What’s New for the 2026 Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV
The Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV lineup made its debut in the 2023 model year, along with the EQS Sedan (which we review separately). Mercedes switched up the lineup for 2026, renaming the base trims and making all-wheel drive (AWD) standard. The EQS SUV now features a standard NACS (North American Charging Standard) adapter for Tesla Supercharger network access. There are also some new comfort features, including standard heated second-row seats and a second-row wireless charging pad.
Design
While most electric vehicles are best described as sleek, Mercedes-Benz takes that to a new level. The EQS SUV looks as fresh today as it did when it was first revealed despite few styling changes over its four years. For 2026, the EQS SUV gets some new options, though most are pricey, such as a new paint option in the Manufaktur customization program and a new 22-inch wheel design for the high-end Maybach version.
Powertrain
Thanks to the revised lineup for 2026, every EQS SUV now features AWD. The EQS 400 4Matic comes powered by two electric motors and a lithium-ion battery pack, good for a combined 355 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque. The EQS 550 4Matic SUV bumps that up to 536 hp and 633 lb-ft of torque. Finally, the Maybach EQS SUV makes 649 hp and 700 lb-ft. With the newly standard NACS DC fast charging adapter, the EQS SUV can charge from 10 to 80 percent in about 31 minutes. Range tops out at an estimated 312 miles.

Interior
The EQS SUV seats four, five, or seven, depending on configuration, and gets even more posh for 2026 with new standard features for the second row. Both first and second rows now come heated, and the second row also gains better headrests and a wireless charger in the armrest. Other standard features include leather upholstery, ventilated front seats with memory settings, and sliding and reclining second-row seats. Options include a third row, premium Nappa leather upholstery, massaging front seats, and a rear center console with an infotainment tablet. In two-row configurations, the EQS SUV offers 32 cubic feet of cargo space beneath the rear liftgate, though that shrinks considerably in three-row versions.
Technology
Advanced technology and infotainment features help distinguish the EQS SUV from rivals as well as from less expensive Mercedes-Benz models. The EQS SUV comes standard with a 12.3-inch digital instrument display, a 17.7-inch central infotainment touchscreen, and a 12.3-inch touchscreen for the front passenger; together, this setup is known as the Hyperscreen, forming one continuous display across the dashboard. Features include wireless Apple CarPay and Android Auto, wireless charging in the first and second row, and a Burmester surround-sound stereo system with 15 speakers. Options include gesture controls and a pair of rear 11.6-inch touchscreens.
