The Jaguar E-Pace, a compact crossover, gets a new special edition for 2020. it competes with the Acura RDX, Cadillac XT4, and Lexus NX.
The E-Pace offers a single engine across its lineup: Jaguar's turbocharged 2.0-liter inline 4-cylinder engine that makes 246 horsepower and 269 pound-feet of torque. A 9-speed automatic drives either the front or all four wheels. The E-Pace is rated for 21 mpg city, 28 highway, and 24 combined with premium fuel.
Jaguar splits the E-Pace into Base and SE trims. The Base trim includes LED headlights, rear fog lights, heated mirrors, an infrared reflective windshield, keyless start, 17-inch alloy wheels, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, dual-zone climate control, fabric seats, a 60/40 split-folding rear seat, and a 10-inch infotainment system. The SE trim adds leather seats, a Meridian sound system, and a power tailgate. The E-Pace offers 24.2 cubic feet of cargo capacity with the second-row in use. With it folded, cargo capacity expands to 52.7 cubic feet.
There are three packages available: R-Dynamic, and Checkered Flag Edition. The R-Dynamic adds an aggressive body kit with front fog lights. Finally, the Checkered Flag Edition is all-new for 2020. It builds upon the R-Dynamic look with special badges, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and black exterior treatments.
The E-Pace packs all of the safety technology you might expect. Standard features include forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, a driver-condition monitor, lane-keep assist, a reversing camera, and front and rear parking sensors. You can add traffic-sign recognition, high-speed emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control with traffic-jam assist. That said, there’s no public crash-testing data for the E-Pace.
The Jaguar E-Pace is certainly worth a look if you’re shopping for a compact luxury crossover.
