The Mercedes-Benz EQB is a fully electric crossover. Unlike the other members of the EQ class, however, it was not designed as an electric vehicle (EV) from the ground up but instead is based on the gas-powered Mercedes GLB. It is offered with three powertrains, designated EQB 250+, EQB 300 4Matic, and EQB 350 4Matic, and it competes with the other small crossover EVs like the Audi Q4 e-tron, the Genesis GV60, and the Tesla Model Y.

What’s New for the 2025 Mercedes-Benz EQB
Mercedes expands the EQB’s trim lineup for 2025 with the addition of the Exclusive trim, sitting between the base Premium and range-topping Pinnacle. All three are available with any of the three powertrains for a total of nine configurations, not counting options packages. The automaker also introduces a Design Package for the EQB, plus a new paint color option and two new available wheel styles.
Design
The EQB’s proportions and profile are quite similar to those of the GLB, but its exterior styling has a few dead giveaways. One is the shiny, solid-state “Black Panel” front end where the grille would be on the combustion-engined GLB. The EQB also features full-width lights across both the front and rear. Headlights, taillights, and daytime running lights (DRLs) are all LED.
Mercedes offers a broad range of wheel designs for the 2025 EQB, and several are available at no extra charge. The base EQB 250+ Premium can be equipped with any one of four 18-inch wheel styles without adding to the price, and this includes an AMG five-spoke option. 19- and 20-inch wheels are also available, and the EQB 350 comes with 19-inch wheels by default.
The $2,900 AMG Line package adds a chrome Star pattern to the Black Panel and gives the EQB more aggressive-looking bodywork and styling. The starred Black Panel is also included as part of the new EQB Design Package, at $750.
Powertrain
Each of the Mercedes EQB’s three powertrains offers different benefits. For the longest range, you’ll want the EQB 250+: with a single electric motor, it’s front-wheel-drive (FWD) only and has a 250-mile range. The EQB 250+ puts out 188 horsepower and 284 pound-feet of torque.
For the most power, look to the EQB 350 4Matic. Its front and rear electric motors make 288 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque combined and provide all-wheel drive (AWD), hence the 4Matic designation. Range suffers, though, dropping down to 206 miles.
Finally, the EQB 300 4Matic is the middle-of-the-road option. It also uses two electric motors and is AWD, but power output is 225 hp and 288 lb-ft of torque, and the EPA estimates the EQB 300’s range at 205 miles.
All three EQB powertrains have a single-speed automatic transmission and a 70.5-kWh battery. All are capable of DC fast charging at speeds up to 100 kW via the combined charging system (CCS) standard. Mercedes estimates that the battery can be DC charged from 10 to 80 percent in about 35 minutes. AC charging time is 8.25 hours from 10 to 100 percent.

Interior
The Mercedes EQB seats either five or seven depending on your choice of configuration. The optional third row does cut into cargo space, and it’s cramped enough to be best left for children or smaller adults. The second-row seats are 40/20/40 split and also slide, fold, and recline.
The 2025 EQB comes standard with power front seats upholstered in MB-Tex (synthetic leather). Heated front seats become standard with the new Exclusive trim, but three-position front-seat memory, dual-zone automatic climate control, pre-entry climate control, and a power liftgate are featured in every EQB. The new EQB Design Package adds rose gold accents to the seats and the air vents.
Technology
The 2025 EQB comes with a 10.25-inch digital gauge cluster and a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen running MBUX. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and so is MB Navigation with augmented video. Every EQB also offers voice control with natural language understanding which is activated with the phrase “Hey Mercedes.” The new Exclusive trim gets a Burmester sound system, and the Pinnacle trim adds a head-up display. The Mercedes EQB is capable of over-the-air (OTA) software updates.
