2022 Hyundai Kona Reviews Summary

In its fifth year on the market, the Hyundai Kona gets its first significant refresh, complete with updated exterior styling, enhanced powertrains, and upgraded convenience, connectivity, and safety features. There are also two new sporty variants—the N Line and the Kona N—giving this subcompact SUV shoppers a legitimate performance option at a budget price.

2023 Kia Sportage Hybrid Reviews Summary

The Kia Sportage is the automaker’s longest-running nameplate in the United States. It started out as a no-frills off-roader, but today the Sportage competes in the red-hot small crossover SUV segment against big names like the Ford Escape, Honda CR-V, and Toyota RAV4, as well as the Hyundai Tucson from Kia’s parent brand. All of those nameplates have added hybrid variants recently, so Kia followed suit as part of a 2023-model-year redesign.

The 2023 Kia Sportage Hybrid will be offered alongside non-hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions of the new Sportage, which represents the nameplate’s fifth generation. The hybrid model is part of an effort to create more space between the Sportage and the smaller Kia Seltos, which also brought increased interior space, more tech, and radical exterior styling.

The Sportage Hybrid arrives at dealerships later this year in base LX, midlevel EX, and range-topping SX-Prestige trim levels (we drove SX-Prestige for this review). Note that this isn’t the same lineup as the non-hybrid Sportage, which gets SX, X-Line, and rugged X-Pro and X-Pro Prestige trim levels as well.

2023 Kia Sportage Hybrid

8/10

The 2022 Hyundai Kona received a significant makeover, enhancing its sophistication with a 1.6-inch increase in length, revised front and rear fascias, and sporty new character lines. The updated LED lighting and new alloy wheel designs contributed to its modern appearance. Inside, the Kona's instrument panel and center console were separated to create a more spacious look, complemented by ambient lighting and a rear USB port for added convenience. The introduction of the N Line and Kona N trims brought unique styling elements, such as body-color cladding and exclusive interior features, enhancing the vehicle's sporty appeal.

In contrast, the 2023 Kia Sportage Hybrid, built on the N3 platform, was 7.1 inches longer with a 3.4-inch longer wheelbase, offering increased rear-seat legroom. Its bold styling featured angular LED headlights and "boomerang" LED daytime running lights, setting it apart from other vehicles. The Sportage Hybrid's interior was designed around a large infotainment display, with a minimalist look and SynTex artificial leather upholstery. Despite some materials feeling cheap, the overall design was elegant, with thoughtful touches like a rotary shift knob and clever cupholder designs.
