2022 Genesis GV70 Reviews SummaryHyundai’s Genesis luxury brand has only been around for about five years, but it’s progressed so much in that time it seems like much longer than that. Genesis has quickly gone from selling two repurposed Hyundai sedans to fielding a full lineup of luxury cars and creating a distinct identity through bold design. The 2022 Genesis GV70 is the brand’s latest effort. Not to be confused with the Genesis G70 sedan, the GV70 is a crossover SUV positioned below the recently-launched Genesis GV80 in size and price, meaning it competes with the Acura RDX, Audi Q5, BMW X3, Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class, Volvo XC60, and numerous other small luxury SUVs. As with the larger GV80 and the Genesis sedans, the challenge for the GV70 will be convincing new-car buyers to abandon familiar nameplates for something they might not have heard of. The GV70 launches with a 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine and optional 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6. The four-cylinder is available with Standard, Select, Advanced, and Sport Prestige trim levels, while the V6 engine is available with all trim levels except the Select. Our test car was a GV70 3.5T, a range-topping AWD Sport Prestige model with the 3.5-liter V6.
2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee Reviews SummaryDesigned and engineered to impress drivers regardless of the weather, road, or terrain, the new 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee retains the stylish looks and unrelenting capability for which the model is legendarily known, combined with a significant upgrade in technology and sophistication. We headed for Moab, Utah to put the redesigned 2022 Grand Cherokee to the test, sampling a wide array of trim levels and powertrains both on and off the pavement.

The 2022 Genesis GV70 showcased a distinctive design, borrowing some styling cues from other Genesis models but maintaining its unique identity. It featured quad LED strips for headlights and taillights, a prominent shield-shaped grille, and a sloping roofline that leaned more towards a fastback style. This combination of SUV bulk and athletic, car-like elements gave the GV70 a rugged yet sleek appearance. The Sport Prestige models added even more flair with unique styling features, including 21-inch wheels with a web pattern and dark chrome trim. Inside, the GV70 boasted an elliptical theme inspired by an airplane wing, with a minimalistic design that included a rotary gear selector and infotainment controller, offering a luxurious feel with options like Nappa leather upholstery.
The 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee retained its traditional Jeep design elements while introducing a two-row version of the previous year's Grand Cherokee L. It offered a range of trims, from the basic Laredo to the luxurious Summit Reserve, each delivering on its promise of simplicity, off-road capability, or luxury. The Grand Cherokee's design paid homage to the classic 1963 Wagoneer with its forward-leaning grille and headlights, and a black roof option added a modern touch. Inside, the Grand Cherokee provided a comfortable experience, with higher trims offering premium features like quilted leather and a McIntosh audio system. Despite some reflections on gloss black controls, the interior maintained a sense of quality and substance.

The 2022 Genesis GV70 offered two engine options: a 2.5-liter turbo-four producing 300 horsepower and 311 lb-ft of torque, and a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 with 375 horsepower and 391 lb-ft of torque. Both engines came with an eight-speed automatic transmission and standard all-wheel drive. The GV70 included features like a rear electronic limited-slip differential and launch control, emphasizing a sporty character. However, the GV70 felt more comfortable on highways than in spirited driving, with a firm ride and less precision compared to competitors like the Acura RDX and BMW X3.
The 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee provided a choice between a 3.6-liter V6 engine with 293 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque, and a 5.7-liter V8 engine delivering 357 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque. The Grand Cherokee offered rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive, with three different 4WD systems for varying off-road capabilities. The Trailhawk trim excelled in off-roading with features like Quadra-Drive II and a Quadra-Lift air suspension. The Grand Cherokee's ride quality was excellent, and it felt nimble and athletic, especially without the Quadra-Lift system.
The 2022 Genesis GV70 provided mid-pack interior space for its segment, with adequate legroom and good rear-seat visibility. Cargo space measured 28.9 cubic feet with the rear seats up and 56.9 cubic feet with them folded. The interior design, while daring, compromised storage space, with limited room in the center console and door pockets. The front seats offered heating, ventilation, and massage functions, though some controls were less intuitive.
The 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee offered comfortable seating for the driver and front passenger, with higher trims providing heated and ventilated seats, a heated steering wheel, and massagers. Visibility was improved, enhancing driver confidence. Rear-seat room was tight for taller passengers, but the Grand Cherokee L offered more space. Cargo capacity was 37.7 cubic feet behind the rear seats and 70.8 cubic feet with them folded, making it accommodating for luggage.
The 2022 Genesis GV70 featured a 14.5-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 12-inch head-up display. The infotainment system was user-friendly, with a glass rotary controller and digital-key feature. Genesis Connected Services offered remote camera activation and other conveniences.
The 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee was a tech powerhouse, with a head-up display, Night Vision system, and multiple touchscreens. The Uconnect 5 infotainment system provided wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Amazon Alexa integration, and a configurable Home display. The optional front passenger interactive display added entertainment options, enhancing the tech experience.
The 2022 Genesis GV70 came with standard safety features like lane-keep assist, forward-collision warning, and blind-spot monitoring. It included eight airbags, with a front-center airbag for added protection. Optional features included Highway Driving Assist 2 with lane-change functionality.
The 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee featured an extensive suite of advanced driver assistance systems, with a safety cage composed of high-strength materials. Intersection Collision Assist and Active Driving Assist provided semi-autonomous driving assistance. A hands-free version of Active Driving Assist was expected to enhance the driving experience further.
