What’s New for the 2026 Hyundai Elantra Hybrid
The entire Elantra lineup was updated in 2024 with a new grille, LED daytime running lights, and upgraded tech, so the 2026 model year is essentially a carryover. The one change for the Hybrid is that the SEL Sport gets standard 17-inch gloss-black wheels.
Design
When the then-new Elantra Hybrid came out in 2021, it ushered in Hyundai’s “Parametric Dynamics” design with angular lines and sharp contours on the side panels. The base Blue gets 16-inch wheels, while the SEL Sport and Limited trims get 17-inch wheels. There are no appearance packages, but there are two $500 premium paint colors: Ultimate Red and Serenity White.
Powertrain
The front-wheel-drive 2026 Elantra Hybrid is equipped with a 1.6-liter inline-four engine and an electric motor, producing a combined output of 139 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque. This powertrain is paired with a six-speed dual-clutch transmission. The base Blue trim is the most fuel-efficient model, getting an EPA-estimated 51 mpg in the city and 58 mpg on the highway. The SEL Sport and Limited both deliver 49 mpg in the city and 52 mpg on the highway.

Interior
The Elantra Hybrid is a five-passenger sedan that boasts the best rear legroom in its class. Though it doesn’t have the largest trunk in the segment, it remains competitive at 14.2 cubic feet. Premium cloth seats are standard on the Blue and the SEL Sport, but the Limited gets leatherette seats. Heated front seats and a power tilt-and-slide sunroof are standard on the Limited trim.
Technology
The base Elantra Hybrid comes standard with an 8-inch infotainment screen that includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Curiously, upgrading to the 10.25-inch screen in the SEL Sport and Limited trims demotes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to wired. Other standard tech features include two front and two rear USB-C ports, speed-sensitive volume control, and a six-speaker audio system. Available features include a 10.25-inch digital cluster, a wireless phone charger, connected car services, a Wi-Fi hotspot, dual automatic climate controls, hands-free automatic trunk release, a smart key, and an eight-speaker Bose premium audio system.
