2022 Ford F-350 Super Duty Reviews, Pricing & Specs

Overview
The Ford F-350 Super Duty enters its last model year before a planned overhaul to the heavy-duty pickup.
The Ford F-350 sits right in the middle of the brand’s heavy-duty truck lineup and offers incredible capability for those who need it. The truck is getting a full overhaul for 2023, so changes for 2022 are minimal at best.
Ford offers the 2022 F-350 Super Duty in several configurations. Trims include XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, and Limited. Buyers can choose from three cabs, including regular, SuperCab, and Crew, and two bed lengths of up to eight feet. The F-350 is also available in dual rear-wheel configuration for people who need to haul and tow the heaviest loads.
The F-350 is available with three engines, including a diesel option. The base engine is a 6.2-liter gas V8 rated at 385 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque. A 7.3-liter gas V8 is also available that produces 430 horsepower and 475 pound-feet of torque. The range-topping powertrain option is a 6.7-liter PowerStroke diesel engine that produces 475 horsepower and 1,050 pound-feet of torque. A ten-speed automatic transmission is standard across the board, and buyers can choose rear- or four-wheel drive (RWD or 4WD).
Entry-level trims are more basic, stripped-down work trucks, but higher trim levels bring luxurious finishes and materials. The base XL trim gets vinyl upholstery with no carpeted flooring, while the King Ranch and other high-end trims get premium leather, wood, and other upscale finishes.
All cab choices provide generous interior space, but the crew cab model offers the most seating and passenger room of the bunch. Small-item storage is generous, with a cavernous center console, a large glove box, and massive door pocket storage spaces. The crew cab configuration also comes with lockable storage under the back seat. Top trims add heating and cooling for the front seats, and certain configurations are available with Ford’s excellent massaging multi-contour seats.
The base XL trim lacks a touchscreen, but all others get at least an 8-inch display starting with the XLT trim. It brings Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and more. Top trims get a 12.0-inch display that runs Ford’s latest Sync 4 software. The larger display offers the ability to run two apps at the same time, and Sync 4 is even more of a good thing than its predecessor. The new system brings over-the-air (OTA) updates and better voice controls, but the older Sync 3 that runs on the smaller display is just fine, offering a quick and easy way to change stereo settings, input an address, or set climate functions.
The 2022 Ford F-350 Super Duty with a single cab and long bed starts at $41,960 before options, destination, and taxes. At the top end of the F-350 lineup, the F-350 Limited with dual rear wheels, crew cab, and 6.7-liter diesel starts at $94,065. A few options, including a winch package, off-road packages, and a snow plow kit, can push that model’s price tag past $100,000.

What owners say
"Overall, drivers appreciate the 2022 Ford F-350 Super Duty for its rugged build and capabilities, particularly for towing and handling heavy loads. Many find it a top contender in its class. However, some express disappointment with the lack of features such as cruise control in the base models and feel that certain aspects, like the rear bumper, could be improved."
Main concern was low mileage and upgrading from 1/2 ton to 3/4 or 1 ton for towing RV across the country. My F-150 was capable but had high miles and showed its towing limitations on long trips and in mountainous terrain. This is an XL trim line but has the STX and off road package and as a 1 ton has power and suspension capability to spare for towing our 23’ couples coach through the Rockies. Ride is much stiffer and steering ratio is slightly different than the 1/2 ton but nothing I can’t get used to. I plan on putting aftermarket shocks on to civilize the ride a bit. My F-150 had a more car-like feel overall but the F-350 is definitely a TRUCK and feels like it. Still, this particular vehicle had the exact cab and bed configuration I wanted and I feel very confident embarking on a month long, coast to coast camping adventure.
June 7, 2026A great rugged truck. Rides like a truck not car.
March 15, 2024A tough and snap truck that in my opinion is head of the class! Outstanding features!

November 29, 2021Rear bumper does not cover up tow bar frame. Nice ride tail gate could have a cushion when lowering . Overall very nice truck and looks fine
March 30, 2023Ford offers several models of the F350 beginning with the XL ( base model) and 5 more models each with more features that come with a price. For my money, the XLT represents the best value. But I like the leather of the King Ranch. I prefer the single rear wheel configuration but others that are into some serious hauling will probably choose the dual rear wheel configuration. Other comparable models would be Chevy 3500HD and the 3500 Ram. New and used heavy duty trucks are expensive.
July 20, 2024It’s a workhorse and can handle a big heavy camper with ease. Drives very nice also
September 11, 2022Didnt realize that there was no cruise control with all the extra buttons I made the wrong assumption that it was included
