Overview

The 2022 Alfa Romeo Giulia gets a new trim, Veloce, to replace the Ti Sport of the previous model year.

The 2022 Alfa Romeo Giulia is an upscale and dynamic sedan that offers dramatic styling backed by athletic handling and acceleration. The Giulia combines the best attributes of a sedan and a sports car into one passion-fueled, four-door, premium vehicle. For 2022, the Ti Sport trim has been replaced with the Veloce trim. Otherwise, the Giulia is largely carried over from the 2021 model year.

Trims for the Giulia are Sprint, Ti, Veloce, and Quadrifoglio. The entry-level Sprint trim comes standard with leather upholstery, remote start, dual-zone automatic climate control, heated front seats, heated rear seats, wireless device charging, and a fully digital instrument panel. The Giulia also comes standard with a slightly confusing 8.8-inch infotainment screen. There is a learning curve, but it does come with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Moving up to the Ti trim adds a heated steering wheel and opens up the availability of some options packages. The Veloce trim adds sport front seats and a limited-slip differential.

The range-topping Quadrifoglio trim is a high-performance machine. In addition to the most powerful engine in the lineup, this trim features high-performance Brembo brakes, a performance suspension, an upgraded exhaust, and unique styling elements.

The standard engine in the Alfa Romeo Giulia is a 280-horsepower turbo-charged four-cylinder. It routes power through an eight-speed automatic to the rear wheels or to available all-wheel drive (AWD). The Quadrifoglio boasts a twin-turbocharged, Ferrari-derived 2.9-liter V6 engine which puts out 505 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque. Power is routed to the rear wheels through the same eight-speed automatic.

Drivers can get the most out of the Giulia with the D.N.A. drive mode selector. It comes with Dynamic (sport), Neutral, and Advanced drive modes. Each mode has its own tuning for the steering feel, throttle response, and shift mapping.

The four-cylinder Giulia returns fuel economy of 24 mpg city, 33 highway, and 27 combined. The AWD version of this powertrain returns 23 mpg city, 31 highway, and 26 combined. The Quadrifoglio returns fuel economy of 17 mpg city, 25 highway, and 20 combined. Premium fuel is recommended for all of these powertrains.

The Giulia comes standard with driver-assistance features such as forward-collision avoidance, adaptive cruise control, front and rear parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert.

Base MSRP for the 2022 Alfa Romeo Giulia is $43,350. The Ti trim starts at $46,050, and the Veloce trim starts at $51,190. The range-topping Quadrifoglio starts at $80,030. The Giulia is backed by a four-year/50,000-mile powertrain warranty.

This car is amazing and practically new. Very well taken care of and clean.

I purchased my first Alfa three years ago (a 2018 Giulia). I am now looking to trade it in for a 2022 TI. Ratings like this are as much a reflection of the rater as of the car itself. I rate my experience as five stars because it has over-delivered on everything I expected from day one. What was important to me may be quite different for others; thus, others may rate the same care differently. First and foremost, what I wanted was a drivers car; that is to say a car built for a person who sees driving as more than getting from point A to B. The Giulia is certainly fun to drive but that is an understatement. It is a fine blend of Italian engineering and design coming from a Marque with impressive motor sports credentials. The result is high performance and beautiful handling at a price well below similar competitors (e.g. Audi S models, BMW M series). The Giulias performance is also packaged with all the features one would expect in todays high-end sports sedan. Whether a mundane trip to the grocery store, a spirited drive in the country or a long haul on the interstate, this car more than satisfies. By the way, in my experience the stories about Alfa reliability are way overblown. Ive never had a mechanical issue.

The Quadrifoglio is one of the finest high performance car on the planet. A true supercar.
