2024 Volvo XC60 Reviews, Pricing & Specs

Overview
The Volvo XC60 gets a new Black Edition, available on the top Ultimate trim, added to the lineup for the 2024 model year.
The 2024 Volvo XC60 is a stylish and sophisticated midsize SUV. It has a world-class cabin, though its tech can be a bit clunky to use.
What’s New for the 2024 Volvo XC60
For the 2024 model year, Volvo introduces the Ultimate Black Edition, which is offered with the standard B5 powertrain or the T8 Recharge powertrain. The Ultimate Black Edition combines the top-tier Ultimate trim with a new design setup for the midsize luxury crossover.
Design
The Black Edition trim stands out from the rest of the XC60 lineup with its Onyx Black exterior color, as well as a number of black exterior accents. It also comes with 21-inch black gloss alloy wheels.
Powertrain
The base B5 powertrain in the 2024 XC60 is a mild-hybrid turbocharged four-cylinder engine that makes 247 horsepower. An eight-speed automatic transmission routes power to standard all-wheel drive (AWD). The B5 returns fuel economy of 22 mpg city, 29 highway, and 25 combined.
The available T8 powertrain, designated "Recharge" in Volvo's parlance, is a plug-in hybrid setup. It combines a 312-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder engine with a 143-horsepower electric motor for a combined output of 455 horsepower. The T8 powertrain earns 63 MPGe (miles per gallon of gasoline equivalent), and when the electric power is depleted, it returns 28 mpg city. Both powertrains require premium fuel. When properly equipped, the XC60 can tow up to 3,500 pounds.
Interior
Volvo offers a number of interior design themes, but for the Black Edition, there are just two: Charcoal Ventilated Nappa Leather or Nappa Leather, leatherette, or textile sport seats. Both choices are paired with a black headliner. The Ultimate Black Edition is further set off by contrasting metal interior trim, as well as an eye-catching crystal gear shifter by Orrefors. Trims for the XC60 include Core, Plus, and Ultimate. There’s also the Polestar Engineered, which is fully loaded with every possible option.
Standard features on the XC60 include dual-zone automatic climate control, a panoramic sunroof, and premium cloth upholstery. It’s available with leather upholstery, ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, and quad-zone automatic climate control.
The Volvo XC60 provides up to 63.3 cubic feet of cargo space, accessed via a standard power liftgate.
Technology
The 9-inch portrait-oriented touchscreen in the center of the dash is home to Volvo’s Google-based infotainment system. It has Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a Google-based navigation system. The XC60 also comes with a fully digital instrument panel. A 14-speaker Harman Kardon premium stereo system is offered as available equipment.
Safety
The XC60 provides a comprehensive suite of driver-assistance features, including forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, traffic-sign recognition, rain-sensing windshield wipers, rear parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. It’s also available with a head-up display, adaptive cruise control, and a 360-degree parking camera system.
Pricing
At the time of this writing, the 2024 Volvo XC60 has a base MSRP of $46,450. As for the Ultimate Black Edition trims, the B5 version has a starting price of $57,500, and the T8 Recharge costs $68,950. The XC60 is backed by a four-year/50,000-mile powertrain warranty. The hybrid components in the T8 Recharged are backed by an eight-year/100,000-mile warranty.
