What’s New for the 2026 Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid
The 2026 model year brings a host of updates to the Corolla Cross, including revised front and rear styling, with new bumper designs and a color-matched grille in some trims. Interior changes include a new center console, a new 10.5-inch touchscreen, and refreshed styling throughout.
Design
There’s no mistaking the Corolla Cross’ roots, as it shares most of its design elements with the Corolla sedan. It features slim headlights, sculpted sides, and some models offer two-tone paint options. The Hybrid’s new color-matched grill gives it an almost bZ4X EV look, with a unique honeycomb pattern and large air vents on either side.
Powertrain
The Corolla Cross Hybrid comes with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and three electric motors, making a combined 196 horsepower. That combination gives the SUV an estimated eight-second 0-60 mph time, and Toyota claims a combined 42-mpg fuel economy rating. A continuously variable transmission and all-wheel drive are standard. The system offers torque vectoring, which can send up to 50 percent of the available power to the rear wheels when needed, and the back wheels completely disengage when they’re not necessary for traction.
Interior
The 2026 Corolla Cross Hybrid seats five people across two rows. Cloth upholstery is standard, but more expensive trims add synthetic leather, heated front seats, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. It offers a good amount of space for front-seat passengers, with wide, nicely padded buckets and good ergonomics. Back-seat passengers have more space than expected, but the Corolla Cross’ subcompact dimensions mean limited headroom and legroom, which can make taller adults feel cramped.
Technology
The L, LE, S, and SE trims come with an 8-inch touchscreen, while the top XLE and XSE trims have a 10.5-inch display. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard, along with six speakers and USB-C ports. The top two trims upgrade to a nine-speaker JBL stereo, and most configurations include wireless charging. Toyota’s infotainment system is not the most intuitive on the market, but the automaker’s recent improvements have made it much more usable and less distracting to use while driving. It’s more responsive, and the wireless smartphone mirroring features connect seamlessly.
