While some automakers’ new electric models take a dramatic step away from the styling of other vehicles in their lineup, Mercedes’ approach involves familiar-looking models with somewhat recognizable names. The EQS SUV follows that roadmap, filling the top spot in the automaker’s electric SUV lineup and slotting into the catalog above the smaller, less expensive EQB and EQE SUVs.

What’s New for the 2025 Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV
The EQS SUV is only in its third year on sale, so Mercedes has kept updates to a minimum. It received a few new standard features for the 2025 model year, and buyers have new options to choose from, depending on the trim level.
Design
The EQS features a more rounded shape than the gas-powered GLS SUV, which helps improve its aerodynamics and increase range. It is available with a range of wheel options, with some designs exclusive to options packages.
Powertrain
Mercedes offers four electric powertrain options for the 2025 EQS. The base configuration features a single motor with 355 horsepower and 419 pound-feet of torque. The EQS 450 comes with two motors making the same horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque. The EQS 580 also has two motors, with output cranked to 536 horsepower and 633 pound-feet of torque, and the Maybach EQS 680 features 649 horsepower and 700 pound-feet of torque. Rear-wheel drive is standard, but most come with all-wheel drive by default. All models are reasonably quick, with the base configuration offering a 6.5-second 0-60 mph time and the top Maybach model doing the deed in just over four seconds.

Interior
The base EQS configuration offers seating for five, but some have seven seats. Leather upholstery, power front seats, and heated/ventilated front seats are also standard. Higher trims add Nappa leather upholstery, massaging, illuminated seatbelt buckles, heated second- and third-row seats, and more. The Maybach model gets neck heaters, massaging second-row seats, and the most upscale interior experience in the bunch.
Technology
A massive 17.7-inch digital gauge cluster and 12.3-inch touchscreen come standard, offering wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Other standard tech features include biometric authentication, Bluetooth, a Wi-Fi hotspot, navigation, a Burmester audio system, wireless charging, SiriusXM radio, HD radio, LED ambient interior lighting, and more. Mercedes throws everything and the kitchen sink at the EQS for tech features, but there are so many options and settings that it can be confusing for new users, especially while driving.
