2023 Genesis GV70 Reviews SummaryThe definition of luxury has changed. No matter where you look in the various premium vehicle segments, there are entrants that you may not have seen decades ago. From performance SUVs to subcompact crossovers, there are new takes on upscale vehicles. But just as crucially is the entrance of new players. In 2015, the Genesis brand was officially spun off from Hyundai. And with the brand’s expansion into various segments, a compact like the 2023 Genesis GV70 was a must. The GV70 was introduced for the 2022 model year and for 2023, an all-electric model joins the lineup. We evaluated the GV70 on the whole, but with a special focus on how effective the 2023 Genesis GV70 Electrified is as an EV and as a compact luxury crossover.
2024 Kia Telluride Reviews SummaryThe 2024 Telluride is one of those rare vehicles that’s almost perfect right off the drafting table. A midsize, three-row crossover SUV, the Telluride was transformational for Kia when it debuted in 2020. Five years later, Kia hasn’t messed with its success, following last year’s refresh with minor detail changes for 2024, including standard amber running lights and gloss-black exterior detailing for the X-Line and X-Pro versions. All it’s missing for near perfection is a more efficient hybrid powertrain. Verdict: To say we recommend buying the 2024 Kia Telluride isn’t the whole story. This is a midsize SUV we would buy ourselves, and we test-drive and evaluate scores of new vehicles each year. Stylish and safe, roomy and rugged, and loaded with surprise-and-delight details, the 2024 Telluride is worthy.

The 2023 Genesis GV70 was a striking blend of luxury and style, drawing inspiration from its sedan counterpart, the G70. Its design featured split-bar headlights and a distinctive chrome line that elegantly curved from behind the rear window, giving it a coupe-like appearance without sacrificing versatility. Inside, the GV70's cabin was a testament to Genesis's luxury credentials, boasting top-notch materials and a design that was both contemporary and classic. The dashboard featured a full touchscreen, complemented by a rotary dial and button controls, offering a user-friendly interface. The gas-powered GV70 was available in two trims, the 2.5T and 3.5T, while the Electrified GV70 offered Advance and Prestige trims, each with a host of luxury features.
In contrast, the 2024 Kia Telluride was available in five core trim levels: LX, S, EX, SX, and SX Prestige, with the option to add the rugged X-Line and X-Pro packages. The Telluride's design was fundamentally attractive, with the X-Line package adding unique grille and wheel designs, roof rails, and increased ground clearance. The SX Prestige X-Line test vehicle featured premium Nappa leather seats, a dual sunroof, and a black interior that, while not the most appealing color, was complemented by simulated open-pore wood trim. The Telluride's cabin was thoughtfully designed, with horizontal controls and a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Despite some hard-to-read metallic finish buttons, the Telluride offered numerous thoughtful details, such as a digital instrumentation panel that changed with the time of day and generous storage space.

The 2023 Genesis GV70 offered a choice between a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine producing 300 horsepower and 311 pound-feet of torque, and a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 engine with 375 horsepower and 391 pound-feet of torque. Both engines were paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. The GV70 Electrified featured a 77.4-kWh battery powering two electric motors, delivering a combined 429 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque, with a Boost Mode increasing output to 483 horsepower for short bursts. The electric GV70 had a range of 236 miles and could fast charge from 10% to 80% in 18 minutes. The GV70's handling was well-rounded, offering a blend of comfort and sportiness.
The 2024 Kia Telluride was powered by a 3.8-liter V6 engine producing 291 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque, with power transferred through an eight-speed automatic transmission. The Telluride's towing capacity was 5,000 pounds, increased to 5,500 pounds with the X-Pro package. The SUV offered a locking center differential and various driving modes, including Snow, Comfort, Sport, and Smart. The Telluride's ride was firm at lower speeds but compliant at higher velocities, providing a smooth driving experience. Despite its power, the Telluride was not fuel-efficient, averaging 19 mpg in combined driving. The SUV's handling was enhanced by brake-induced Torque Vectoring Cornering Control and responsive steering.
The 2023 Genesis GV70 provided 56.9 cubic feet of cargo space with the rear seats folded and 28.9 cubic feet with the seats in use. The GV70 featured a hands-free power liftgate and a well-designed interior with large cupholders and a helpful center console tray. While front-seat comfort was easily adjustable, rear-seat legroom was tighter, requiring front-row occupants to slide their seats forward for rear passengers' comfort.
The 2024 Kia Telluride offered a spacious and comfortable interior, especially in higher trims like the SX Prestige X-Line, which featured premium Nappa leather upholstery and heated and ventilated seats. The Telluride's controls were oriented horizontally, with a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The SUV provided generous storage space and a hands-free power liftgate. Cargo space was ample, with 21 cubic feet behind the third row, 46 cubic feet with the third row folded, and a maximum of 87 cubic feet. The X-Line and X-Pro packages added useful roof rails for additional storage.
The 2023 Genesis GV70 came with a 14.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. The system was user-friendly, with large icons and logical menu navigation. The GV70 also featured four USB ports, wireless device charging, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and a nine-speaker stereo system. Additional features included ambient lighting, a digital instrument panel, and the Genesis digital key.
The 2024 Kia Telluride was equipped with a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, requiring a cable for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The system offered a capable voice recognition system with an active Kia Connect subscription. The Telluride featured satellite radio, wireless smartphone charging, and a 10-speaker Harman Kardon audio system. Thoughtful features included a blue-light filter for the display, Quiet Mode, and a digital key function. The Telluride also offered a camera-based rearview mirror, a 10-inch head-up display, and a 360-degree camera system.
The 2023 Genesis GV70 offered a comprehensive suite of driver-assistance technologies, including forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, driver attention monitoring, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. The Advance Package on the 2.5T and the Sport Advance package on the 3.5T added additional safety features, while the Electrified GV70 included most of these features as standard.
The 2024 Kia Telluride featured the Kia Drive Wise collection of driver assistance features, including collision avoidance, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, and rear occupant protection. Highway Driving Assist was standard, with upgrades available depending on the trim level. The Telluride received a five-star overall crash test rating from the NHTSA and a Top Safety Pick+ rating from the IIHS.
