2023 Mitsubishi Outlander Reviews, Pricing & Specs

Overview
Though it's a carryover model for 2023, the Mitsubishi Outlander does get new special editions added to its lineup for the new year.
The 2023 Mitsubishi Outlander is one of the rare compact SUVs that offer three rows of seating. It also has head-turning styling, inside and out.
What’s New for the 2023 Mitsubishi Outlander
For 2023, Mitsubishi introduces Ralliart and 40th Anniversary editions. Otherwise, the Outlander is largely a carryover from the 2022 model.
Design
Trims for the 2023 Outlander are ES, SE, and SEL. These trims are also available in sub-trims and with special edition packages. The ES comes with 18-inch alloy wheels and fog lights. The SE Special Edition features 20-inch alloy wheels and roof rails. The (non-Special Edition) SE trim loses the roof rails. The BE (Black Edition) trim features black 20-inch alloy wheels, a black hood badge, and black side mirrors with LED turn signals. The roof rails return with the SEL trim. The Ralliart features unique, performance-inspired styling touches. The 40th Anniversary Edition features a unique, contrasting roof design.
Powertrain
The 2023 Outlander comes equipped with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine. It generates 181 horsepower and 181 pound-feet of torque. Power is sent to the front wheels or to available all-wheel drive (AWD), which Mitsubishi calls Super All-Wheel Control (S-AWC).
Fuel economy for the front-wheel drive (FWD) Outlander is 24 mpg city, 31 highway, and 27 combined. The AWD version returns 24 mpg city, 30 highway, and 26 combined.
Interior
With the second and third rows folded, the Outlander provides a total of 79.7 cubic feet of cargo space. With the second row in use, that falls to 33.5 cubic feet of cargo space, and with all seats folded up, you get just 11.7 cubic feet behind the rear seats. All trims except for the base ES come with a power lift gate.
Standard features on the Outlander ES include dual-zone automatic climate control, manually adjustable front seats, and cloth upholstery. The SE adds heated front seats, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, and synthetic leather and suede upholstery. The SEL adds a power-adjustable front passenger seat, heated rear seats, and leather upholstery.
Technology
The Outlander comes standard with two USB ports, Bluetooth connectivity, and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Moving up to the SE trim adds a 9-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto. It also adds wireless device charging and rear-seat USB ports.
Safety
Standard driver-safety tech on the Outlander includes forward and reverse automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, automatic high beams, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. The SE trim adds stop and go adaptive cruise control, front parking sensors, a 360-degree parking camera system, and traffic-sign recognition.
Pricing
At the time of this writing, the 2023 Mitsubishi Outlander has a base MSRP of $27,895 for the ES trim. The SE Special Edition starts at $29,845, and the SE trim starts at $30,945. The Black Edition (BE) starts at $32,145. The SEL starts at $34,445, and the Ralliart starts at $35,945. The range-topping 40th Anniversary Edition appropriately starts at just over $40K (specifically, $40,295). The Mitsubishi Outlander is backed by a 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty.

What owners say
There is no better bang for your buck when it comes to naturally aspirated 4cyl. Interior is quite nice for the price point and we get 29-32mpgs during our daily commute. The vehicle is slow. The plastic panel clips break. The weather stripping is not holding up. The worst issue is that the brake shim clips keep coming off and make a terrible squeak when you are pulling into a parking spot or driveway. They’ve attempted to fix the remedy by using a stronger glue but it doesn’t work. My wife had same model before trading it in…the last straw was her vehicle running out of gas twice with more than 100miles left on range which turned out to be a bad fuel pump as well as its components. Warranty covered everything, but still frustrating for a vehicle we bought new and made it 20,000 miles
July 14, 2025This is my 4th Mitsubishi - they come with almost everything you could imagine, always a great vehicle!
February 2, 2023It’s a nice looking car at a decent price… steering wheel feels kinda cheap and there is no way anyone, even kids are getting in that 3rd row. If you need a third row find another vehicle. A gain it looks great…
