025 Buick Enclave

8/10

The 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV's interior offered a spacious feel, though its headroom and legroom were similar to the Ford Mustang Mach-E and Kia EV6. The Blazer EV lacked the commanding driving position of a traditional SUV, and its high side sills and deep dashboard created a unique driving experience. Cargo space measured 25.5 cubic feet with the second row in place and 59.1 cubic feet with the seats folded, falling short of the gasoline Blazer but surpassing the EV6. The Blazer EV featured a "presence activated" liftgate for convenient access.

Inside, the Blazer EV provided ample small-item storage, including a secure phone parking spot and a decent-sized center console. However, some climate controls and headlight buttons were integrated into the touchscreen, requiring adjustment for users.

The 2025 Buick Enclave offered eight-way power adjustability for the driver's seat and six-way for the front passenger's seat. Second-row captain's chairs were standard, accommodating up to seven passengers. The Enclave Avenir trim added heated second-row seats and front-row ventilation, along with a two-position memory feature. Tri-zone climate control was standard, with middle-row passengers having their own temperature controls.

The Enclave's second-row seats featured a one-touch power folding and sliding function, available on all trims. The power-folding third-row seats formed a 60/40 split bench, with manual folding on lower trims. The AutoSense liftgate provided hands-free access to the cargo area, which offered 22.9 cubic feet with all seats in place, expanding to 57.1 cubic feet with the third row folded and 97.5 cubic feet with both rear rows down.

Technology

The 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV introduced a new Google-based infotainment system, featuring built-in Google apps like Google Maps and Google Assistant. However, standalone Android Auto and Apple CarPlay were eliminated, leaving iOS users with basic Bluetooth connectivity. The Blazer EV boasted a 17.7-inch touchscreen and an 11-inch digital instrument cluster, both with sharp graphics. The infotainment system included built-in route planning and over-the-air software updates.

The user experience was generally positive, with intuitive layouts, though the touchscreen's angle favored the driver, making it less convenient for passengers. The Blazer EV also featured a hands-free start sequence, allowing drivers to start the vehicle by pressing the brake pedal.

The 2025 Buick Enclave showcased its premium positioning with a large curved display, integrating the infotainment and digital gauge cluster. The 30-inch ultrawide touchscreen was standard across all trims, though Apple CarPlay interrupted the seamless display. A 12-speaker Bose Premium audio system was standard, with a 16-speaker Bose Performance system exclusive to the Avenir trim. Wireless charging, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto were standard, along with Google Built-In and Wi-Fi hotspot capability.

Safety

2025 Buick Enclave

The 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV's crash-test ratings from the IIHS and NHTSA were unavailable at the time of publication. Standard safety features included automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, forward-collision warning, lane-keep assist, and automatic high beams. Optional driver aids included reverse automatic braking, park assist, and the Super Cruise hands-free driver assist system.

The 2025 Buick Enclave emphasized safety with newly standard features like blind-zone steering assist, intersection automatic emergency braking, and traffic-sign recognition. HD Surround Vision with seven selectable camera views was standard, with an option to increase to nine views. Adaptive cruise control was standard, while a head-up display was optional. The Enclave also featured GM's Teen Driver technology and offered Super Cruise on all trims, though it required a subscription after three years.

The 2025 Enclave had not been rated by the IIHS or NHTSA, but the 2024 model scored well in most IIHS tests, with some areas for improvement. The 2024 model received a four-star overall rating from the NHTSA.
