The 2026 Jeep Grand Wagoneer is a three-row SUV for families who need space.
The Grand Wagoneer is a full-size SUV and shares its body-on-frame platform with the Ram 1500 pickup truck. It gets a refresh for 2026 that includes a new illuminated grille, more affordable pricing, and a simplified trim and naming structure. Even with the new lower starting price, the Grand Wagoneer is still packed with a lot of standard up-level features and has one of the best third-row seats in the segment.
Verdict: The Jeep Grand Wagoneer is a super-sized SUV that needs plenty of space to maneuver. While it’s a bit out of place in a city, the Grand Wagoneer shines in the suburbs or on road trips, begging for a family to fill its comfortable seats. It offers generous seating for up to eight passengers with good shoulder room in the third row to fit three children or small adults comfortably and has competitive cargo space for a vehicle in this segment.
Four years into its lifecycle, the 2026 Jeep Grand Wagoneer gets a refresh. It retains its upright stance, low belt line, and large windows, but the new illuminated grille and welcome-lighting sequence create a very different vibe. Inspired by the grille of the all-electric Wagoneer S, the new nose has a fresh and modern feel. The new-for-2026 Upland trim we tested adds well-integrated front recovery hooks in the lower fascia that increase utility without detracting from the elegant design.
The interior also has an air of modernity with its clean design and strong horizontal lines. While the 12-inch infotainment screen seems a bit small for such a large vehicle, it’s thankfully not an everything’s-in-the-screen design, and there are some redundant HVAC and audio controls. The seats may look a little plain, but they're very comfortable. We covered 200 miles during our test and found the seats had just the right amount of cushion for three hours behind the wheel. They're also highly adjustable, which makes them great for a wide variety of drivers.
Trim and material usage throughout the cabin is more premium than mainstream, and we particularly appreciated the solid metal feel of the gearshift dial. Though entry-level trims come with a lower grade leather, Nappa and Palermo leather are available in upper trims with perforation and reverse-stitching details, and a suede headliner is also available. From the doors that close with a solid thwap to the armrest closure that doesn’t feel flimsy, we rated the Grand Wagoneer's overall fit and finish.
The Grand Wagoneer's standard powertrain is the 3.0-liter Hurricane twin-turbo inline six-cylinder engine, which delivers 420 horsepower and 468 pound-feet of torque. When we first tested this engine in the Ram 1500, we thought it was delightful, and it’s just as delightful in the Grand Wagoneer. It delivers smooth and effortless power, even in a vehicle that weighs about 6,000 pounds. For those who pine for a Hemi V8, we’d like to point out that the Hurricane delivers more horsepower and torque than the 5.7-liter Hemi in a Ram 1500 (which used to be available in this Jeep). It also delivers power in a more elegant way, which makes it feel quiet and luxurious.
It’s worth noting the new Grand Wagoneer does get an effective power downgrade for 2026. When the lineup was divided between the Wagoneer and the Grand Wagoneer, the latter was equipped with the high-output Hurricane engine rated at 540 hp and 512 lb-ft. With the deletion of the Wagoneer for 2026, there is just one powertrain, and that’s the standard-output Hurricane. Without testing the two powertrains back-to-back, we didn’t notice any lack in the get-up-and-go department from the standard engine.
The 2026 Grand Wagoneer is also slated to get a range-extended electric powertrain with a 92-kilowatt-hour battery pack and 3.6-liter V6 gasoline engine. The V6 powers a 130-kilowatt generator to charge the battery when depleted. This powertrain will deliver an estimated 647 hp and 620 lb-ft of torque, along with an anticipated total range of more than 500 miles using both gasoline and electric power.
While the Grand Wagoneer has large, boat-like proportions, we found it surprisingly agile and easy to drive. With the large windows and squared off corners, it was always easy to see exactly where we were in the lane on the highway, and the sheer size of this SUV helped to absorb the worst bumps from construction grooves and city potholes. While there is a little tire and wind noise, the Grand Wagoneer is on the quiet side of the spectrum. As a bonus, we found the seats to be surprisingly comfortable for a wide range of passenger sizes, and we say that after more than six hours behind the wheel.
The 2026 Jeep Grand Wagoneer is a great people mover, with three rows that have plenty of leg and hip room for all its passengers. Our test vehicle had the optional bench seat in the second row, which means it could comfortably seat up to eight passengers. We say that with some surprise, as third rows are often in-case-of-emergency spaces. But the third row in the Grand Wagoneer will actually fit three people of small to average stature without squishing them in like sardines.
Using the third row sacrifices cargo space, but even so, buyers have 27.9 cubic feet available, which is plenty of room for strollers or athletic gear. It’s just not going to fit enough luggage for eight on a road trip. For those who need a vehicle that can transport that many people and their stuff, there is a long-wheelbase version that adds about a foot in length and nearly doubles the cargo capacity, taking cargo volume behind the third row up to 42.6 cubic feet. And for those who need even more stuff than that, the Grand Wagoneer can tow up to 10,000 pounds when properly equipped.
We also appreciate the three-zone automatic climate controls, heated-and-ventilated front seats, and power-operated driver and front passenger seats in the Grand Wagoneer Upland. This model is pretty well equipped, despite being closer to the bottom of the lineup. For drivers planning on some light off-roading, the Upland has Quadra-Lift air suspension, front recovery hooks, skid plates, and all-terrain tires.
The Jeep Grand Wagoneer comes standard with all the tech gadgets buyers would expect in a 2026 model, including wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 12-inch touchscreen display, a 10.25-inch digital cluster, a wireless phone charger, a hands-free power liftgate, three-zone automatic climate controls, a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot (subscription required), connected travel and vehicle services (subscription also required), and USB ports galore. Available features on higher trims include a front console cooler, digital rearview mirror, a 23-speaker McIntosh premium sound system, a 12-inch digital cluster, a front passenger interactive display, and four-zone climate controls.
All the tech we tested worked really well, except for the wireless phone charger. During a three-hour period, it didn’t actually charge an iPhone 16 but did eventually overheat the phone. The only other ding we have in the tech arena is with the 12-inch infotainment screen. While this is a generous size for a touchscreen in most vehicles, it seems a bit small for the size of this vehicle. This is the smallest infotainment screen in the segment, and we’d like to see a 15- or 17-inch screen here that matches competitive vehicles.
For 2026, the Jeep Grand Wagoneer does away with adjustable pedals. This feature was standard on the 2022 through 2025 models but is no longer available on any trim starting with the 2026 model year. The only full-size SUVs that still have adjustable pedals for this model year are the Lincoln Navigator and the Ford Expedition.
The 2026 Grand Wagoneer is packed with safety features designed to prevent accidents. These include lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitors, rear cross-traffic alert, intersection-collision assist, front and rear parking sensors, tire pressure monitoring, rear-seat reminders, and a driver-attention monitor. Available features include automated parallel and perpendicular park assist, a head-up display, and a surround-view camera system. Our Upland test vehicle also had blind-spot monitors with trailer detection, a trailer-brake control, and a trailer-hitch zoom.
With a vehicle this large, the likes of blind-spot monitors are a huge plus, and we don’t think we could have navigated the tight city spaces half as well without the surround-view camera system. While the former is standard on all trim levels, the latter is not standard on the base, Limited or Altitude, but is available as a part of the Premium Group package, and we strongly recommend it. The surround-view cameras are high-def, and show dynamic guidelines as well as proximity to obstacles with red, yellow, and green visual cues.
The 2026 Grand Wagoneer received fair ratings from both the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). It gets a mix of Good and Marginal scores in the IIHS crash tests, with lower scores coming from the updated moderate front overlap test due to higher potential for head and neck injuries in the driver and chest injuries in the rear passengers. The NHTSA gave it a four- out of five-star safety rating.
In addition to the exterior refresh, Jeep made a huge push to lower the pricing on the Grand Wagoneer for 2026. This was possible due to the power downgrade and the deletion of some of the more bougier tech features, such as the adjustable pedals. Additionally, Jeep added a base Grand Wagoneer model with standard rear-wheel drive (RWD). Previously, all Grand Wagoneers had four-wheel drive (4WD).
The base price for the RWD Grand Wagoneer is $60,111. That’s more than $20,000 less than the base price of the 2025 model. Upgrading to 4WD adds $3,000 to the bottom line, and the long-wheelbase model adds another $3,000. The overall price range for the 2026 Grand Wagoneer is $60,111 to $95,495, which puts it at a price advantage compared to the GMC Yukon, the Lincoln Navigator, and the Cadillac Escalade.
The base RWD model is the most fuel-efficient, as it ekes out 1 mpg more in highway driving than other models for 24 mpg highway, 17 mpg city, 19 mpg combined. Some drivers will miss the high-output engine, but one of the big benefits of the power downgrade is that they no longer have to use premium fuel.
For our money, we really like the new Upland trim, which starts at $68,270. It’s well packaged, with a lot of premium amenities such as the tri-pane sunroof, Quadra-Lift air suspension, tow hooks, skid plates, and surround-view camera system, without including a lot of the over-the-top amenities.
