The 2026 Ford F-250 is currently in its fifth generation, last redesigned for the 2023 model year. It sits in the heavy-duty truck segment, with primary competitors being the Chevrolet Silverado 2500, the GMC Sierra 2500, and the Ram 2500. What’s New for the 2026 Ford F-250 Super Duty
Given that the Ford F-250 is still early in its lifecycle, there haven’t been any significant changes since its launch in 2023, but there are some notable updates for 2026. The Tremor Off-Road Package is now available with the standard-output diesel engine. Next, the Lariat Premium Package bundles more features together for simplicity and cost savings. And finally, there are two new colors: Argon Blue Metallic and Marsh Gray Metallic.
Design
The 2026 F-250 bears a strong resemblance to its smaller sibling, the F-150. That includes the trim-specific grille treatments and signature C-clamp headlight designs. Standard wheels are 17 inches, but 18- and 20-inch wheels are available, depending on the trim. The F-250 offers Regular Cab and SuperCab configurations, but only in the XL and XLT trims. Otherwise, the primary configuration is the Crew Cab. There are also two bed lengths: 6-¾ feet and 8 feet, and the Regular and SuperCabs can only be paired with the 8-foot bed. There are also a few notable appearance packages, starting with the STX Appearance Package, which is offered on the XL and adds the likes of body-colored front and rear bumpers, an LED center high-mounted stop lamp, LED fog lamps, a painted grille, unique wheels, and STX badging. The Black Appearance Package is available on XLT and Lariat trims and includes running boards, unique wheels, black exterior accents, and a spray-in bedliner. The Platinum Plus Package includes chrome grille inserts, additional chrome exterior accents, and 20-inch high-gloss-painted aluminum wheels. While there is no dedicated off-road trim for the F-250, there are a couple of off-road packages, including the FX4 Off-Road Package (available on all trims) and the Tremor Off-Road Package (available on XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, and Platinum).
Powertrain
The 2026 Ford F-250 offers four engine options: a 405-horsepower 6.8-liter V8, a 430-hp 7.3-liter V8, a 475-hp 6.7-liter turbocharged V8 diesel, and a high-output 500-hp 6.7-liter turbocharged V8 diesel. The base engine is only available with the XL, XLT, and Lariat, while all other engines are available on all trims. The F-250 comes standard with rear-wheel drive (RWD) on all trims except the top two, which have standard four-wheel drive (4WD). 4WD is available on all trims. Because the F-250 is a heavy-duty truck, it is exempt from official EPA fuel economy ratings. However, owners report 18 to 22 mpg on the highway with the diesel engine, and those with the 7.3-liter V8 report 13 to 16 mpg. The maximum towing rating for the F-250 is 22,000 pounds, and that can only be found on trucks with the turbodiesel engines in the 4x4 SuperCab and Crew Cab configurations.

Interior
The 2026 F-250 seats three to six passengers, depending on the cab and seating configurations. The two-door Regular Cab models will seat three with a front bench seat. The Super and Crew Cab configurations will seat up to six passengers with the front bench seat, but the passenger count drops to five if the truck is equipped with front bucket seats. On the base XL, vinyl seating surfaces are standard with cloth seats available for $100. However, proving that the Super Duty trucks in the Ford lineup are more than just work trucks these days, the top trims come with leather seats, and leatherette seating surfaces are available on mid-level models. A power moonroof is available on Crew Cab models starting on the XLT trim. In lieu of a trunk, the F-250 offers a lot of interior cargo storage, including a large center console and lockable under-seat storage on models equipped with a rear seat.
Technology
Even though the base XL trim is more of a work truck, it still includes many standard tech features, such as an 8-inch infotainment screen, the Sync 4 operating system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a subscription-based 5G Wi-Fi hotspot that connects up to 10 devices. The base audio system is a four-speaker AM/FM stereo, but two different B&O sound systems are available on upper trims. Other available features include a 12-inch infotainment screen, connected navigation, a head-up display, remote start, wireless phone charging, power-adjustable pedals, and dual-zone automatic climate controls. The really cool available tech, however, includes Onboard Scales, Pro Trailer Hitch Assist, Pro Power Onboard, and a Tailgate Down Camera.
