Overview

The Ford F-250 gets a new "flex fuel" feature for some powertrains, as well as standard nav for most trims and an available onboard scale system.

Ford trucks sell better than pickups from any other brand, and the sales success extends to its heavy-duty models. The F-250 and higher models offer impressive capability, and many have luxurious features that make them easier than ever to live with as an only vehicle.

What’s New for the 2024 Ford F-250

Ford gave the F-250 a few updates for 2024, including a new "flex fuel" feature for the base XL trim’s V8, standard navigation for most trims, and an available onboard scale system that measures trailer and payload weights.

Design

The F-250 isn’t radically different from the light-duty F-150 in appearance, with each trim getting a unique exterior configuration. More basic configurations like the XL get black plastic exterior trim, while more expensive variants bring plenty of chrome and high-end styling elements. Ford offers a range of wheel designs depending on the trim, with top models adding more elaborate choices.

Powertrain

Ford offers a handful of beefy powertrain options for the 2024 F-250. The base mill is a 6.8-liter V8 with 400 horsepower and 445 pound-feet of torque. The available 7.3-liter gas V8 produces 430 horsepower and 485 pound-feet of torque. Two 6.7-liter diesel options are available, including one with 475 horsepower and 1,050 pound-feet of torque and a high-output variant with 500 horsepower and 1,200 pound-feet of torque. A 10-speed automatic transmission and either rear- or four-wheel drive (RWD or 4WD) come standard.

Interior

Though we’re talking about a rugged, heavy-duty truck, the F-250 offers plenty of creature comforts that make it easily daily-drivable. Lower trims get work-ready features like vinyl upholstery and flooring, but cloth and carpeting are available. Top variants get rich leathers and are available with luxury tech, including heated and ventilated seats with massage, and more.

Technology

An 8-inch touchscreen comes standard, bringing Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Bluetooth, SiriusXM radio, and more are also on board by default. Higher trims step up to a 12-inch display with wireless smartphone mirroring. Ford’s Sync infotainment software is one of the easiest-to-use and least-distracting systems around. The larger available display brings the ability to run two apps simultaneously, and both units offer responsive and intuitive operation.

Safety

Ford offers a handful of advanced driver aids as optional equipment, but the only standard gear is automatic emergency braking and forward-collision warnings. Commercial vehicles, including trucks like the F-250, don’t get regular crash tests from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and others, but automakers often offer safety gear as added-cost options, which is the case with the F-250.

Pricing

Pricing for the 2024 F-250 XL starts at around $45,000. The F-250 Limited moves the price to more than $97,000 to start. Both numbers are before destination, options, and taxes, and buyers frequently spend much more than the base MSRP on commercial trucks.
