What’s New for the 2026 Kia Sportage Hybrid
Kia made substantive changes for 2026, including a new front lighting system with amber LED daytime running lights. The SUV also gained dual 12.3-inch displays with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, new driving modes for some gas trims, new hybrid trims, and more safety features.
Design
The new Sportage Hybrid is more aggressively styled than its predecessor, with a more pronounced “tiger’s mouth” grille and dramatic front lighting elements. Kia also redesigned the taillights with a new “Star Map” look that features transparent lenses and eye-catching lighting designs. Those changes have made the Sportage stand out in a class of more sedately styled SUVs, and Kia has a range of new wheel choices in sizes from 17 to 19 inches.
Powertrain
The 2026 Sportage Hybrid is available with a single powertrain option. It includes a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder and a 47.7-kW electric motor with a combined output of 231 horsepower, a four-pony boost over the 2025 model year. Front-wheel drive is standard, and all-wheel drive is available. The Sportage Hybrid can also two up to 2,000 pounds when properly equipped, enough for a small boat or cargo trailer.

Interior
The five-seat Sportage Hybrid comes standard with cloth upholstery, but more expensive configurations add synthetic leather. Available features include heated and ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, memory driver’s seat settings, and power front seats. Rear cargo space reaches 39.6 cubic feet behind the second-row seats, and up to 73.7 cubic feet with the back seats folded flat. Kia also offers a hands-free power liftgate, making it much easier to access and use the space.
Technology
Kia upgraded the Sportage Hybrid’s technology features for 2026, making a curved 12.3-inch touchscreen standard. It offers wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with over-the-air updates to keep the system current. Kia offers a 10-inch head-up display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, turn-by-turn directions, and safety notifications. A Harman Kardon sound system and wireless phone charging are also available.
