What’s New for the 2025 Kia Sportage Hybrid Plug-In
The Sportage plug-in hybrid (PHEV) was first introduced for the 2023 model year. It carries over to 2025 with few to no changes.
Design
The Sportage Plug-In Hybrid has a forward-thinking design, with a distinctive front fascia that sets it apart from rivals. It is offered in two trims, the X-Line and the X-Line Prestige. Both trims come with 19-inch alloy wheels, black roof rails, and dark exterior accents.
Powertrain
Under the hood, the 2025 Sportage PHEV features a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine working with a 13.8-kilowatt-hour battery pack and an electric motor to put out a combined 261 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. Power is routed through a six-speed automatic transmission to standard all-wheel drive (AWD).
With the battery fully charged, the Sportage can travel about 34 miles on electric-only power. The battery can be charged up in about two hours using a 240-volt charger or overnight using a wall-style 120-volt outlet.
The EPA uses MPGe (miles per gallon of gasoline equivalent) to rate the fuel economy of plug-in hybrids, factoring in the energy conservation of the electric power. The Sportage Plug-In Hybrid returns 84 MPGe. When the electric power is expended, this powertrain returns a combined 35 mpg.

Interior
Standard features on the 2025 Sportage Plug-In Hybrid include dual-zone automatic climate control, synthetic leather upholstery, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, and heated front seats. It also comes standard with push-button start remote keyless entry, a panoramic moonroof, and remote start. The X-Line Prestige adds a heated steering wheel, ventilated front seats, and a power-adjustable front passenger seat.
The Sportage PHEV has up to 65.5 cubic feet of cargo space. With the rear seat in use, it has 34.5 cubic feet of cargo space, accessed via a standard power liftgate.
Technology
Standard tech for 2025 features include a fully digital instrument panel, a 12.3-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. It also comes standard with wireless device charging, a Wi-Fi hotspot, navigation, multiple USB ports, HD radio, and satellite radio. Available features include an upgraded 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and an eight-speaker Harman Kardon audio system.
