2023 Genesis GV70 Reviews Summary

The definition of luxury has changed. No matter where you look in the various premium vehicle segments, there are entrants that you may not have seen decades ago. From performance SUVs to subcompact crossovers, there are new takes on upscale vehicles. But just as crucially is the entrance of new players. In 2015, the Genesis brand was officially spun off from Hyundai. And with the brand’s expansion into various segments, a compact like the 2023 Genesis GV70 was a must.

The GV70 was introduced for the 2022 model year and for 2023, an all-electric model joins the lineup. We evaluated the GV70 on the whole, but with a special focus on how effective the 2023 Genesis GV70 Electrified is as an EV and as a compact luxury crossover.

2024 Lincoln Nautilus Reviews Summary

All-wheel drive is now standard and although the Nautilus is no longer offered with a turbocharged V6, Lincoln gives drivers the option of a hybrid powerplant with plenty of driving range. Also new this year is some seriously cool tech including a full-width display and Blue Cruise hands-free driving.

Verdict: Luxurious and laden with value, the new Lincoln Nautilus looks like a compelling option alongside pricier German alternatives. In particular, the available hybrid powertrain and impressive technology makes this luxury two-row crossover a standout in its class.

2023 Genesis GV70

8/10

2024 Lincoln Nautilus

9/10

The 2023 Genesis GV70 was a testament to the brand's commitment to luxury and style. Its design drew inspiration from the G70 compact luxury sedan, with split-bar headlights and a distinctive chrome line that elegantly curved from behind the rear window. This design element cleverly suggested a coupe-like SUV without sacrificing versatility. Inside, the GV70's cabin was a showcase of luxury, featuring top-notch materials and impeccable fit and finish. The interior design was both contemporary and classic, with climate controls integrated into a curving bezel and a touchscreen that seamlessly rose from the dash. The GV70's dash featured a full touchscreen, complemented by a rotary dial and button controls on the center console, offering a tactile experience superior to touch capacitive controls found in some competitors.

The 2024 Lincoln Nautilus debuted with a sophisticated and streamlined exterior, hinting at a new direction in Lincoln design. Its grille, reminiscent of a bifurcated design, featured LED lighting that extended through the grill, illuminating the Lincoln star logo. The rear design mirrored this horizontal aesthetic with a full-width animated LED light bar and dual exhaust ports. The interior was a highlight, with a massive full-width screen as its crown jewel. The materials used were of excellent quality, with polished metal accents, ambient lighting, and textures like open-pore wood and fine leather. While the piano key shifter style was a traditional Lincoln element, the overall interior design was modern and luxurious. The Jet Appearance Package added a touch of flair with two-tone paint and black exterior trim, enhancing the Nautilus's visual appeal.

The 2023 Genesis GV70 offered a choice between two powerful engines. The 2.5T model was equipped with a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, producing 300 horsepower and 311 pound-feet of torque. The 3.5T variant featured a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 engine, delivering 375 horsepower and 391 pound-feet of torque. Both engines were paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive, providing a balanced blend of power and handling. The GV70 Electrified model used a 77.4-kWh battery pack, powering two electric motors for a combined 429 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque. It offered a smooth acceleration experience, with a Boost Mode that temporarily increased output to 483 horsepower. The electric GV70 had a range of 236 miles and supported DC fast charging, replenishing the battery from 10 to 80 percent in just 18 minutes.

The 2024 Lincoln Nautilus came standard with a turbocharged four-cylinder engine, generating 250 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. For those seeking more power, the hybrid setup offered 310 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque, with an EPA-estimated 30 mpg in combined driving. The hybrid's range exceeded 600 miles, making it a practical choice for long journeys. The Nautilus featured all-wheel drive and five drive modes, with the adaptive suspension enhancing the driving experience. The hybrid's continuously variable transmission (CVT) was well-tuned, avoiding the typical droning associated with CVTs. While not a driver's car, the Nautilus provided a comfortable and capable ride, with Excite mode offering a sportier driving experience.

Front-seat passengers enjoyed comfortable seating, while rear-seat legroom was tighter, requiring front-row occupants to adjust their seats for optimal comfort. The rear bench offered a reclining feature, enhancing passenger comfort.

The 2024 Lincoln Nautilus excelled in interior comfort, especially with the Black Label model's 24-way Perfect Position front seats, which included a massage function and extended heating. Rear passengers enjoyed 43 inches of legroom, surpassing competitors like the BMW X5 and Mercedes-Benz GLE. The Nautilus offered the Rejuvenate feature, combining massage, lighting, and screen images to create a relaxing atmosphere. Cargo space was generous, with 36 cubic feet behind the second row and 71 cubic feet with the seats folded down in the Premiere trim.
