Who Makes Plymouth Cars?
Plymouth was a brand cooked up by the Chrysler Corporation to help it compete with the budget-priced cars produced by key rivals such as Chevrolet and Ford. Initially known for its small-engined cars, Plymouth expanded its range in the 1950s and 1960s, adding larger and more powerful models and muscle cars – but always priced to compete at the lower end of the market.
The 1970s saw a return to more budget-focused models and this continued until through to the 1990s, by which time Plymouth sales were faltering. Chrysler discontinued Plymouth in 2001 in order to focus on its remaining brands.
